Before day breaks Edwin is up and suiting himself with his full regalia of armor. After about twenty minutes, finally the door opens still black outside Edwin travels though the town. First ensuring that there is no one breaking the laws set forth to him by the Sheriff then proceeding to the woods through the valley and into the courtyard of the Monistary. Gaurding himself from any furth attacks from the undead creatures the town had fought the previously. Realizing that there is nothing around Edwin places himself to face the statue of Intensia. Edwin then begins to remove this helmet and shield placing them to the front of him and pulls his sword from his side and holds it horizontally in front of him waiting for just the right moment. As the sun breaches the horizon Edwin falls to his knees and begins to pray.
"Oh blessed Lady of the Morn as you show your presents of light defeating the darkness of night. I am at this holy place once again to offer to you myself, my armor, and my sword to do your bidding. Even now great lady I feel your presents as your touch warms my cold steel body and it fill me with your light. One day great golden goddess I hope to be reborn at your side as your knight protector of this realm until you decide to take me as your own."
With that Edwin stands, sheaths his sword retreives and dons his shield and helm and begins his journey back to town.
Edwin pulls is sword and takes his guard knowing he is alone up here he moves closer to the exit to town putting his back to the nearest wall so he can not be flank from behind and prepares for the fight. "Great Lady of the Morn help me though this these tribualtions". Once in position for the fight Edwin looks around to see how many undead beings he is up against.
Several dark forboding shadows can be seen in each window and door of the 15 to 20 out buildings here. As you back toward the exit, the arms clawing there way out of the dirt make the field look like someone planted and field of skeletons.... and there ready to harvest....
You look around to take a quick count. Fifty, maybe sixty shadows moving out from the building and, trying to count all the skeletal arms and divide by two, maybe seventy to eighty skeletons.
Akon's steps are barely heard lightly stepping back through the woods, retuning from her nightly stroll. Her ears perk at the sound of the groans and scrapes of the undead rummaging about the monastery. Barely paying it mind, she keeps on her path to return to her lodgings. But then she hears what sounded like a voice, causing her to take pause. She frowns, listening for more, but then continues still on her way. But her doubts get the best of her, and she finally decides it best to see if indeed the voice she thought she heard was nothing more than a groaning undead, turning to head back towards the infested grounds.
She makes her way calmly up towards the monastery and then sees Edwin clearly, blade and shield at the ready. She immediately goes on the alert, eyes scouring the surroundings before the warrior, as she draws her long blackblade. "Edwin!" She calls out. "You're far out numbered up there, get out of there!"
Edwin sees the over-whelming numbers of undead forging there way to him and hears Akons voice in the distance. Thinking better for himself he turns and runs though the woods to Akons position. "If we stay and fight we will be desimated but I will fight with you. If we run I will run with you but either way we need to eventually clear this unholyness out of our place of worship."
Akon is focused on the rising undead, and she steps forward. "Now..is not the time. Two..." She pauses, muttering dark incantations and whipping her arms forth as the undead rise. (named daze x 4 on any that might be persuing Edwin). She continues. "Now is not the time to stand and fight. Two against a mob? The odds are against us. Go! I'll follow!" Akon's eyes flutter as dark energies start to rise and form around her feet as she falls into deep incantation. Within seconds the warlock is enveloped in darkness and shadows, until all of a sudden her arms shoot forth, and an uneartlhy yell issues from her lips, dark whisps and tandrils of energy radiating forth from her body in waves. "MAY HORROR TAKE HOLD OF YOUR FLESH! BE GONE!" The air itself around her seemed to shiver at the powerful words of the Uordeq, as the darkness around her shot forward. (Spray Fear x 3 if any undead came near).
Edwin races past Akon and hears something he cant quite make out but keeps moving for about 200 yards though the woods not seeing Akon at his side he slows to a stop and turns around to see her engulfed in a swirling vortex of darkness. Once again pushing toward town he looks for anyone that may be able to help Akon.
The shadows criss cross the field as they come closer and closer. The blank stares of the mindless zombies and skeletons show no fear as they trudge through the grass and weeds.
Before they can reach the edge of the monastary, there is a loud noise from one of the far buildings. Like pieces of carapace being slapped together.
"CLICK CLICK CLICK CLICK CLICK CLICK CLICK CLICK CLICK CLICK CLICK ...."
The strange noise turns the shadow and zombies attention toward the back of the monastary and they begin to trudge away from you back through the buildings.
The shadows enveloping Akon die down as the zombies and shadowed figures turn, lowering her hands and watching on curiously. "Interesting...." She says, gazing on calmly as they back away. But she wastes little time and goes to catch up with Edwin at the edge of town. "Edwin!" She calls out, trying to get him to stop. "Edwin! Wait!"
Within seconds the warlock is enveloped in darkness and shadows, until all of a sudden her arms shoot forth, and an uneartlhy yell issues from her lips, dark whisps and tandrils of energy radiating forth from her body in waves.
Near by, farther away from the monastary, you see a small boy with his eyes and mouth wide open in fear.
There is a breif pause and then the scream that was stiffled bursts forth as he realizes he shouldn't be there. The boy then drops the kindling wood he was gathering and runs off into the fields toward some far off farmhouses.
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!"
