Comin' to visit the Dozenttsss

It was unsufferbly hot in Jastrey as Dayne the Unseelie made his way towards the Tower. The sweat poured down his brow as he trudged along, practically dragging himself with his staff. He sighed in relief as he approached the Tower entrance. He straightened his cloak, wiped the sweat from his pale face, and rapped sharply on the door.
"Dozzzzeennctsssss, I gotcher message," he spoke before smiling the biggest toothiest grin he could muster.

Malkonius strolls up the path to the Library entrance, and sees the Fae waiting at the door.

"Well now, what are ye doin' out here in the heat?  Go inside an' have a seat."

The Dwarf opens the door for Dayne and inquires...

"If you've been waitin' at the door, yeh must be here for someone.  How can I help yeh?'

Dayne sighs a relief as he enters the cool tower. He turns to address the dwarf.

"Thanks there pal. I swear it must be a bajillion degrees outside. Wowwww cool place ya got here." he says with a wink as he inspects the place.

"Yeah I'm here for you actually and all the other Dozzenntttss. Kin of my kin, Poppy, tossed me an invite to your club last time we spoke in passing. So I figured I would pop on over and make myself acquainted with everyone and see if our collective interests align."

Dayne heads to the nearest table and begins to rummage through his knapsack and scatter various knick knacks in front of him along with a quill and parchment.

"Name's Dayne. Been called Dayne the pain, the bane, the in-sane. (he chuckles maniacally at this)  Whats your name? We met before only a little bit. You were in the spire a while back and gave that no good Dhurocht priest a whallop. I laughed and laughed at that."

Malkonius' eye twitches a slight bit as he watches the Unseelie flutter about its business... It reminded him quite a bit of another fae that resides in the Tower who he hasn't seen in some time...  Shaking this trance-like gaze off, he follows Dayne inside and closes the door behind him.

"Malkonius Stoneshield's my name, Dayne.  I s'ppose the 'insane' title may fit if yeh were laughin' at the events of that night, Zangdrax bein' summon'd n' all that... but nevermind those events."

As he finishes his sentence, the Dwarf extends his hand in peace for a hearty handshake.

"Welcome to the Library.  Ye'll find many answers yeh seek here, an' maybe even some yeh didn't!  Our quarters are in the dormitories above, go ahead and make yerself comfortable as I go n' get Rune and Poppy to talk more with yeh.  Of course, I'll answer any questions yeh may have for me as well, but I figure ye should at least talk to 'that one' n' the one who told yeh to come here as well."

Malkonius turns and walks up the stairs to get Rune and Poppy to come down and help greet the visitor.

A portal opens and a green robed and hooded figure steps through and the portal closes.
Throwing back his hood. Kaelan speaks. "Welcome home Malkonius. Greetings Dayne. I sensed a new presence in the Tower. What brings you here? Is there anything I can help you with? Questions I can answer? Research I can assist you with?"

Rune comes down from the dormitories soon after Malkonius goes up. "Welcome Dayne. This one takes it Poppy found you. Did she tell you of the requirements for becoming a Docent?"

*shakes Malkonius's hand vigorously*
"Tis been a true pleasure, I look forward to chattin' with ya later Mr. Shield."
*Dayne grins widely as the dwarf leaves.*

Dayne cocks his head and looks on with interest as a portal materializes and the green robed elf steps into view.
"Kaelan, good to see ya when we aren't facing certain death!"
*Dayne claps his hands with glee and cackles for a moment*

"As a matter of fact, I received a message that some of you Dozers had taken notice of my... talents? So I figured id introduce myself to the rest of the gang and come talk to the big guy, wait no, thing? Well you know the beep boop thing... what was the name..."

*Dayne scratches his head for a moment as the golem makes his way into the room*

"Ahhhhhhhhh yes Ruuuunnnnneeee"
*Dayne somersaults and stands uncomfortably close to the golem*

As the golem speaks, Dayne begins fishing around for something in his pocket.

