Double-Value Treasure Pulls

This one's been on the table for awhile. Starting next year, the person who makes the treasure makes two bags instead of one. The first bag is the same as it is now, with an average value of 2.75 gold per draw (remember gold will be worth 10 times as much as it is now, so this is 27.5 in today's numbers). The second bag will be 5.5 gold per draw, but will count as two pulls when you draw from it.

This second bag meets a demand for nicer treasure that people have been expressing for awhile. The overall value of things you draw won't be any better on average. You're guaranteed not to get silver nuggets, for instance, but that doesn't mean you won't draw silver bars instead. The bag will, however, offer you the opportunity to get nicer things than you'd be able to draw in the normal treasure bag.

I think this one's a no-brainer (THS 7), but I'm happy to hear everyone's thoughts.

I like this idea, though at the same time I'm slightly concerned about it.  I don't mind the rich get richer when it comes to high levels getting the possibilty to have access to better treasure, those of us that have played for more than a season should be able to see better things more often and it something that will correct itself in the end. It does however seem to lend itself to more logistical nightmares and the question of how treasure hunter would work with the new grab bag.

Does treasure hunter 1 work with the better bag, or would you have to use two treasure hunter ranks to pull a second from the bag and pick the better of the two?

If we stick with the trend of putting high dollar things like Adamant Ore or enchanted items with higher gold value in the second bag, what ends up going back in the first?  If I wanted to risk all three of my draws in the lower bag, is it possible that I might still come out with something pretty nice, or are those pieces only going to be in the higher level bag?  Once I have access to the high level bag, what's the point in even digging from the low level bag again?

Can I save a draw from an earlier mod to use it in a later mod for "combined" treasure - I'm apt to say no here, but it's likely going to be a question that comes up.

What about once someone hits lvl 9, do I get one draw from the good bag and one from the lesser bag because I get 3 draws now, or could I sacrifice the third draw and just pull two from the big bag since if I was already getting good treasure, why not get all good treasure?

Just some stuff to contemplate.

The first bag doesn't change from what it is now. There are still things that are very valuable in there. Adamant's about the most expensive you'll find, and it's rare, but it's still there. Same for Greater Glyphs and decent magic items. The difference is that things like this may be more common in the second bag, and you'll also have the chance to get things even better, like magic items worth more than 20 gold.

Treasure Hunter is a question, yes. I'm of the mind that it simply counts for half when applied to the high-level bag, rounded down, and you can divide your extra pulls up just like the number of tags you keep. This may make it too complicated, of course, and it assumes that Treasure Hunter is remaining as it is.

Saving draws adds more work for logistics or plot, so I'm not down with that. You get your draws after each adventure. If you're not high enough level to have two draws, you have to draw from the lower-level bag. If you've got three draws, then your choices are three low-level treasures or one high-level and one low-level. Again, partial doesn't count; it's always two-for-one.

So ornate and Superior quality items, as well as more expensive consumables and crafting materials in one bag?  I like it!  I agree that saving up draws should be a no-go.  All in all I like it, and am on board.  I would be intereted to see it in action to see if it would be worth it though.

This sounds like a logical system and it's good of Scott to think of all the permutations.  I hope we keep Treasure Hunter in the game as it give players a bit of control over their rewards.  I think it would make sense to require a higher level of TH to use on the higher level bag.
