Ling, having agreed to put his plans on hold and waiting a day or so to let tempers and emotions cool off a little, was marching back toward the wall in his armor, his bandana tight against his scalp. It didn't help keep the rain off. It was raining a bit today. He prefered the rain, he made his way to the wall, no hood or cloak or anything to protect himself from the rain and wind. As he reached the wall he got to the top and stood overlooking the Crystal Fist camp, "Oi, Kristoff." he shouted down at the camp, trying to get the one who the town had previously worked with.
Ling made his way back down the wall and to the main gate, standing in the under bit where there was enough cover from the rain, wiping some of the rain away from his face. He nodded slightly and began, "Eh there Kristoff. You're lads doing alright in the rain? You're boy's have been out there for a while." He started, pulling out his dagger and putting it on the ground. "Sorry, I don't like being armed when I want to have a peaceful chat. It shows a bad message. Anyway. We've got a common enemy, and i'd like to see how I can help ya ." his accent floated out, "And maybe not just here in Jastrey. I hear you're lads back home are holding in a war. I'd help out where I can then." he pulled off his bandana and wrung it out, his wet matted hair clung to his head.
Kristoff greeted Ling in a similar fashion, coughing a bit before responding. "We were doing fine until just the othet day when our primary water source, your lake, became heavily polluted, you may want to check into that. If anything we're thankful for the rain." "As far as offering names to faces and such, that'd speed our process along here so we may return to Huel Vor. We've received word not to long ago of a possible outrage from neighboring villages, truly nothing new but when they have the Followers and Fiends backing them, it can get a bit ugly." His voice cracked here and there, causing him to cough up a storm once he finished speaking.
Ling held a deep sigh, muttering "North Winds," then bent down and picked up his dagger, wiping the mud from it before resheathing it. "Yeah, we had an issue with a being in the lake, some of the townsfolk dumped some poison in it..." He turned walking back into the rain, "You go get your lads laying down or whatever, I'll go grab a healer to look at you lot."
And he went off to the temple of Araven, cleaning off his boots as he stood at the door, then going in and standing just at the door. He didnt wish to tread mud and water everwhere. Looking around he pulled a coin out of his pouch and placed it softly on a counter before calling out, "Althena? Althena, ya here?"
Hearing a voice, one that was more familiar to the tavern than the Warren of Avaren, Althena rose from her meditations at the Shrine. Pausing to offer a quick 'Thank you' and burst of prime upon the pristine white stone, she enters the church, to find Ling standing at the front entrance. "Ling?" Althena asked, confused as she stepped closer. "Is there something I can assist you with?"
Ling tilted his head back and forth and frowned a little. "Sorta-kinda. I went to talk to Kristoff to work with him on the Dhuroscht thing, and apparently the lads've been drinking from the lake..." he paused for a moment to let it set it... "they dont look well, I cant help them... maybe you can help better than I can." He said, looking down at the small puddle of water that had dripped from him, grumbling under his breath about it.
Althena glanced over the elf's shoulder, taking note of the downpour without. Giving him a nod, she turned and gathered her cloak and the pack she kept nearby. Hoisting it to her shoulder, she quickly steps passed the warrior and into the diluge. Frowning slightly, she stops and turns, completely ignoring the rain that soaked her heavy cloak. "I hope your darkvision is better than mine," she says, smilng slightly. "Do you know their symptoms?" she asks as she encourages the elven warrior to lead the way.
Ling walked back out into the rain and pulled his bandana down over his eyebrows, looking up at the rain for a moment, "Hmm, the winter grows cold." he said before making his way back down the road to the gate. Walking through puddles and over anything in his path. He just trudged along in his recently aquired, either newly made or otherwise, it clanked softly and the rain pingged off it. He adjusted the soaked scarf around his neck and pulled it closer. "Oh, uh... no they were just coughing when I saw them and talked to Kristoff." he said turning around slightly to talk before spinning back around. He reached down and pulled out his flask and sipped from it before putting it back.
Reaching the gate he stood there, waiting see if Kristoff had hidden from the rain from somewhere or had returned to his camp.
Settling beside Ling, Althena watched as a paladin came into view. Nudging the elf beside her, Althena nodded toward the other male. "Is that Kristoff?" she asked, not waiting for Ling to respond before moving toward the gate. "Blessings of Avaren," the healer called out as she neared, "I understand you and your kith are ill?"
