Effects

Effects define what abilities do. The level of an ability is determined first by its effect, then adjusted by any modifiers. Combat abilities are further adjusted by their triggers.

1 Crit 2 Combat, Damage

You suffer one hit worth of Crit ("Critical") damage. Critical damage cannot be Resisted or Withstood and bypasses most defenses. If you are subdued by critical damage, you are immediately slain.

1 Drain 2 Combat, Damage

You suffer one hit worth of Drain damage. Drain damage simultaneously replenishes the user's hits.

1 Pierce 2 Combat, Damage

You suffer one hit worth of Pierce damage. Pierce damage cannot be blocked, though it may be Deflected.

2 Crit 5 Combat, Damage

You suffer two hits worth of Crit ("Critical") damage. Critical damage cannot be Resisted or Withstood and bypasses most defenses. If you are subdued by critical damage, you are immediately slain.

2 Drain 5 Combat, Damage

You suffer two hits worth of Drain damage. Drain damage simultaneously replenishes the user's hits.

2 Hits 3 Combat, Damage

You suffer two hits worth of damage.

2 Pierce 5 Combat, Damage

You suffer two hits worth of Pierce damage. Pierce damage cannot be blocked, though it may be Deflected.

3 Crit 9 Combat, Damage

You suffer three hits worth of Crit ("Critical") damage. Critical damage cannot be Resisted or Withstood and bypasses most defenses. If you are subdued by critical damage, you are immediately slain.

3 Drain 9 Combat, Damage

You suffer three hits worth of Drain damage. Drain damage simultaneously replenishes the user's hits.

3 Hits 6 Combat, Damage

You suffer three hits worth of damage.

3 Pierce 9 Combat, Damage

You suffer three hits worth of Pierce damage. Pierce damage cannot be blocked, though it may be Deflected.

4 Hits 10 Combat, Damage

You suffer four hits worth of damage.

Absorb Drain 4 Combat, Defensive

You counter a single Drain damage effect and regain a number of hits equal to the damage that would have be inflicted.

Absorb Fire 4 Combat, Defensive

You counter a single Fire damage effect and regain a number of hits equal to the damage that would have be inflicted.

Absorb Ice 4 Combat, Defensive

You counter a single Ice damage effect and regain a number of hits equal to the damage that would have be inflicted.

Absorb Prime 4 Combat, Defensive

You counter a single Prime damage effect and regain a number of hits equal to the damage that would have be inflicted.

Absorb Shock 4 Combat, Defensive

You counter a single Shock damage effect and regain a number of hits equal to the damage that would have be inflicted.

Absorb Tox 4 Combat, Defensive

You counter a single Tox damage effect and regain a number of hits equal to the damage that would have be inflicted.

Adapt Climate 2 Narrative

You become immune to extreme climates, including arctic, desert, or tropical conditions. This grants no special protection against combat effects.

Adapt Darkness 4 Narrative

You are able to see in poor illumination. This grants no special advantage in combat.
