Esgir's Market Inventory: Buying, Selling, and Trading

Shrayvar had to ask around in order to find out where Esgir Anvilsmither could be found. Shrayvar was still getting used to finding his way through Jastrey. Once armed with the nesseccary knowlege, he wasted no time in tracking the dwarf down. He made a point in being visible before approuching. 
 
"Hello Esgir," he said with a friendly grin. "I understand you've got a very special necklace for sale. Would you consider selling it for fifteen gold?"

[Firstly, apologies for it taking so long to reply; I hadn't refreshed the page in so long that i never saw a reply. >_<]

The dwarf raised an eyebrow as he looked over the feral before him.
"Special necklace? Th' Eye of Desolation? Ay'm afraid aye cannae let ye have something so dark fer so little. An dunnae go mentionin' it around the paladins; the magicks involved in it's creation aren't sumthin' they be takin' kindly te."

Shrayvar glanced over his shoulder when Esgir mentioned the Paladins. "I didn't realize that this would be something that the Paladins concerned themselves with," he admitted. "Not that it matters. Perhaps we should move to somewhere a little more secluded? I'd like to see the eye in action before we get too far into the deal-making."

*chuckling* "A smart move sir; one should'nae ever take someone's word when it comes tae magickal items- if'n anyone told me they 'ad a bauble that could ruin an Anvilsmiter axe from across the room I'd nae believe it meself. Perhaps ye'd like te try it yerself on yer next adventure?"

"I'd think I'd like to first try it when my life isn't on the line," Shrayvar replied dryly. He reached into his pocket to produce a small wooden block. "The eye would work on a weapon of any material, yes? Including wood?"

*nodding* "Ay've nay seen annaething stand agin' it's power short of Adamant. I hope ye've got a way te fix whate'er we test it on- it dunnae fix annaething."

"I could fix a weapon, sure," Shrayvar said idly as he tossed up the piece of wood with one hand and caught it again. "But I'd rather just use this block. Takes less time, and it isn't good for much else really. If the eye can ruin this block without touching it, that would be proof enough for me that it works on steel too."

[Short of having plot arbitrate the effect, I will assume the necklace will have some effect on the block of wood based on the description of "Ruin": "The action renders the affected object useless until Repaired."]

"Alright then."

Shrayvar held the ruined block up to his eye and grinned. "Works like a charm, I'd say. Alright. I'm convinced. I'll give you twenty gold for the eye."
 

*chuckling again* "Yer a persistent one ay'll give ye tha'; but ay'm afraid ay cannae part with it fer that price. Do ye 'ave annaething else for trade?"

"Other things?" Shrayvar tapped his chin thoughtfully. "Well... I've got a hydra skin obi I'd be willing to part with. Great to have if you suddenly find yourself missing an arm. I've got tradable skills too. Foraging, jewlery-making, tailoring..."

"Hmmm, an Obi? Tha's one o' them monk things aye? Does it have annae other abilities?"

Shrayvar nodded. "A lot of monks wear them. The one I already have doesn't possess any other abilities, but I could make it enchantable. Of course, you would have to find somebody with a knack for magic for that part. I could even make something from scratch out of the hydra skins you already have." Shrayvar frowned slightly. "But perhaps that wouldn't do if you want to sell sooner rather than later. If that doesn't float your boat, perhaps I could tempt you with twenty-five gold?"

*stroking my beard a bit as I thought* "Tha'd just about do it. Ye said yer a Forager as well? Ay'll do the deal fer 25 gold, and two Mana Fragments. I dunnae need them immediately, ye can get them te me later; but Ay'll give ye the Eye of Desolation in exchange fer 25 gold and the promise of two Mana Fragments."

Shrayvar shook his head. "Twenty-five gold and the two mana fragmants are too much. But I would accept twenty gold and the two mana fragments for your eye." Shrayvar tilted his head as he realized how odd his statement sounded. "...of desolation."

*inhaling deply, running my hand through my beard again* "25 gold and one Mana Fragment."

Shrayvar didn't even blink. "Twenty gold and three mana fragments."

