Common Knowledge
Common knowledge consists of information that every character is allowed to know without access to lore skills. This includes the following:- All of the race, class, and skill descriptions are common knowledge. Affinities and actions for restricted classes and races are not.
- Orn was once a whole and complete world, but a cataclysm known as the Shattering ripped it apart two centuries ago. The remaining pieces are known as Shard Realms, and the bridges that have started to reconnect them are known as Spans.
- The edge of a Shard Realm is known as the Verge and looks out onto a vast nothingness known as the Void.
- Prolonged exposure to the Void, and to the Hollow Wind that permeates the Verge, can cause madness.
- Travelling across the spans is hazardous due to verge-maddened wildlife, wandering monsters, and bandits. This has given rise to spanners, groups of adventurers who act as explorers, couriers, and escorts across the spans.
- The immortals are beings of inestimable power who often war with each other over the fate of Orn.