"You require MAGIC..." *Dayne waves his free hand in the air slowly as he says it and in the other brandishes some rather decrepit documents*

"And to be able to Translate, which lucky for you big... guy? one? it? thing? Damn pronouns..."
*Dayne loses his train of thought*

Meditating under a peach tree a top of the tower, Peleus over hears voices in the tower echoing on the wind. Feeling curious Peleus made his way down to the library where it was a bit cooler.
Finding fellow docents gathered around a new face. Peleus took a seat near the group and observed after opening his gourd.

Dayne snaps back into focus and grins at the newcomer as he sits down.

"So anywayyyyyy. I got da skills that ya need, but I gots a few questions for ya. Are there anymore that are gonna join before I start jabbering. Its soooooo boring repeating myselffff."

Swift comes down the stairs with a large rolled up map under one arm.  The tall ixifar cocks his head slightly as he identifies the winged new-comer.  "Ah Dayne!  We fought the goblins of King Betterthannasher together several months ago.  What brings you to our tower?"

Dayne waves enthusiastically to the Ixifar before taking in a deep breath and addressing the group gathered.

"Im full of magic power and I can translate any ol' document you like". Dayne motions to the wrinkled old parchment in his hand. (Dayne is a mage and has story action translate)

"So I meet your requirements, but do you meet mine? I need to know more about you, Doze-ents. It would be nice to have a safe space to continue my... research." Dayne giggles a bit before regaining his composure and starting again.

"I need to know how you as a group will view my... dabblings, if you will. Last thing I want is fer you guys to start gathering pitchforks and torches. Cant have that happen againnnnn..." Dayne shudders, then winks and cracks a large grin before continuing.

"If I were to join or get accepted or whatever, What would be expected of me as a Dose-int? What would you guys say that your role is as a group and how do you see little ol' me fitting into that role?" Dayne smiles again and waits.

Rune nods before emitting, "Generally, we as a whole are not against Warlocks. Our own Poppy studies that area. However, that field is incredibly risky. Make no mistake Dayne, if you bring harm to this one's townsfolk or Docents and are not willing to help rectify it, this one will end you."

Rune then addresses the room as a whole, "However, as many of you know, this one used to be a Crystal Fist. This one felt restrained by their dogma and therefor sees the need for the study and experimentation with the warlock arts. "

Dayne falls onto the floor in a fit of giggles. He takes a little bit to compose himself and answers while still laying on the floor.

"Yes, yes, yes. Playing with the Pit, quite risky. Don't you worry, I am the E-PIT-O-ME of safety" He snorts as he tries to stifle his giggles.

"But seriously though. Im not tryin' to release a bajillion screamin' devils on Jastrey or anything like that. In fact, I'm thinking you're going to need my talents.I've seen first hand all your Dhuroscht troubles as of late. I'd love nothin' more than to help make a few more eyeless corpses, if ya know what I mean." Dayne pantomimes choking and dying on the floor.

Dayne sits up quickly, fliting his wings to speed up the process.

"So what ya say Docey's? You want me in? If so what do I do? You dont got some weird hazing thing do ya?" Dayne cracks another toothy smile.

Malkonius, having followed Rune downstairs, gives a stern look at the Fae at the mention of practicing dark magic.

"I've gotta say, I'm not fond of the path yeh walk... however, it is not my place to stop yeh.  I'll warn yeh, however - if yer intent ever turns against the good of Jastrey, or yer actions turn evil, yeh will swiftly find  yerself on the opposite end of the battlefield from me.

At the same time, if yeh ever feel yer bein' pulled towards evil by forces outside of yer control, I implore yeh come find meh, or any other Docent as quickly as yer wings will carry yeh.  Promise meh this, an' I'll not contest yer practices..."

