You are able to use boffer-safe props interchangeably regardless of any Equipment tag used. A Versatile Weapon functions as a melee weapon or unarmed attack of its size, as well as an instrument, projectile weapon, or spell foci. You must still have the appropriate passive proficiency ability based on its size (Use Unarmed, Use Light Weapon, Use Medium Weapon, or Use Heavy Weapon) and versatile function (Use Instrument, Use Projectile Weapon, or Use Spell Focus) to use the prop in this way. This ability allows you to use props that do not adhere to the limitations of their size or appearance: Instruments do not have to appear as instruments, may be used in one hand, and may be used to block; Projectile Weapons do not have to appear as bows, crossbows, or firearms; and Spell Foci do not have to appear as maces, rods, staves, or wands. If you gain this effect through a weapon property, it only applies to that weapon.
