Hello,
I will be moving down to NC here in May and iw as looking for some new larps. Currently I play a game called Sharded in Michigan. After looking over your rules I thougth I would like to come out to one of your events. How large is the turn out normally? does the 30 dollars cover food for the weekend? are you guys heavy into combat or do you have a balanace between combat and Rp? and how late do you play each night? im used to playing till any time between 4am and 6am. i noticed you start at 4pm i guess what im tryin to say is how late is monster camp open each night
Thanks

Welcome to the game, Kennen. Here are the answers to your questions.

  • Our average turnout is 20 to 25 participants for weekend events.
  • Your event dues do not cover the cost of food. Often, someone will volunteer to cater an event, but it's not guaranteed and the prices are set by the person catering. I always advise folks to pack enough food for themselves for the whole weekend one way or the other.
  • Because our game system allows players to refresh their characters' abilities quickly (most come back after a minute), we tend to be heavier into combat than your average LARP, although there's still plenty of roleplaying to go around.
  • In contrast to what you may be used to, we tend to focus more on daytime activities. The Dragon's Den will generally close around midnight and reopen the next morning after 9:00am. This is subject to change, of course, but we tend to avoid being "hardcore" as a matter of preference.

I hope this helps. Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Alright thanks! I will probably be there in may and june. also what do you guys do between the october and april events?

That's our break period between seasons. We tried LARPing during the winter our first year, and believe me, it's not fun. There may be some limited roleplaying in the forums and such, but things otherwise become very quiet during the off-season.

There's something to be said about not being hit by frozen boffer weapons, and the fact that our campsite has limited power and no heated cabins makes really cold weather not a lot of fun.  Its a lot easier to cool down in the summer and keep playing than it is to fight off a cold winter's night.

As to the off season, things didn't really cool off much in the forums until Mid to Late January this year.  I will admit though, the last couple months of quiet has been a nice break and put me in the right mindset to get back into the swing of things next month!

Alright then. well I will be around in Mid May but i may not make it until the june event. i look forward to meeting all of you and trying out your game
