I'm unwilling to make a raid marshal stay up all night to make this work; plot has more important demands on its attention. The only other alternatives are to find a way to make cabin raiding work without a marshal or nix it all together. I don't think it would be a terrible loss, but I'm willing to hear arguments to the contrary. What do you guys think?
Definitely, I don't think it will be something that anybody will mourn it's passing for very long.
However removing it forces you to wonder how it will be used and abused when every flagged player has a large "you can't get me!" safe haven in the game. Perhaps a rules clarification or some method for players to reach out and touch any players who use their out of game cabins in an unrealistic manner?
Just an idea to consider before the situation arises where half the town wants someone dead and they are sipping juice boxes in their cabin trollfacing everyone.
"…half the town wants someone dead and they are sipping juice boxes in their cabin trollfacing everyone."
Have I ever mentioned you had a way with words, Alex. I love that image. :P
Claire mentioned this one in chat, and there's already a rule that prevents it. You cannot go out of play to escape an in-play situation. If someone is actively looking for you to gank you, then you can't go hide in your cabin (an out-of-play area). You can hide in the woods until they give up, or face them like a man, but you can't go out of play until the situation is resolved.
That being said, if town decides to get up the nerve to kill you after you're already dozing quietly in your cabin, you are still perfectly safe. Forcing someone to wake up and get into play is a bit harsh in that sort of a situation. I'd make the would-be gankers wait until morning.
Simply put........hell yes. This would allow those of us who would like to flag to flag. I am not a nice person to wake up from a dead sleep and I pitty the person who tries, thus why I didn't flag. Plus this allows people to get a better nights sleep for the next days festivities.
What about cabin raiding could you possibly like?! If you don't want it taken, don't bring it to the game. If we want our plot people going to bed at a reasonable hour, cabin raiding should go away. People keep personal belongings in their cabin, if someone comes in unannounced and takes their in play items, who's to say they won't blame a PC for taking thier personal belongings? I won't have to worry about separating PVP and non-PVP players with this growth we are experiencing. Cabin assignments will be unnecessary. Cabin defenses were pretty much useless, anyway. Now they won't be added issues at check-in, nor will there be more actions on a character sheet. If the PVPers are playing the "you sleep first" game, and they populate more than half the game, who will be up in the morning to clean up on Sunday? And who will be awake on Sat morning to do mods?? I think PVP is a terrible idea in general, but if it must be done, at least let the plot folks go to bed before sun up so everyone else can have fun, too.
Agreed. It's a needless burden on logistics as well as plot. It adds very little and costs a good deal to maintain. In fact, the number of cabin raids in the past season can be counted on one hand.
You're welcome to state your argument, bro, but it'll have to be a very good one to get the Governor to call at the 11th hour with a stay of execution.
I'm with you on this one get rid of it cabins need to be out of play.
