投獄天狗 (Tōgoku Tengu) - Part 4: 天狗の漁撈 (Tengu No Gyorō)

Recently, a span has opened to the secluded empire of Vostour. The small fishing village of Tsuri, along the northeastern coast, has come under recurring attacks from Tengu! Many of the inhabitants have already fled or perished fighting the evil spirits...

Story Notes

Epilogue: Run after Tōgoku Tengu - Part 3. This will reveal information about Weylyn's naginata and the Tengu.

[Old empyrean/Yorimatsu]: Read as appropriate based on whether the party knows Yorimatsu's name.

Required PC: Weylyn

Reference (Yorimatsu): Yorimatsu is named after Minamoto no Yorimasa (源 頼政) (1106–1180), a prominent Japanese poet who served under eight emperors in his career. He was also a warrior, and possibly the first to commit ritual suicide.

Monsters

NPC Yorimatsu (Empyrean) (Spirit: Tengu Heiki Masutā)

1.1 - Broken Katana / Empyrean Samurai / Failed in his Duty

Narrative
The Tengu defeated for now, the villagers have already begun repairing the damage.
Scene Notes
Yorimatsu is still in Tsuri, and will speak with Weylyn if he seeks him out.

VOSTONJIN: Yorimatsu speaks Vostonjin, but is old enough to know some broken Cirth. Players who may be considered fluent in Vostonjin include: Weylyn, Ikara, and Fu Chu.

YORIMATSU - RP NOTES:
{WHO ARE YOU?} You are Yorimatsu.
You buried your ancestral katana centuries ago, and vowed not to wield it again.
The Tengu obviously came for you.
You tried to help fight them off, but they still persisted; you hoped by taking up your katana again you could at least save the village.
Obviously, that was what the Tengu wanted all along; the katana now broken, the HanatakaTengu released.
{HANATAKATENGU?} Long ago, before the Shunning of the Magicks, early in the Vedrischtal, the HanatakaTengu Shogun ruled Vostour through fear and force of arms.
{SHOGUN?} One daimyo opposed the rule of the shogunate. Slowly gathering a group of other daimyo and samurai, they started a war to overthrow the Shogun.
{SHOGUN?} After a long, brutal campaign, they were successful in defeating the Shogun, and the daimyo who led the group became the first Dragon Emperor.
{SAMURAI?} You are the only surviving samurai from the group who defeated the HanatakaTengu.
{KATANA?} The HanatakaTengu Shogun was too powerful to destroy. Their body was taken to the village of Tasogare. Using the Soul Forge, their very soul was broken apart and forged into the weapons of the daimyo and samurai who helped to defeat them.
{SOUL?} For ages, the Shogun has lain dormant; but their power is growing. You thought that by separating the ancient weapons, it might weaken them further. So each family was told to send the weapon away from Vostour, to never speak of its whereabouts, or the bearer of it again.
{SEND AWAY?} The only two weapons that stayed in Vostour were your own, and the one belonging to the Dragon Emperor.

Once RP dies down, Yorimatsu will ask that the party excuse him while he buries his shattered Katana. He will not allow them to follow him.
This ends the content. However, if the players choose to follow him after several minutes, continue to the next scene.
