A deal with darkness

Once again Peleus wanders the older section of the library. After attempting to reach out to his spirit guide which went unanswered, he has returned to continue his quest for answers. After perusing through he finds himself in a very dark corner. The surrounding torches have not been living in a very long time. Cobwebs and dust cover every surface. Suddenly a soft rumbling sound could be heard almost as if like a heartbeat. As Peleus looks around the room he notices A small black box with a glass top sits before him on a pedestal. It feels as if the box is calling to him. "Master Rune, I request your presents."

Rune follows the voice into an apprently ill kept part of the library. "This one will need to set Garen and Malkonius to cleaning this place. What is it you need Peleus" emits from the construct as it's gaze shifts to the box.

Peleus's eyes remain fixed to the box as if mesmerized by the sound.  "Rune where did this box come from and why is it calling to me? "

Without touching it, the golem inspects the box. "The wood is odd. Quite old. This glass has a strange tint to it. This one would say the box is from Sirison. From the Ruins of the Kalf-Gi. They exported this wood as a luxury item, the sand from which this glass was made matches from what it has seen in that area. As to why it is calling to you, it is possible that some dark magic lingers over it, from the deals that nation chose to make around is collapse."

Peleus approaches the box and pierce through the glass top. Inside sits a single scroll. Slight vibrations could be seen on the paper. Peleus slowly open the box and taking out the school. His heart beating 100 miles an hour. The scroll being unrolled slowly revealing a very old language. At the very bottom a single line with an X next to it. "Holding the scroll I feel fear and excitement. I can't make out what it said on the paper. Can you?"

Rune glances over the scroll, nods, and teleports away. The golem re appears a moment later holding afew very old paypyrus scrolls.

"This one does not naturally read this language, but it is closest to this language from modern day Sirison. " The construct unfurls the scrolls, and sets them on the table. It looks back and forth between them all before emitting, " Thisone is not entirely positive, but it seems to be a contract for soldiers of that ancient like army."

Swift walks up, carrying a small ball of magical flame to light the way.  Seeing the two Docents, the ixifar joins them.  "What have you found my friends?  I felt a disruption from the Malestrom coming for this area so I came to investigate."  The sorcerer stares for a moment at the ancient scrolls.  "Looks like an old Middle Sirison language.  May I?"

With a flick of the wrist the ixifar extinguishes the flame are replaces it with conjured lantern emitting a pale white light.  Setting it down upon the table, Swift takes to heed and begins to read the scroll.  "It appears to be decoration of some kind.  It is written in script of the old Kalf-Gi Empire that ruled the sand long ago before the river dried up. Duskling author I think do to some of the words.  I...."

Swift stopped silently for a moment his eyes become more wide.  He slowly raises his hands from the table as if it might be a venomous snake.

Still lost in a somewhat daze, Peleus stairs at the scroll. The vibrations have become stronger and louder in his ears. With a zombie like tone in his voice Peleus asks, "what are the terms of the deal? "

"First....First off, there is power in these words.", says the ixifar slowly.  "It is a contract with a magical binding beneath it.  Where that comes from I can not entirely say"  Swift continues to stare at the scroll as if it might bite.  "Spirit magic...yes.  It has got to be.  I know that feeling from my old instructor.", he mumbles.

Swift looks a the sylph.  "This is a contract offering a payment of...as it reads....Silencer of the Dark."  The ixifar's finger hesitantly touches the aging papyrus.  "But there is also a sacrifice.  Blood of your Ancestors...is the price."

The tall ixifar appears to be shaken.  "This document disturbs be Master Rune.  I'm not entirely sure how.  I would say there is necromancy here...but different.  I'm not sure how to describe it.  Like, living death instead of un-death.  I assume that what ever magic is here would act as a witness to whom ever signs in there name.  Blood might be required.  Then, what ever power is behind it would take effect."

Peleus smirks, "well if it's calling to me, it's doing more than a spirit guide has for me." Peleus bites his index finger drawing blood. Quickly making his mark across the line at the bottom. The scroll suddenly rolls shot and a slight rumbling comes over the room. A deep guttural laugh could be heard at going far off in the distance. Peleus's eyes began to burn so much so that he collapses to the floor screaming in pain. "AAAAAHHHHHH IT BURNS SO MUCH!"  Wind begins to pick up all around, whipping through the core doors of books knocking away the spiderwebs and dust. And with a thunderous boom all goes quiet in the wind stops. Peleus gathered himself up from the floor, slowly rising up. "What happend?"

Swift's eyes go wide and raises his hand to stop the monk, "NO!  Don't..." The sudden burst of power as Peleus makes his mark knocks the ixifar away to the far wall in the midst of the gale.  Only the blue light of Rune is visible in the dark as Swift opens his eyes.  With a snap of his fingers a small magical flame appears in his hand dimly lighting the room.  "Master Rune?  Peleus?" he speaks from the floor.

"This one supposes that is a way to dust." Emits from the golem. It glows a brighter blue, grabs its greatsword with one hand while leaving it in its sheath, and using lightning lights the torches around the room.

Peleus using the light from runes sword grabs on to a book shelf to hel stabilize himself. As his eyes finally begin to adjust from a blurry vision to full clear, Peleus suddenly feels a strange sensation in his body. Almost as if he feels heavier then before. The feeling begins to startle him and attempts to fly but nothing happens. Unnerved by this he try's calling wind (push 10) but again nothing happens. "What the hell is going on here...?"

Poppy flutters up to where the three had gathered. The grumpy fae scans the room before addressing them "What in the pit are you guys doing!" The fae snapped. "I was trying to get some rest." She said glance from Rune and Swift her eye finally landing on the third.

Peleus looking up at poppy, "Ummm.... well I don't really know." Peleus nervously chuckled. "I kind of signed a contract on an ancient scroll." Peleus nervously smiled at the clear pissed fae.

A portal opens in the room and Kaelan steps through.
"What happened?! I felt a disruption in the flow of magic in the Tower!"

Poppy squinted at the human. "Peleus?" She asked unsure walking around the docent. "It look like you?? But you are human?" She said her rage subsiding. "Exactly what kind of scroll did you sign?" She inquired

Peleus touches his eye frantically. Still slightly sensitive to the touch, Peleus now realizing the price of signing the contract. "So that what it ment.... I guess I'm human now..... But what do I get in return?" Peleus focused and in the blink of an eye disappeared (Hide). "Oh Damb, that's cool. And I get the feeling I can do this at will." Peleus returning to solid again faces his fellow docents. "I guess my time as a monk has come to an end. Time to pick up some blades and do some damage." In the pit of Peleus's stomach the thought of kill made him feel hungry. "My blade is thirsty...." Peleus smirked.

There's a loud clattering outside of the room before a familiar furred head pops though the door. "What is going on I heard yelling?!" Weylyn asked in confusion before settling on the new human "Peleous?"

"Neat and fascinating." The fae said walking a circle around the fellow docent. "You will have to let me look at the contract sometime, be intresting to see what magic binds it, and what you agreed too." She said with a light nod. At the mention of blood the fae lets out a small laugh. " Well with current developments in town I believe your blades will get the chance."

Peleus looked to the fae and handing her the scroll. "It appears to be sealed shut. Try and see if you can do anything with it."

Swift rose from the ground extinguishing the small flame.  "I see you have now changed Peleus.  I'm not sure how his will bode for you, but at least it was your choice."  The ixifar sighed.  "The text of the scroll have now taken effect.  You are now the Silencer of the Dark, an assassin.  And in it you have lost your ties to the Air Elements."
