Filí

The filí regards its self as combining in its person the functions of philosopher and poet. The tradition allows for improvisation, personal expression, creative hyperbole and clever kenning. However, the filí's ability to deliver stories and information while maintaining elements that are considered factual is of great importance. The filí's message may be expressed through song, dance or a multitude of other artistic forms and can range from exuberant to subdued. Their services are often acquired to honor a tribal warrior's deeds of bravery, a respected noble, or a fallen comrade.