Rune nods at the dwarf, "Well said. If things do go poorly, we will help you. Most mages have found themselves in some situation they didnt mean to be in. As far as duties, our mission is simple: Help the new adventurers find the knowledge they seek. Every month we hold the Adventurer's College, with further educates new townsfolk to the ways of our wide world. We are also Signatories of the Accords, and are often called upon to help delegate and are widely regarded as arbiters for town. If these activities are agreeable, this one will approve of  Poppy's endorsement. "

The fae peaked around one of the bookcases curious about the bustle that occurring in the library. Seeing the fellow unseelie the fae fluttered forward to the group. "Dayne!! Wonderful you came." the fae said in a fit of giggles tossing her arms in the air. "I am sure Rune has filled you in on the info about the accords as well as docents." she chirped. "It will be fannnntastic to have another warlock AND unseelie in the tower!" she clamored the fae giving a fanged smile that went from ear to ear.

Althena, arms full of books, stops short at the entrance to the room she was about to enter, leaning slightly against the door jam as she listens to the voices within.  She gives a small smile and nod at Malkonius' wise words, her frown returning slightly as she puffs a stray strand of red hair from her eyes.  With a soft sigh, she resumes her trek into the room, settling her books down on the table, their spines turned toward her, and straightens to view the stranger unseelie giggling on the floor.  Without a word of greeting to the others, she turns to the golem.  "Is this to be another initiate into the Tower?" she asks, voice neutral as she awaits the golem's words.

"it would, it would seem. He has show talent and integrity, and this one feels he would be a good fit." emits from the contruct.

"Anyone who does not with Dayne to become one fo the Docents of the Tower, please now speak."

Althena tilted her head slightly, taking in Rune's words.  With a shrug, she turned to the pile of books she had set upon the table, picking them back up.  "I am, of course, concerned about a warlock being within Jastrey, let alone the tower," she says, turning to look at the newcomer and then back to Rune.  "However, I am also aware that the Docents are not an organization of 'good', but simply of knowledge.  Thus, whatever you deem appropriate and best for the Docents will have to be the answer."  She shifts the books slightly.  "I need to borrow these books, Rune," she quickly changes the subject.  "I will bring them to the Warren and will bring them back in a few days' time."  She pauses, not wishing to see rude should the golem or any other wish to speak before she leaves.

Poppy raises I eyebrow at Athena as she goes to take the books. "I thought we were not allowed to take any books from the tower. Or so I was told." The fae said her eyes shifting to Rune.

" And Athena you do know Dayne is not the only warlock within the tower?" the fae asked in concern.

"I had vouched for Garen in the past," Athena remarks, turning toward Poppy and then glancing back at Rune.  "However, if it is an issue, I shall simply bring them up to my chambers upstairs.  I had hoped to be able to do my research at my leisure while attending to my duties at the church."  She shifts the books again, as though they were heavy, then looks back at Poppy, an almost sad expression in her eyes.  "And, I am well aware that Dayne is not the only warlock, Poppy."  She offers the fae a small smile, but the expression in her eyes remain, "It still does not lessen any concern I may have."

Poppy shook her head side to side. "It is nothing personal I am told. It is to keeep the books from getting lost or misplaced. I was told similar when I tried to take books from here as well. Applies to even us to keep fair." the fae chirped.

Shifting the conversation the fae's face remained stern. "I am not bothered by your concern. It is the way you stated it." The fae said a smirk breaking across her face. "You speak I like I am non-existent. Yes warlocks are a threat to all town and the tower! As I sit here and twittled my thumbs." The fae said with heavy laughter.  "Your tone is what flabbergasted me."she said lightly

Althena sighs, putting the books back down and then pinching the bridge of her nose.  "I apologize for my tone, Poppy.  I think..." she shakes her head.  "Nevermind.  It doens't matter."  She opens her eyes, looking at the vampire for a moment.  "I do apologize for my tone.  And," she turns to Rune, "if there is indeed trouble with my taking the books to the Warren, I shall return them to their proper shelves and review them later, when I have time to spend here at the Tower."  She turns again to Poppy, bowing slightly.  "Again, Poppy, I apologize."

