The Hall of Forging

Akon, hood down, finally catches up to the dwarf at the best place she would guess to find him, the Warriors hall. Coming up behind him, not at all trying to be quiet about it so the dwarf would well know she was there, she waits for him to turn then sets the gold pouch between them on an anvil, sliding it towards his direction. "I did what I did without desire for repayment. I do seek your trust and friendship, but I don't seek to buy it. I know the  trust of a dwarf is rarely given, but once it is, there are few that would ever stand up to your kin's loyalty. I realise your trust will take time to gain, but trust and cooperation is all I seek from you, and I am willing to prove my worthiness of it."

"If you wish to give me this pouch out of desire to help me as a friend, then I shall accept it only as a gift, not a repayment. I saved you from death, and I did it without debt. Mind you, I found it rather disheartening when your eyes woke from death's embrace and your first words were rather....explict towards me. But I understand now that you were upset because you thought I did it so that I would have some grounds to lord over you." She shakes her head leaving the pouch between them. "Nae, friend, you owe me nothing." (OOG: Gold resent).

"I ain't sure if its friendship or no', but I've seen enough Uordeq in me day to see how they treat friends and family.  If ye wish to call it a gift, thats fine by me, just so long as ye take it." he says as he looks up from a chain he is repairing.  "The fact is that we will abide by each other and let it go at that.  Ye've done right by town by me eyes, but I'll not be callin' any Urdek a friend, but I can let sleeping dogs lie a bit, even if they are strong enough to break me chain.  All these surface dwellers ain't never seen any of yer kind in their element, so I can forgive the fact that they just think yer coal skin and bat ears be a curiosity, but it would take much more than ye pickin' me up when I fall to stop the prejudices of yer kind.  I understand that the Urdek that come to the surface be a bit odd fer their kind, but ye can't erase the centuries that yer kind have been slaughterin' and sneakin'.  If ye insist on becoming a martyr fer yer kind that is yer business, but ye've a long vein to mine if that be yer cause."   (OOG pouch sent)

Akon smiles, seeming pleased at the dwarf's words of abiding. She wraps her fingers around the pouch with a nod. "As a gift then."

Lifting it from the anvil, she tucks it under her skirted garments. "I do not seek to change my race, nor make a name for my kind. I merely seek to act in accordance to my personal will and individual decisions. We are on the same grounds in believing my kind are filthy, dirty, back handed, crafty devilish scum." Her tone then suddenly takes on a strong sharpness. "And I'll have it known that if those new hooligans in town think they are going to run a muck? I'll damn well see to it that they learn their place, and fast. I seek to protect this town and its inhabitants, and I will not tolerate such brigands within our walls."

"From what I seen o' those new Urdek, they did the same thing that every Urdek has done when they entered town, but as long as they make no move against me and keep outta me way I will keep a weathered eye on em from afar.  I still ain't too sure how ye charmed ole' Stiers inta yer fold.  I suppose ye got yer ways, but just be knowin' that a dwarf ain't a human; our memories are longer and our will is stronger.  Too flighty these surface dwellers are.  Iffin' they are thinkin' that the Urdek in this town are a representation of yer kind, they are sadly mistaken."  he says with what appears to be a shudder going up his spine.  Anyhow, I've work thats needin' done and things I should be researchin' on, so if there ain't anything else, I trust that ye'll lock the door up tight on yer way out."

Akon bows slightly. "Of course. Keep in mind when you are researching, that my knowledge is of service." She then turns, and lightly closes the door to the Warriors hall as she departs.

Taklinn goes and ensures that the door is locked as Akon departs.  He then goes back to his work on the chain.  He inspects the chain carefully, trying to find why the chain snapped when the werewolf was tied to it.  After several minutes he finds a few links that are not up to his standards.  Taklinn cuts the thick links and begins attaching new ones with welds very carefully.  He slowly goes about his task, trying new techniques and ideas out.  After several hours of labor, the completed chain is put away and he starts casting small tools, varying the ingredients of the alloys to try to make them stronger and with the ability to hold an edge longer.  Satisfied with his few new experiments, he goes his bedroom and pulls a broken axe out of his chest.  Rolling it over in his hands he looks at the broken haft and inspects the workmanship with admiration "Great love was given when ye were forged.  Ye were the pinnacle of a long career I would guess.  If I had made ye, I'm not sure I would have ever returned to strike a hammer again, knowin' that nothin would stand up to yer perfection.  Something bad indeed must have happened to yer master, and he must have fought a mighty foe to have destroyed ye so.".  A scowl comes across Taklinn's face as his mind races back to the sights of the abandoned mines.  "We'll get to the bottom of it, you and I.  We will clear the remainder of the mines and me ears will hear pick and hammer ringin' in the halls again, but we must be prepared fer it first." he growls determinedly.