Hearing Akons screaming Edwin spins about just as she catches up to him. "Oh Akon you made it! Thank Intensia!! Did you kill them all with you magic? Is the Monistary safe once again? Can I go back tomarrow? Should we gather the town forces to defeat this evil? Oh sorry to question you so much Sherriff! No I didnt see the boy but if there was truely a child out there we must find him and bring him to safety. The town doesnt need the blood of that child on our hands." With that said Edwin gathers his confidence and head in the direction that child left in hoping to catch up to him and make escort him back to town.
Morzoth is hunting in the woods near the monistary. As he is chasing a boar, he notices two figures running after what seems to be a child. he looks back and the boar and it has vanished. he turns to the two figures and sees the towns sherrif and one of her deputys. "is there anyway i can assist me lady.
Akon smiles at Morzoth and offers him a nod in respect. "Glad to see you, friend. It seems all is quelled...for now." She looks back to Edwin. "I would advise avoiding the monestary for now, however. Indeed, I also intented to see it cleansed, but rumor has it that there is something far more powerful in its bowels than just a few shadows and roaming undead. We need to prepare carefully, not run in blindly." She reaches to clasp a hand on Edwin's shoulder, with a stout nod. "You're a strong fighter, bold, and loyal. I am glad to give you the chance at deputy, so long as it is within my power to give it. But let us plan together, and work to clear our monestary once and for all as one, united, not alone." She smiles, dropping her hand, then looking to where the child ran off to. "Morzoth, could you possibly go with Edwin here and see that the child returned home safely? I think I may have near startled the child to death...."
Edwin follows the trail of the kindling left behind by the child but it suddenly stops at the edge of town. Edwin ask Mrozoth to push on with the search and he will return to the sheriff and report the now missing child. As he heads back to the Akon he see the boy in the farm house in the distance. Makes his reports to the Sheriff, yells for Mrozoth, gathers the dropped kindling and heads for the fam house to comfort the family. "
"i over heard the conversation in the taveren my lady and i believe that the demon has been consumed by you my lady what i dont understand is how you can hold the now comsumed part at bay from trying to take over? Don't get me wrong my lady i will follow you regardless im just a bit curious as to the matter? these people if you can call some of them that dont understand that you did this to protect them......"
Akon smiles gently. "I know they don't understand. I knew they wouldn't when I did it, at least not some of them... They see horns, they see a tail, what they refuse to see is the distinctive differences between myself, Akon, and the demon I consumed.
"How can I keep the consumed part at bay? Because this isn't a possession. The demon is dead. She has no control over me. I know what she did, and how she did it, because her memories flooded my mind when I swallowed her.
"Some of the differences are so blatantly obvious. For one, I have no wings, and she did. Two, she was a succubus and acted as such. She was brash, harsh, open in her desire to torment and bring pain and suffering. I clearly am not like that. To me, it is obvious.
"Yes, I am a warlock, yes, I practice the dark arts, both of those were the same before I grew horns and a tail, and yet, they didn't act out against me then. They only now act out after my physical body has been changed. I realize that the physical manifestations of what I did are hard to accept, and grave, but if one were to open their eyes and look past the appearance of my flesh, they would see who is standing before them. Akon Nivarian.
"But there is nothing I can do but allow my actions to prove my words, and indeed, I have harmed no one in this town, save one. Stiers. And I did it to save him from what he would have become had he been damned as I am now, and because members of town wished me to. He has a grave history, and was a warlock before. This was a history which the town did not want repeated, and I was the one they aided in stopping him."
The farmhouse is a simple three room house. A common / cooking room and two bedrooms. The door is closed and locked as are all the windows. The storm shutters are also closed tight.
The fields look small and the heat has made the crops start to turn brown on the edges. Several cats and a dog are chasing eachother around an old broken cart.
that i understand my lady people fear that which they dont understand and resent it as well but that is still no reason to want one dead. -i shake my head- i sat and listened the night of the meeting as i did this night in the taveren i'm new here but i tend to want to understand things when they bug me. having those call you a demon and others say you are not confused me to a degree i understand a bit more my lady.
If you have need of me just call upon me and i shall try and aid you as best i can. -bows slightly and offers my hand-
"there be only an angori and a human here miss. No demon." Morzoth looks to Edwin with a concernd look on his face knowing that its impossiable to explain Akon's situation to certain people. He regains his composure "i assur you miss may Arimir's hammer silence me if im lying what your son saw will not harm you. there is no need to worry."
M'lady I have broughten the kindling that you child had dropped in the woods when is had gotten frightened I assure you by the light of Istensia that right now there is nothing to fear out here please come to the door. As a deputy of the great town of Jastery I come with a warning for your families safety.
"M'lady the demon that you boy had seen has been quelled and is no longer an issue for now. However I want to warn you of the terror at the monistary. Please keep your child far away from there until the impending problems are taken care of there. Thank you for you time my fare Lady and if you have any questions please feel free to track me down anytime. I will be residing in town my name is Edwin Windrunner, new Deputy Sheriff of the township of Jastrey. Istensia blessings upon you and your family Lady." Edwin looks toward Mrozoth. "Seems there is nothing else we can do here friend, thank you for your help. May the light shine upon you brother." With that Edwin drops the kindling on the pouch of the farm house turns and heads off back to town. "Mrozoth join me for a drink at the tavern?"
As Edwin kneels before a statue in the courtyard he hears scrapping and movement in the buildings all around him. Shadows appear in the doorways and decomposed fingers are seen digging up through the dirt. As you don your helm and shield you suddenly have the feeling that you are not alone.
