Investigation

Akon walks into the ruins of the tavern and begins gathering the remains of the fireworks that exploded and the ones that never managed to go off. She looks to see where possible blast marks are, as to judge about how many explosives the assaliant had brought. Gathering all the evidence up, she then makes her way to the merchants hall, while keeping an eye out for her deputies. When she sees Edwin she calls him over. "Oi! Edwin, I've got a job for you lad."

Milling around the Mercahant hall looking at the products that are oblivously way out of his price range Edwin hears the voice of the Sheriff. He puts down what looks for be a cheaply made long sword from a beat up of vender in a rickity booth he was looking at and walks over to the Sheriff. "Can I help you with something? I had seen what had happened to the tavern however I was late upon getting there and it as everyone had already taken care of it. Have we found out who commited this hanious crime yet?"

Akon looks to him. "Not of yet. Here." She then proceeds to bundle the fireworks and explosives she collected into his arms. "I want you to ask around the merchant hall, and see who bought these. Maybe they can give us some leads. Then I want you to go and talk to Taklinn as he seemed to think Blisdon was behind it....said something about asking why Blisdon destroyed all the ale. And then I'd like you to question Blisdon separately, and see if he knows anything. If it wasn't him, then he may have seen who was behind this. There have been some awfully questionable postings of late on the town post. The demon post is quite obviously a jab at myself, but there are others. They seem to be secret messages of some sort. I'm not going to assume anything until we have all the facts. Start here, in the merchant hall, and see if any of these vendors know who purchased a ton of fireworks. It would have been rather obvious if the culpret walked out of here with bundles of high explosives.....see what you can find, then report back to me, deputy."

"It will be done Sheriff;" Say Edwin as he takes the fire works as evidence. Carefully eyeing them to see if there is any distingishing marks on them such as a makers mark, then puts them into his pack and proceed to walk around the market looking for anything that looks firmilar to him and asking people in different booths seperate from each other, as to not get suspisions aroused that someone is looking for something or someone specific.

Morzoth walks into what is left of the tavern with a very concerned look on his face. he notices the sheriff and her deputee then starts to rumage through the debris. " Barbaal are you here? comon you drunken bastard answer me!"

Akon raises a brow and looks over towards Morzoth. "He's not in that mess. I checked for anyone trapped inside as it was burning. Rest assured, he's not among that rubble."

The rockets have no particular distinguishing marks on them.  Most of the outer shells are singed beyond recognition, and the few that are intact but did not fire have an alternating red and green barber pole style wrapping with dark grey conical tips.

Several of the vendors look at you questiongly when you present them with the rockets.  Most of them wonder why you brough such a strange object into their shops, claiming they don't know anything about the new fangled explosives, and after the tavern explosions, don't want anything to do with them either.

However, as you approach the large man in the specialty shop named Marcus the Speculator, his eyes light up and he smiles widely.  "I remember this one time, when I was a slave thing..."

"Well hello Marcus", says Edwin dressed in his full regalia of armor. "Please continue with you story of when you were a slave, it sound very interesting."  Edwin pays close attention to the large man in the shop as he inconspicuously looks about his shop for anything familar. "Also if you know anything of the recent events with the tavern I beg you tell kind sir."

Morzoth looks to Akon "I am sorry madam i dont know what came over me. it just my brother spends all of his time here and i was worried. Is there anything i can do to help?"

Akon looks over to Morzoth on her way out of the merchants hall. "It's no trouble, I understand. It is only natural to look for him there, but I assure you I saw no body burning in that fire except Bob, and he didn't seem to mind....Just see what you can find out about this fire. I'm wondering if it has anything to do with those messages being left on the town post."

"Well, why doesn't the good little slave thing take a seat in the chair and get comfortable."  Marcus says, "All that armor must be hot and heavy for the slave thing to be running around in."

"Marcus is still slave thing to Viktor, but Viktor is a good Uordeq.  As good as Uordeq's can be anyway.  He treats me good and gives me all the expensive things to sell that adventurers need.  I don't ask were Viktor gets it, and he doesn't ask what I do with the extra money I keep in my pockets."  Marcus gestures to his wide array of exotic goods and begins to look over the rockets that Edwin had brough to him.  "Being Viktor's slave thing is good for Marcus, I like working the shop.  Its much better than the time that the other Uordeq held me prisoner to sell to the corpse crafter."

Marcus turns around to compare the rocket to some of his other inventory and begins to start flipping through notebooks and journals, trying to find anything that resembled the markings remaining among the scorch marks.

Listening to Marcus's story intently for any lead on whomever might have bought something like this rocket and not hearing anything helpful Edwin simply asks Marcus "Has anyone bought a bundle of these rocket from you within the last two months maybe."

Marcus seems to be drifting off in his own little story world while sifting throught the journals and shop logs and doesn't appear to have heard the deputy's line of questioning as he continues.  "So, no shit, there I was, stuck in a cell in a damp Uordeq dungeon.  It wasn't the worst place that I've been, not at all by far.  So, I'm being a good slave thing, and  being quiet in my cell when another Uordeq pops his head in through a hole in the wall.  I was hoping it was Viktor, but he's not the sort of guy who'll put his neck on the line for anyone - he's an Uordeq after all.  They're like roaches, but Viktor is my friend, so I knew he would save me."

Marcus stops flipping through the journal briefly looking at an image that appears to be close to the markings on the rocket, but not quite before continuing his story in a loud boisterous voice.  "So this sneaky Uordeq in a big brimmed hat comes in through the wall and he puts his finger up to his lips as if to tell me to be quiet.  But I was already a quiet slave thing, I was on my best behavior because the guards had already whipped me for being loud and obnoxious the day before.  But it wasn't Viktor, so I knew that I should probably let the guards know that someone was breaking into the cells before I got into more trouble...."

Watching Marcus's every move as he stops and looks at the page in his book Edwin say friend did you find something that I may be able to link this rocket with a maker or a place where this type of rocket can be bought?

Marcus rips the page out of the journal and places it on the desk for Edwin.  The page shows a color scheme that's similar, but very different than the spent rockets that were brought to the shop.    "It was Master Reinholdt," he continues.

"I only saw him for a second before he vanished into the shadows again.  That sly little Uordeq knew his way around a bomb, and a cave, and a locked door.  He brought his slave things into the dungeon with him, I don't know why, but some Uordeq never go anywhere without their best slave things for protection.  There was a dwarf, who was a deputy of the sheriff too at one time, and a couple of sparkly fairies, and another sneaky Uordeq rogue with him that was very mean to Marcus.  He set off a crystal bomb that scared me and made me want to run away and hide in my cell and be a good slave thing, but Master Reinholdt told me to 'Shut up!',  'Behave!', and 'Be a good slave thing, or I'll kill you myself!'"
