The young, panic-stricken woman fled the canopy of the forest and ran toward town as fast as her weakened body would carry her. She knew there was no chance of hiding from them this time, the trail of blood from her wound would lead them straight to wherever she ended up. To have lasted this long, only to have it end up like this in the end! she thought to herself. She had hid, she had ran, she had starved, she had even buried the bodies of her Ma and Da before they came back for them. She knew what they did with the dead. Her parents' bodies would not be defiled in that manner!

She ran past the first deserted building in town. There was no one left to help her but maybe, just maybe, she could barricade herself in somewhere. They didn't seem to be the brightest and maybe they would give up on her after a while and give her another chance to escape. If they didn't, she would claw, she would kick. She would die, but she would not give in.

Billowing robes caught her eye and she caught the back of a person hastily entering the Merchant's Hall and the slam of the door. She didn't stop, but ran toward the hall, her stomach lurching as she heard the sound of numerous bolts being activated. In an adrenaline-crazed state, she attempted to raise her right hand to beat on the door, then growled in frustration as the empty air by her side reminded her that it was no longer there. Screaming, not caring if they heard her, she beat at the door with her left hand only to find that no one would answer. "LET ME IN! I know you're in there! PLEASE!" After a few moments of silence, she kicked the door. "Bastard!"

Taking a deep breath, she turned around. As she expected, they were entering the town, grunting and laughing at her bad fortune, taking their time, knowing she had no where to go. She balled up the one small fist she had left, leaned back against the locked door and waited.
