Rubruminations

*Esgir finished closing up the stall for the night and made his way to the Pillar of Virtue. There was much on his mind since the events of nearly a mest ago. Walking among the meager offerings of the new tower's shelves, the old dwarf shook his head.* "So much lost, hopefully we can return it to a proper place o' learning in time."

*Unsure exactly where to start, given what was available. Taking anything that had to do with Banekeril, the Astral, Drakeric, Woodhaven, and Graefward. Most of the books on runes and runesmithing were ones he'd personally brought to the tower, but he also picked up a few of them, just in case they contained anything he'd missed. Settling in at one of the tables.*

Malkonius wanders his way back to the Pillar of Virtue, weary from a busy day and looking forward to getting a little sleep.  To his surprise, Esgir is sitting there, a pile of books stacked next to him, absorbed in study.  This perks Malkonius up, giving him a little more energy to push through the day.

"Esgir!  What studies bring you here today?"

*Looking up to Malkonius, I make no effort to hide the weary expression on my face.* "Many things, Malkonius. Many things, all pertaining to this book - 'Rubrum'. Aye'll admit t' nae knowin' much about graefward; but Aye've nae heard o' one with powers like this Liem. An what brought him t' Jastrey? He expected t' find the book here, and apparently knows something of it, but was surprised when the text stopped changing once we restored the missing page." *Producing 'Rubrum' from the satchel I wore.* "An what of these words? "Gebulith, Pahulith, Varulith, Ululith, Besulith?" Aye'm nae familiar with them in annae tongue, nor have I found them in annae book in the library." *Stretching my back.* "Aye know we lost a fair deal o' th' collection when the tower was overrun an' collapsed. But if these runes an' words are some form of ancient drakeric, Aye'm gonnae need t' find scholars who study such things."

Malkonius studies the book that Esgir brought with him, perplexed at its contents.

"You're going to have to help fill me in Esgir... who's Liem?  Why was he looking for this book?  And these words... they do seem to be some derivative of drakeric... but I have no clue what they could mean, or even if they are part of some spell or ritual."

The aetherborn scratches his head, racking his mind for any scrap of information he might have stored away.  Then, one section of Esgir's words rang back in his mind.

"Wait... you said the text stopped changing?  How was the text changing?!?"

Malkonius falls silent in contemplation.

"With the current state of the library, I don't think we'll find any useful information on this locally.  Do you know where this graefward might be?  I think he's our best chance of discovering any additional information about this book."
