Enter the Giants!

North of town a rumbling like a stampede can be heard. As it approaches several of the mugs rattle off of the shaking tables. Shouts and curses can he heard among the thunderous noise.

With a thunderous roar of pain the distant commotion crashes into the shady corner. A huge man lies before the doorway of the inn, a huge spear protruding from his back. His chest rises and falls with labored breath. Over the beast of a man stands two red scaly skinned giants. Large boar like teeth are twisted in a grin as they look down at their quarry.

Removing his spear from the back of the other ogre with a twist, the first turns to the second and says, "Ruun' lag da gull, Kurl gek!" and he raises his spear to the sky. Each of them release a terrifying roar, unfolding their wings the two red skinned ogre fly away without an explanation or another word.

The ogre lay dieing, a pool of it's blood coating the stairs of the inn.

Thalenir skids to a stop some way from the injured ogre, sword and shield in hand. He glances skyward to see if he can catch a glimpse of its attackers. Haven comes to a stop just behind him. Cautiously, Thalenir approaches, prodding the ogre for signs of life. He searches the body, making sure to remove any dangerous items or weapons, then turns to Haven. "Heal him enough so he can speak, then stand back. We need information, not a fight."

Artemis, hearing the comotion from the forge, pokes his head out to see what is up. Spying Thalenir, Haven and the large thing on the ground he comes over.

"Hey guys what happened?"

"Not sure," Thalenir replies without taking his eyes off of the ogre. "We heard what sounded like thunder approaching and came to find this thing in front of the tavern. Whatever left it in this state took off before we showed up. I've got Haven applying first aid so we can question it."

He smirks at Artemis, "If recent experience has taught me anything, though, it's always nice to have some extra help in case things get out of hand. Stick around. We may need you to beat it into submission."

"Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain."
- Wizard of Oz

(((Inspecting the ogre Thalenir, you find no weapons. See your e-mail.)))

Before the first aid can be administered the ogre looks blankly to the distance and says,"Grmmn'lak vornd..... fhrind."

The giant dies.

"Damn," Thalenir mumbles, then turns around and sprints toward the healer's den. His voice can be heard in the distance calling for Nevara.

"Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain."

Dreygor sits on the porch of the warriors hall giving a bemused look at the wizards attempts to help the ogre. To himself he mutters "Seems someone did us a favor, one less ogre in the world is a good thing not a bad" He looks around for Kirell he is sure the big man would love to watch this amusement.

"Dreygor what are you smirking at? What was all of the commotion? and what is that laying in front of the Inn"

"Outstanding! Battle has come to us. Did you see them Drey! What did it? Which way did it go? Common man speak up" Kirell is positively giddy with excitement.

Friends come and go, but enemies gather at my feet in a heap.

Kevass approaches the large heap and pokes it with his sword stating "Looks like the fight has left this one."

"Their like rats. There?s always more than one" Kirell begin to survey the area. "If we find a live one I'll hold it down while you question it" Kirell bursts into laughter.

Dreygor casts his glance at the large angori. "Well I didn't see what happened, but can you believe that wizard wanting to question an ogre? I can see that conversation." Dreygor almost laughs out load. He takes a swig of a cool ale, then answers Kevass. "Yeah it blurted something right before it took its last meaningless breath that much I did see. As for more, i do hope so would be a shame if I have practise for so long not to be tested."

I for one woould like to have an ogre tusk for my trophy necklace.

"If memory serves me, Thalenir talked to the last beast that appeared here, just before it cocooned and tried to kill us." Kirell draws a deep breath. "Give it a second it'll turn it into a fire breathing something or another and we can kill that."

That which does not kill us makes us stronger.

That which does kill us makes us stronger still!

The sparkle in Kevass's eye and grin on his face indicates the utter elation of fighting and killing something new.

After a minute or so Crovax and all his glorious girth finally makes it to where Kevass is standing. "Good Lord this thing stinks." says Crovax. "What is this, and I hope there aren't many more!"

Corvax can't take a moment longer "I'm going inside to get a broom to sweep this thing off the porch."

My friend Corvax, Jastrey is quite the hotbed of activity these days.

"Things are just warming up" Kirell whispers as he cross the street to Hannibals. "I wouldn't waste my time with cleaning up that mess. You don't want to be caught without your weapon today. Not even for a moment."

That which does not kill us makes us stronger.

That which does kill us makes us stronger still!

Dreygor nods at Kirell's comment.

"I agree Kirell, even though someone did us the favor of killing an ogre, giving this towns reputation should always be at the ready."

Looking at his mug and noticing it empty he stands up new breastplate gleaming in the sun and jogs to catch the big Angori.

"Wait up Kirell my mugs empty too, can't wait to try your new selection of fine ales."

Not wanting to get his hands dirty Corvax places his boot on the dead creatures chest and pushes it off the porch. Corvax then says " I find it to be a real problem that there is no Chef or town leader that we can complain to in this town." "If I have to bury this thing then I should at least be able to complain to someone about it." Corvax thinks about what he just said for a moment " HMMM" Stepping off the porch Corvax ties his belt around the dead creatures foot and stars to drag it off towards the woods. " a little help please." He calls after himself.

Seeing the healer straining under the weight of the task, Kirell sheaths his weapons and moves the body of the giant to a suitable place for decompisition. 'You will need those valuable hands for healing my friend. To your point of our need for a leader or constable, I agree this town is in need of strong leadership."

Friends come and go, but enemys gather at my feet in a heap.

A light shines through the darkness as Garith strides toward the tavern the tip of his staff alight guiding him along. He approches Kirell and lifts his head and pull back his hood, "Greetings friend I hear that a strange occurence has befallen Jastrey. Might you be so kind as to inform me what has happened and what still remains to be done?"

Nevara also comes up from the Healer's Den. When she arrives she wrinkles her nose a bit in disgust and quietly watches Corvax's attempts to move the hulking body.