"Swords are sharp, Warlocks are dangerous. These are things that we know to be true. It's all about application. However, this one cannot let you take books form the tower. This one erred in setting a precedent with Garen, and it apologizes. What is this project you are working?" emits from the construct in a very measured, flat tone.

Poppy shook her head at the ixifar . " It is fine, Athena ." She said. "And I was just making sure with the book thing. it would be frustrating if had been copying notes out of things I could of just taken, I mean no harm in it." She said

Althena smiles at both Rune and Poppy.  "There is nothing to apologize for, Rune." She glances down at the tomes in her arms and looks up.  "I think that I shall replace them on the shelves. I know where they set, now that I have located them. And, when I have more time to study them at length, I shall be back.  You will, however, forgive me if I decline to advise of my 'project'.  It isn't a scientific study, as those of you who are able to cast spells or gaze into the Aether or Nether would do.  It is a matter of simple geneological research of some noble families from my homeland."  She shifts the books again before turning to Poppy.  "I am glad you forgive my words, Poppy.  And, enforcing Tower rules is always a good precidence."
The ixifar healer then turns to Dayne, who had become forgotten in the minor tiff.  "Dayne, should you prove yourself worthy of the title 'Docent', then know I bid you welcome. Should you not prove worthy," she tilts her head, a slight smile upon her lips.  "then I bid you goodbye."
With those words, and a smile and nod to all of those gathered, Althena steps back toward the library to reshelve the books.

"Gemological research?"  Swift's ears almost seemed to perk up at the words.  "I would very much love to help you with such Althena, if you would allow."

Pausing briefly, she turns to the other Ixifar. "My thanks, Swift.  But no. This is for my own curiosity." And with those words, she leaves the chamber.

(Sorry to take so long, I had some IRL stuff prevent me from posting)

Dayne bows over-enthusiastically towards the Dwarf and listens to Rune list out the responsibilities. Dayne nods vigorously in agreement. At the sight of Poppy, Dayne drops the papers in his hand and cartwheels over to Poppy and dances in excitement.

"Popppyyyyyyyy. Ahhhh. It's so good to see ya and to meet a lot of the other docients. I was justa discussin about joining you guys with the big fella over there. I just wanted to… OHHH… I have somethin' for ya Poppy" Dayne interrupts himself and scurries over to his bag and begins aggressively searching through it, contents scattering all over the table and floor.

A good bit later and a lot of obscenities mumbled Dayne finds the object he is looking for- a small envelope. He holds the item up to the sky in triumph and holds the pose for a few moments as he realizes he is being addressed by someone he hadn't noticed before.

"Should you not prove worthy," she tilts her head, a slight smile upon her lips.  "then I bid you goodbye."

Dayne, puzzled, calls out after her, "Byyyyeeeeeeee."

He turns to the others.

"Prove worthy? Is there to be some sort of trial, maybe some hazin'? I really hope so" his face now lit with glee.

"Before we got to all that, I gotta get this to Poppy." Dayne winks at the group and flits over to Poppy and hands her the envelope.

"Here ya go. My papers. Back home, I was told that when I had found a new place to live, to give this one of my kin. So here ya are. Don't go readin around the others tho. Fae stuff" Dayne smiles real big and winks at the group again.

"Alright docey-doh's. Whatcha gonna do with me?" Dayne says to the group.

Kaelan states, "I have no opposition to Dayne becoming a Docent personally. However I do have reservations with someone with an unstable mind delving into the dark arts. However if Poppy can guide him in his art and possibly in his mental stability, that would make me feel better. Also, with Rune's guarantee to 'end him' if he causes mayhem, I am satisfied."

"ooo gotcha of course, of course." she said with a light giggle as she places the note in a pocket in her pelt. "I dont think there are any trials, not that I recall of course." the fae said a puzzled look upon her face. "I suppose you should set up a room and the like when you are offically in." the fae said nodding. "All of us have the option to have our own personal quarters in the upper floors. annnd besides that I guess it would be setting out any personal projects you are working on, unless I am forgetting something." she said turning to look at the golem.
