Loud cheering can be heard through the kitchen, coming from out back.
As Drock walks in carrying a large box of pipe weed, he yells "EXPENDABLES".
Viachion, Talles & Illiasia all begin to cheer and chant, "EXPENDABLES, EXPENDABLES, EXPENDABLES".
The chant is followed by a rousing cheer. They have all of the towns people in the bar cheering along with them.
"The wine ain't sweeter, the grass ain't , either side of the hill".
"Ah thank you dear friend. I'd like to talk as we walk down to Ripper's cabin. I haven't seen her in the tavern and I do so wish to speak with her about this other Fae's appearance in Jastrey." Glimmer and Astrum walk out of the tavern headed for Ripper's cabin.
OOP-Astrum I'll PM you my thoughts.
Taklinn returns to town from mining and heads straight to the Shady Corner. He enters the tavern and quietly takes note that there are not many patrons in the tavern this night. He orders a drink and heads over to Thalenir's table. He sits down and inquires "Where is everyone at tonight mage?" He settles in his chair and converses quietly with the mage as the evening winds down.
Having long ago finished his meal, Thalenir sits with quill in hand meticulously penning an elaborate glyph on a piece of parchment. He looks up over his glasses and nods in acknowledgement of Taklinn. "Oh, here and there. Everyone seems quite worked up over these newcomers, and there seems to be some commotion outside, although I have yet to go see what the fuss is about. I'm sure the news will reach me before long. Honestly, I think most of them would be surprised how much they could learn if they just quieted themselves and listened once in awhile." He smirks. "Then again, I doubt my brand of careful reflection suits a man of action such as yourself, master dwarf."
Garith enters the Shady Corner with Glimmer at his side sobing. He quickly sees Taklinn and Thaliner at the table and approches them. He helps Glimmer to a seat at the table and then pulls one up for himself and begins."Forgive my intrution friends but another great matter has come to our town. It seems that Ripper has disappeared. Her cabin was left open and all that remains are bits of fur and blood. I have asked Master Stiers, Atasatch, and Nail to patrol the border of town and have set the hunter Rasiri to look for tracks as to what may have caused this. I have also retrieved these" as Garith sets down Ripper's broken sword and shield on the table. "I have yet to repair them for fear of destroying evidence. What my good masters do you propose we do?"
At that, she turns to Taklinn and says "Dear Taklinn, whilst I am aware of your disdain for my clean chin, I would so appreciate your company this evening. I fear I will have a sleepless night. I simply must find out what has happened to Ripper. She's as close to kin as one can get without being blood and from my tribe at that. You do understad don't you, dearest Taki-Sacks?"
Taklinn sits and listens to the mages talk for a bit, then looks to the faerie who is sobbing quietly on his shoulder. "How come we can't ever have a quiet night around here. Maybe now ye fools will see why I say we need more security around here." The dwarf's tirade ends as quick as it began and he once again looks to the faerie, looking down and saying quietly to her "Well if ye sit here all night, ye won't be getting any answers, and I will need a dry shirt. Lets go walk about and see what we may, besides the fresh air will do ye some good. Try not to get any sparkles on me." He downs the rest of his ale and stands up and escorts the faerie out, walking back to the scene of the crime.
Thalenir raises an eyebrow. "Ripper gone, you say? How dreadful…" He sits back and thinks deeply for several long moments. "It seems you've taken the prudent course, Garith, but I fear you may have overstepped your bounds a bit. I suggest getting the Sheriff involved as soon as possible so that anything found may not be refuted if court is called later on."
His brow furrows. "That being said, let us move past the obvious clues and consider who could have a motive for harming or abducting Ripper. Only one comes to mind…" He casts Garith a knowing look. "You may want to verify his whereabouts last night. Let me know what you find."
Dreygor's brow is heavy with sweat as he labors over his new task. He speaks softly to himself "I must get this done as soon as possible." He smiles as the soft glimmer of the mithril ore catches his eye. "Tis a beautiful metal it is. As strong as marble yet as supple as the finest leather. Haven will be surprized to see the details I have put into this for her."
Dreygor startles a little at Garith's entrance into the forge but quickly notices the urgency in his face. "Tell me what troubles you friend?"
Taklinn and another dwarf emerge from the back with the green skinned human. They stop and exchange a few more words ending with the new dwarf putting his arm around the human and saying "THIS is me clan now". Taklinn says "If that's the way ye feel, then I'm in no position to refute yer honor. Farewell Fenfren, I look foward to talking to ye again soon." Taklinn then walks over to his table with Glimmer and sits down. "Well ye look fer answers, and all ye find are more questions. I ain't never heard a dwarf talk like that, so either he is stark-raving mad or under some mage's spell. Ye were right though faerie, they do work fer the same man that will be marching on us in the spring. I just don't understand how a dwarf could end up as some madman's fodder for his army. I think Jastrey may be in a bit over her head. I need some time with the pick and stone to try to figure this whole thing out." Taklinn rises and walks stiff legged out of the tavern, deep in his own thoughts and obviously in no mood to talk.
