From the east...

Eonai enters the relative cool of the Healer's Den and takes a seat at the nearest table. She takes out some tools and begins fiddling with something shiny.

Auri turns around from a table farther back and waves to Eonai when she enters. "Hey friend, how's it going today?"

"Still...trying to figure this out..." she mumbles, continuing to twist the shiny thing around and mess with her tools. "I *will* make money at this, I will..." she sighs and puts down her project. "So, have I missed anything while I was away studying? Any newcomers to town?"

"There was some lady named Adyslaine in here not too long ago looking for Numeris. Since she likes blowing down doors with gust spells, she may be into your kind of magic."

The door to the Den opens and Adyslaine walks in, a mug of hot liquid in her right hand and an open leather-bound tome floating in front of her at face height. Sipping from the mug and murmuring to herself, she reaches out and turns a page in the book, never once looking up at her surroundings.

After a few moments the book closes, she looks up and nods at both Aurikalo and Eonai.

"Hello?" comes a voice from outside. Thalenir walks in. "Adyslaine? Ah, there you are. Quick question. Was it..." He trails off as he notices Aurikalo and Eonai. "Oh, hello there," he greets amicably, then turns his attention back to Adyslaine. "Was it Merjis' third law of occult awareness that I should be applying to the formula? Something doesn't seem quite right about the hand signs."

"You are technically correct. The best kind of correct!"

Adyslaine takes a sip from the mug and eyes Thalanir. "Yes, you are applying the correct law to the formula. However, if the hand sign feels uncomfortable to you, you are more than likely doing it wrong. Show me what you've been doing."

Thalenir concentrates for a moment, incants, "I cast off the veil of obscurity," and points his outstretched hand toward the corner of the room, holding his ring finger down with his thumb and his pinkey slightly splayed.

Adyslaine turns around, places her mug on the table and moves around so that she is between Thalenir and the corner. She takes his hand gently and pushes down on both his middle and ring fingers so that they touch his palm. She releases his hand and looks up at him.

"That should do the trick. Much more comfortable, isn't it? Technically you could cast the spell the way your hand was held, but you would have strained to keep it in that position, taking valuable concentration from what you are doing."

Thalenir raises his eyebrows and nods. "Ah, yes. That is better. I wasn't sure if that finger was a factor or not."

Thalenir smiles. "I think I've got it now. Thanks so much for your help. Just let me know how I can return the favor."

Adsylaine nods at Thalenir and says distractedly, "I'm sure an opportunity will arise sometime...I came in here for a different reason though, although I don't remember...oh!"

She looks around the room and her eyes light upon Eonai and Aurikalo. She walks toward them. "My ear was itching something awful while I was in the tavern. I don't suppose either of you were talking about me? May I be of assistance?"

"Well, since we have not yet been introduced I'm sure I could not be talking about you specifically. I blame Auri for any ear-itching that may have ensued." Eonai puts her palms together a few inches in front of her and bows slightly. "My name is Eonai."

I reject your reality and substitute my own!

Adyslaine smiles and nods at Eonai.

"It is a pleasure to meet you both. I am Adyslaine. I've been called here to replace Numeris since he is away searching for our master. If either of you should need my assistance, I practice not only magic but am quite capable of teaching you a few things about jewelcrafting or scribing if needed."

"Ah, a woman after my own talents! I would be very interested in practicing...well...*all* of those things under your tutelage. I've been particularly vexed lately trying to cut some of these gems I've found to make them more useful for storing magics..." Eonai excitedly picks up some of her things to show Adyslaine and (if given the opportunity) quickly becomes lost in an utterly bookish conversation of the finer points of both magic and crafting.

Adyslaine beams at Eonai, excited to be able to pass on her knowledge. She leads the young woman to her corner of the Den and engages in conversation with her, her head nodding in agreement every so often.
