Farm Work

Ling stands upon an empty field, a small foldable table next to him with various instruments and a ledger with various scribbles in it. He holds up a sextant and looks through it, before lowering it again and making some notes. Then looking at the banner that he has put up near the gate that he built over by the road. Near that a small house is built like a house, with a longship for a roof. The waist high stone wall is around the whole farm.

He takes a deep breath and looks around at the small fields of crops. There are two fields with almost ready to harvest summer crops of lettuce, cabbage, and turnips mixed together. The one is still growing with early carrots, leeks, early cabbages, and winter cauliflower; which should be ready to harvest just before frost (in jastery, which as a slightly more mild climate than Ling is use to) and then he can store that all that in the storeroom for winter.

Ling packs up his equipment and begins to head back to his house, moving down the small path back to the front of his farm.

Faro'oq appears in the distance as Ling is inspecting his fields. Once in ear shot he shouts "Hail friend elf there is a good sun over head."
Upon coming closer he grins wide holding his sword over his shoulder and his shield tethered to his back. "Good sun, quite a farm you have going? Been growing new life long?"

Wandering the little traveled trails just outside Jastrey, Marloff comes to a short rock wall. His eyes run the perimeter until he notices a small cottage and a little man gazing fondly at it. Recognizing him as Ling, a difficult and quarrelsome elfish sort of fellow, Marloff turns and continues his journey in another direction.

Ling looked up at the man and waved a hand, shifting the weight of his stuff under his arm. "Hail friend," he said as he got closer, smiling and brushing off the elf comment, some people would never figure it out. "I bought the farm in the month of Gale, after Bloom, I don't know yet what your people call these months, but it was the sixth month of the year." he said waving for the man to join him toward the house. "I used to care for my father's land when he bought a farm, before I returned to Guttland and then found my way here." he said, walking toward the house. "Anyway, we are quite far from town, did you need something? Few come this far just for a chat."

Faro'oq cocked his head sideways and ruffled his feathers. "Just for a chat, no sadly. In fact I believe I hardly know you, but when one goes to learn who knows what they might find. My training area is....." Faro'oq looks around puzzled for a moment before pointing out a group of trees. "I believe there but I won't know till I get there."

Ling nodded and started to put things in a box infront of the house, "The journey means more than the end," he said and smiled, pouring a drink from a keg on a table. "Yes it is true, we know each other little. I don't know your name, however when the time comes to fight beside each other, I doubt that would matter." he turned and offered a drink, while begining to sip his own.

Faro'oq smiled "No thank you, but where are my manners I am Faro'oq the merciful, son of Ishbaar my mother, and you?"

"I am Ling, of the Wolf Clan, adopted by Thorwald, Son of Holger." he said sipping on his drink and turning to write a few things in his book. Scribbling as if he forgot something earlier. "Manners are of such low priority when we are always preparing to fight the agents of darkness, wouldn't you agree Faro'oq?"

Nava pops out from the closest line of trees and skips merrily over to her barbarian and the fluffy feathery sort of man. She happily holds her egg close to stabilize it a bit and keep it warm. "Ling! Ling! What are you doing Ling? WHO'S that man?" She cheerfully calls as she draws nearer stopping next to the two by the end of her words. Her wings are tattered and about ready to fall off, indicating that she's past ready to molt and grow a new pair.
