It's been a long time coming, and I feel bad for not being able to get to it sooner, but birthday boon will now be awarded automatically on the morning of your birthday.
Keep in mind that this keys off of the birthday in your user profile. So, if you haven't provided it for one reason or another, now is the time. Just click your user name at the top of the site, then "Edit", then "Personal Information" to update it.
Let me know if any of you May babies don't receive your birthday boon when you should. Also, anybody who's been a player and has had a birthday since March 1st, let me know and I'll manually give you your birthday boon.

Birthday boon is only ever awarded once per year per user, no matter what you set your birthday to.

Okay, I admit; I hadn't considered that one. Worst case scenario, I'm very likely to notice that sort of thing happening, but I should look for an automated way to prevent that sort of abuse. Maybe new players can't initiate transfers but can still receive them.
