Moving Stone

Taklinn works throughout the day one day on a wagon.  He seems to be adding something onto the back of a wagon.  As the day progresses, the contraption begins to take shape.  A large boom is added to the back of the wagon, as well as a large spool with thick rope attached.  He hitches two oxen to the wagon and moves the wagon alongside a large slab of stone.  He lowers the length of rope and secures it tightly to the stone.  Once completed, he begins to crank the stone off of the ground with much effort.  Once he has raised the slab higher than the bed of the wagon, he places a pole in the mechanism to keep the slab aloft.  He then moves over and pulls the slab into the wagon, before pulling the cog out and dropping the slab into the wagon.  Smiling wide, he says "Its a bit hard fer one person ta use it, but a pair could use it with no problems!"  After his successful trial run, he begins to outfit the other wagons with similar contraptions, and starts the arduous task of moving the stone from the quarry to the job site; unloading the stone in the opposite fasion, so as to not damage the precious stone.

Glimmer arrives upon waking up after working the night shift with Thorne.  She quietly watches Taklinn building his contraption.  She approaches him and offers to help by saying "Hello dearest love.  What is this thing?  I shall help you if I can."

Mig works hard to beat the spring deadline. He takes his breaks to rehydrate and rest every now and again. Mig watches Taklinn construct his contraption whenever a chance to catch his breath arrives. At the sight of the boom lifting the stone into the wagon, he grins and calls out "Something to make these stones a little lighter; I like it Dwarf!"

Taklinn smiles as Glimmer comes over and offers to help.  "Aye lass, if ye could guide the stone on and off the wagon, it'd be a big help."  As he shows Glimmer how the operation is to work, they quickly put several loads of stone around the job site.  As the days wear on he enlists the help of Mig and any others who show up to help, while outfitting another wagon with a boom and a winch.  "This way, we have double the capacity that we can haul!"  The work continues to run smoothly as the stone from the quarry is moved to the site where the wall will be built.  "Tis good to see the town work with some efficiency!  I believe the lot of ye may be makin' more progress than at first I thought was possible!  Ye take to work close to what a dwarf would!"

Rasiri walks out of the woods looking very pleased with himself, a new black Longsword hangs at his belt, and looks rather wicked and shines black.  Rasiri looks at the group assembled and smiles, he then walks over to Taklinn and says, "I haf nefer been much for manual labor... My type of work is normally more deady.  But i think i can make an exception vith you.  Vat can i do to help, Sir Taklinn?" Rasiri takes his mask off and stuffs it in his pocket and takes his new sword of and sets it on a rock along with his shortsword.

OOP- Sign me up for some time on the wall!!

Taklinn grins as the Uordek finishes volunteering.  "Don't fret dark one, even the youngest and most frail dwarf is set to work on community projects.  Even if them skinny arms of yers canno' lift the larger stones, there are plenty o' jobs that ye can help with.  Why I'll bet we can find some mortar that needs mixin' and the like, though I think it would do ye good to help with loadin' an' unloadin' the wagons fer the time bein'.  Given yer recent indescretions, I'll be honest in lettin' ye know that ye will be workin alongside someone else at all times.  Tis not anythin' personal, its merely a precaution, but make no bones about it; if any tries to halt this project or hinder it in any way......."  Taklinn leaves the threat to hang in the air, and shows Rasiri to his first duties.  "Now there are many types of stones fer a wall, and each stone will fit to different needs.  Ye have to look at the stone fer a bit to see where it belongs.  Stones with flat sides are obviously betther to stack atop one another, and in some cases we're to be chippin' those rounded edges off to make em more able to stack...."  Taklinn continues his diatribe on the varoious stones and techniques for quite awhile, all while seperating stones for end caps, top pieces, and the other stones that will make up the bulk of the wall.

"I haff no problems with working alongside someone else... i juuust ask that you all thrust me a slight bit.  I am glad to contribute to the defense of the town."  Rasiri bows to Taklinn and listens to his drawl about the wall.

Mort walks through the quarry slowly, admiring the dedication to the work that had been put into the construction project thus far.  "Did I say it'd take you lot a pair of mestrun ta get this job done?"

"Be it through dwarven ingenuity," nodding at the makeshift crane attached to the wagons, "human brashness, or fairy glamour, ye lot have exceeded even this old fool's expectations.  Ye got yerselves some good stone, fine cut and ready to build with.  My boys have seen to it that a foundation has been laid around yer city, and I'll be showing the dwarves how to mix the mortar.  It be taking near three times again what you've already done to see yourself a wall to defend against an army, if'n yer up for the task.  Seems ye be havin' just enough time to finish before the spring thaw."

Mort nods approvingly at the group, and takes a large swig from his flask as a toast, offering it to each in turn for their dedication to the project.

Glimmer, looking a bit disheveled and covered in dust looks to Taklinn and says "Lovey, am I still shiny?  I fear I look a mess and all this work has severely mussed my shiny-ness."  At that, Glimmer turns to Mort and says "I shall do whatever it takes to defend my town.  Let me know when and where to be, and be there I will."  Glimmer sits down and takes out her flask, taking a long pull of the contents.  She takes out a canteen of water, looks around sneakily, and empties the contents.  She then pours the contents of her flask into her canteen and offers some to her mate.  "Taki-dear, you look parched, do have some water with me."