Ling shook his head, clearing it from his thoughts as he walked, he pulled out his flask again and took a swig, "Oh right, ye two haven't met before. Kristoff this is Althena, dare I say priestess of Avaren. Althena, Kristoff, of the Chrystal Fists of Huel Vor." he said calmly, pulling out his dagger again and sticking it into a peice of wood. "I just came over to ask if I can help kill the cultists. That was the stipulation, go to war with the cult of Dhuroscht, so if Kristoff and his lads are sick its my responsiblity to help them." he grunted, leaning against the wall near where his dagger was.
Althena gave the elven warrior a soft smile. "Have no care, Ling. Kristoff and I have met, although we were not formally introduced, and it was not under happy circumstances." She turns back to the paladin. "I offer you and your men assistance. Perhaps I should enter your camp and tend to those most in need?"
Kristoff nods to the two as they approach speaking distance. "Lady Althena, I heard the trial went well in the case of Poppy and that you vouched for her." He paused, stiffling a cough before turning to Althena. "I don't think we'll find or receive help from anyone better suited for the task." Kristoff turned his attention to Ling. "Rest assured Althena is safe in our hands but if you feel the need to acompany her into the camp, that's fine by us."
"I know ye'll be in good hands. Ye think anyone in town'd put up with someone if they fucked with you?" he asked before shrugging, and crossing his arms, "I dunno if Kristoff wants to talk about the details of the Wolf Clans aid in the fight. His war, I'm just here to help." he pulled out his flask and sipped from it, then held it out for Kristoff or Althena. "We just need food and lodging when fighting in foreign lands."
Frowning slightly, both at Ling's words of war and the coughing paladin, Althena stepped closer to Kristoff, shaking her head at the proffered flask. "I need for you to take me to more of your ill," she said to the paladin, her voice low with concern. "If they are as ill as you, we may need to bring in more healers," she glances back toward town, in the direction of Avaren's church. "But, before we do that," she raised a hand, "By the Fires of Life, Avaren's blessings upon you." [cure]
Kristoff nods at Ling. "Your help is appreciated in apprehending any followers of Dhuroscht or any intel on what his fiends plan." He looks at Althena as she speaks and lays a hand on his shoulder.
He coughs one final time before clearing his throat and straighting up a bit. "That seemed to help. Though a good portion of the camp is worse for ware and may need more than just curatives. What other forms of magic do you possess?"
Althena smiled as the paladin visibly improved. "Most of my spells are healing and defensive. Although I do have the ability to imbue objects with Prime as well as purge ills such as curses and the like." She tilts her head slightly. "I am also a fairly skilled apothacary and have some experience as a field medic." She glances over toward the main bulk of the camp, silently counting the number of tents. "Ling tells me that you drank directly from the lake?" She looks back at the paladin, frowning slightly as her voice took on a slightly scolding tone. "I am going to presume you did not boil the water, but drank directly from it?"
Ling shrugged then sipped on his flask and stood quietly for the time, There was nothing he was really needed for right now, he was just standing around to make sure. And he didn't have much else to do in all the rain. He relaxed a little, putting his flask away and getting up he grabbed his dagger and started walking into the rain, "Yep, i'll go grab someone then." He said over his shoulder.
Kristoff looked passed Althena and towards Ling walking away. "Ling, I apologize if there was something more you wished to speak on. If you like we may speak more letter when my men feel better." He turned his attention back to Althena. "We have been drinking water from the lake but we have also been boiling it." He turned slightly, motioning that they head towards the camp. "Ling mentioned someone poisoned the lake water?" He inqured while they began making their way to the camp.
Althena watched as Ling walked away, and then turned back toward Kristoff, nodding. "I am glad you thought to boil the water," she remarked as she followed the paladin deeper into the camp. "Not everyone realizes that just because it is fresh water, it is not necessarily drinkable. And, yes. We had..." she pauses, frowning deeply as she recalled the battle with the hydra, only to learn later that those of Jastrey had taken it upon themselves to poison their water source. "...a few uninformed souls poison the water, thinking it would rid us of a naga that had been very little difficulty, considering other issues Jastrey always seems to find itself in." She stopped walking, giving the paladin a wane smile. "Present company included." she joked slightly before resuming following the paladin. "Now, I would like to see those who you would consider more ill than others. I will need to start treating them as soon as possible." She glances back toward where the elf had walked. "I hope Ling is going to fetch more healers."
As Ling peers over the edge of the wall and looks upon the Crystal Fist camp, he notices less men out and of the few that are tending fires and such are suffering from random bouts of coughing fits. A paladin takes notice of Ling and enters a slightly larger than the rest tent. Moments later Kristoff emerges from the tent, eyes squinting to block out the rain as he scans the wall. Spotting Ling, he nods and makes his way to the main gates.
