As I stated last April, the death system has three objectives: To make players fear death, to make death interesting, and to control the inflation of PC power. That much hasn't changed.

What I'd like to talk about now is how we can make the current death system accomplish those goals more effectively. I would say it makes death interesting, but I wouldn't say that it does enough on the other two counts.

One idea I had was to make conditions gained from death last for three events rather than just the current event, but then give players the opportunity to reduce their duration with boon. Thus, if you get the "double refresh time" card or the "no off-hand items" card, you're stuck with that result for the rest of the event guaranteed, and even longer unless you buy it off with boon. Either way, it stings a lot more.

It's just an idea right now (THS 3). What does everyone think?

I am a big fan of "DEATH BAD".
I think taking away half thier health would be a good option. I think it would reflect their weakened constitution.