"Alright then, ye drive a 'ard bargain, but ay'll do it fer 20 gold and 3 Mana Fragments." *offering his hand*

Shrayvar grinned widely and accepted the handshake. "Excellent. So I'll go ahead and give you the gold for the eye now, and then deliver each of the three fragments as soon as I find them?"

"Agreed sir; and 'ere's tha Eye of Desolation." *taking the necklace off, handing it over as you retrieved your gold*

The exchanging of goods went smoothly as Shrayvar handed over the twenty gold with one hand and accepted the Eye of Desolation with the other. "Good, very good," he said. "I'll get to gathering those fragments right away." Shrayvar turned about and left, slipping the Eye of Desolation over his neck and concealing it inside his tunic as he departed.

*Esgir returns from his usual perusal of the other vendors in the market*

"Ay've had quite a few adventurers come askin' as to some Pale Ivory- unpleasant as it is, Ay've ne'er touch'd it meself. However, I did happen to see some o'er there" *gesturing to another stall*

[OOC: Hey everyone who's been asking me about Pale Ivory, there's some on the Open Market right now (8/10/15 8:43am EST). It's already high enough that I don't like the prospect of trying to turn profit on it, but there it is! Go get it! :P ]

Garen was torn. After the standoff a few days past he had very little desire to do buisness dealings with a dwarf. However the duskling also knew that the new healer of his tribe would be more effective if she was harder to disarm. In the end he hoped that Esgir would live up to his reputation as a buisnessman and they could come to a mutually benificial agreement. Garen was in the Market in search of two pieces of Latchvine. He tracked down the dwarf and approached, subtley making sure his hands were nowhere near his sword hilt to show that he meant no ill will. "Esgir, I understand you are in possession of some Latchvine. I would like to purchase two pieces if you will do buisness with me."

[Out of character] so I have the 12 gold for the LV but unfortunately I was in a rush to get on the road sunday morning and did not check it in. I can provide proof that I have the gold via a picture message on Facebook once I get home from work. What can I do as a gesture of good faith to ensure good buisness dealings?

*Esgir turns as he hears his name, his expression was already less amiable than usual, but upon seeing the duskling his expression lost any sense of good spirits; he stood there for a moment looking you over.*

"Yer kind is'nae looked well upon of late- te put it lightly. Yer either very foolish, er very brave. But if ye be in Jastrey and in the open, aye dunnae see why we cannae do business."

*Offering his hand*

"What be yer name?"

"Garen Veniir of the Blood Bears", Garen said as he grasped the dwarfs hand and shook it.

*Esgir's grip rather strong as he shook your hand*

"Blood Bears? Aye'm nae familiar with them; but aye have been absent fer some time."

*releasing your hand*

"We are a family. We look out for each other. We are bound by honor amd blood. One of our newest sisters is in need of a weapon and I bieleve that a Latchvine one would suit her nicely. She is in possessikn of one pice already so two is all I need. She would be here herself but she is new to Jastrey and does not know it as I have come to know it."

"Aye, there seem te be many a new face in Jastrey. If she be in need o' Latchvine, aye kin fix 'er up."

"Excellent. I can provide you with two gold and three silver before sunrise and by tommorow afyernoon a mana fragment as colateral while I get my funds in order. Would this be acceptable?"

[OOC: That's saying you'll get me 2.30g and a mana frag, which is collateral til you get me the other 9.7g? Just double checking.]

[Yeah. Is that going to be ok? I can send the gold as soon as i get home from work]

*The dwarf nods* "That's fine by me." *Offering my hand again.*

"Always a pleasure to do some honest buisness." Garen shakes the dwarfs hand, firmly this time. Just as he was turning to walk home he remembered something. "There was something else actually. You don't seem to have any in stock at the moment but if you could inform me as soon as you aquire some", the duskling lowers his voice, "pale ivory. I would be very greatful"

"Pale Ivory be hard te come by Garen o' the Blood Bears, ye're not the first te come askin'. Aye'll keep an eye out, but it's nae oft'n it turns up."

"I understand. I just wanted to put my feelers out. I bid you good evening sir dwarf. Expext your gold before sunrise and the mana fragment before sunset tommorow."

"Good eve Garen."
