At this point, I'd say the major design hurdles are behind us. I now have a solid framework for how characters are built and interact. The rest is just filling in the details by creating all of the races, proficiencies, actions, and merits. This is no small feat, of course, but it's straightforward work that will just take time.
That being said, I'd like to go ahead and plan our first playtest for some time in January. Tom and Jenn's party is on the 7th, so I was thinking the 14th or the 21st. I don't want to overlap a Sharded event, but I don't when one will be in January.
As far as a place, Travis (Rivens) offered to procure some gym space in Chapel Hill for us. I'll get with him and see what's available. Indoors would be preferable since it's winter, after all. Barring that, we may have to shoot for midday at an Umstead picnic area.
What do you guys think as far as a date and a location? When and wherever we have it, it will be strictly informal; no money will be taken, no PCs will be played, and no XP or treasure will be awarded. I'll probably award a boon per hour for those who come out, since they're technically helping the game and we need guinea pigs. ;)
I will definately be there. No matter the day or conditions.
