A curious search for Light.

Dusty tomes fill the shelves, a beam of light is broken by a passing shadow. Cynder the elf occupies himself with a curious task. He searches the stacks for a time before becomeing frustrated at his ignorance of the archives. He approaches a Librarian and asks if the might know about any readings related to the Lightbringers...

"Lightbringers specifically? Or paladins in general." emits from the wll known librarian Rune. "This one had hoped you would come in search of that knowledge on day, based on your actions in town. Go and seat yourself. This one will bring the correct tomes." Rune points to one of the circular tables that litter the Tower.

It reappears afew moments later with 4 books, and sets them on the table. "Where would you like to start?"

I suppose I should learn about the types Paladin's, I concern myself specifically with those who hunt fiends. There is a matter... I wish to pursue in that area of knowledge.

Rune picks up three of the books, and sets the fourth aside. The golem sets them in front of the elf.

"The first are the Inquisitors. They are the paladins of the false god Ressik, also known as Secronus. They are notoriously racist against non-humans, however, that could simply be a result of working under Ressik. The go after warlocks and witches primary, but due to thier current employer, they target any magic user."

"The second are the Lightbringers. They are paladins of the immortal Istensia. The operate as the militant arm of her church in tandem with the Handmaidens. The hunt the undeads and aid lost spirits to find their final rest. Thimble the Helpful and Thomlyn the Compassionate are both Jasterian Lightbringers, and can offer you more on thier day to day affairs."

"The last are the Crystal Fists. They are the paladins of Lemesin and serve the king in Huel Vor. They are the closest thing this world has to true knights. They fight demons, and those would would summon them.  Faro'oq the Merciful is the only Jasterian Crystal fist, and can tell you more about thier day to day activities."

Yes, it seems the Crystal Fist are most pertinent to my quest. I have quite a bit to learn and read. Im grateful for the aid you have given me.

"You are oddly stiff for an organic. That is coming from a golem." emits from the construct. It stacks the Crystal Fist tome and the un-mentioned one in front of the elf. "Read these. The first has all this one's notes on the Crystal Fists, the second goes over the 4 pillars of being a paladin, and thier various stances on subjects and law. Now, due to the lack of paladins in Jastrey, you may be have to seek out a non-Fist to squire under, as there is only one and he may be to busy. This one wishes you good luck."

The construct takes the other two books back the shelves, but before it turns away it emits, "A word of advice, spoken from experiance. Stay out of Angor, and never be to proud to apologize."

Wait.., Ehem... Why Angor? and what's this about an apology? I must have missed something.

"This one used to be a Crystal Fist. It lost it's mantel for freeing slaves and leaving it's companions behind to fight an un-beatable enemy." emits from somewhere in the shelves.

The golem returns to the elf, the books put pack in the correct places. "There was a Wummi tribe that had taken some male slaves. While the rest of the party talked to the leader, who had slain somoneone more powerful than this one with what it assumes was help from Arimir himself, this one took the opportunity to let slaves escape via portals. When the leader and her followers came after this one, it ran. Twas for not though, it later returned and worked for them for a mestrun to cover the cost of the slaves they lost. It was a no win situation. Youll find yourself in many over the course of your paladinhood."

A troubling thought. Everything has a price but I believe that the evil of this world must be stood against. If that means my life is all the harder so be it. I have much to reflect upon, I shall retire to my quarters but let it be known that am curious in this matter and would like to pursue it further.

I take my leave of you.
