The Happy Farmer

As dawn breaks in Jatrey, Jeb rises from a fitful sleep, ready to take on the day.  Since crops haven't been coming in strong yet, lines of worry mar his face as he dresses and eats a meager breakfast.  He cleans his dishes, sets them aside, and exits his cabin heading towards his fields.

Several minutes later, Jeb arrives at his fields.  He glances around, shuts his eyes tight and rubs them, then looks again.  The fields are overgrown with large tomatoes, pumpkins, and giant ears of corn.  Root vegetables seem plush and ready for pulling.  Blueberries that Jeb doesn't seem to remember having even planted are sprouting from thick bushes outlying the fields.  The flowers are in full bloom, and the trees have thick, green leaves.

Jeb wipes his brow and mutters "Well I'll be.  Darndest thing I ever did see.  Reckon' I'll have to get me some help out here to pluck and pull all this.  And OH!  The feast we will have!"  Jeb quickly sets off back to his cabinto make a sign post.  When he's finished, he walks out to the edge of his property and hammers the sign into the ground.  It reads:

"People of Jastrey.  Immortals bless us all!  We have crops for days.  Come one and all, help me reap the rewards and prepare for a feast!"

The day was about to become more fascinating for the newest resident gnome, Thimble. Not long after leaving the very fishy lake, she stumbled upon an extremely overgrown and fruitful farming land. Astonished, she couldn't help but reach out and gently touch one of the giant pumpkins. Finding that it was real, she murmured. "Whoever is growing these surely knows what they're doing..."

She stood there a bit longer, in thought, before making the decision to go and congratulate the person who cultivated such large crops. After climbing over a number of pumpkins and pushing her way past vines and other leafy geens, she found what she assumed to be the entrance to the field, there being a sign and all. She read the sign and beamed with excitement. "Ooh! I love being helpful." She squealed and giggled, going down the path to find the person who put up the sign so she may help them with harvesting the crops.

Zwey trudges from the edge of the field, burdened greatly by an overflowing back pack already full of Jeb's bumper crop. He struggles to properly dismount the load, and lands it on its side as gently as he can, and several large gourds, potatoes, and other dense produce spill out. He notices the Gnome walking up, "Here, come help me sort this lot out. Jeb is floating around somewhere. \"

While out for a ride along the outskirts of town where the farming took place Jael spotted Jeb's sign. After dismounting he took a closer look. Deciding it was a good day to help Jael took Javor's reigns and guided him down the worn path to Jeb's farmland. Once the magestic moose was secured to a tree Jael took a large sack off of the animal's side.  He removed his chainmail and weapons, placing them beside the tree.

"Greetings!" Jael said with a large smile, "I am here to help. I saw the sign and well there could not be a better day to be outside." He turns his head to view all of the crops that had grown, "I was under the assumption that the crops would not be grown yet, but apparently not. The Loreyza blesses this farmland with a bountiful harvest."

While the fields are being taken care of, a lazy bear quiely shambles over to the unknown bluberry bush and begins eating berries. Oh how Ohren loves his blueberries. The bush shakes a bit each time he wraps his lips around the berry and pulls it into his mouth. He smiles happily to himself as his muzzle is slowly dyed purple with the juices of the delicious fruits

From inside his Cabin just past the treeline next to the Farm, Cail is roused by the pounding of a hammer on wood from his few hours of sleep. He dresses quickly and quietly with a stoic look on his face then sets out from where he heard the noise.

Cail spies the Farmer as he nears the fields of copious amounts of produce. He raises a hand in greeting to Jeb. "Goodmorning, Sir. How are you?"

He reads the sign quickly and smiles. "I'll be glad to lend a hand wherever you need it."

Jeb addresses the group as a whole and says 'Well, seems to me my crops just popped right up overnight like a junebug.  Growin' like a weed, they sure are!"  Jeb eyes the still plentiful crops and continues.  "If'n you'uns think you can get it all picked, we'll have us a feast right as rain.  My Abigail makes the best pies in the land!"  At that, Jeb plops up against the fence beside Ohren and begins eating blueberries as fast as he can pick them.

A wild shriek is heard as Abigail Baumgarten rounds the fence, rolling pin in hand, swinging it wildly at Jeb and screakming "They're aren't to be any pies if you keep stuffin' your face with all these lucious little berries!  Off with you, Jeb!  Shoo bear, Shoo! Get on now, get on!  Come back when the pies are done!"

Ohren blinks dumbly at the shrieking woman with the rolling pin. He tilts his head to the side with a bit of confusion and returns to filling his maw with delicious blueberries. Some angry woman with a little rolling pin wasn't going to scare this bear away from his favorite fruit. The bush shakes a bit as he pulls more of the fruit off of the branches with his lips.

"Hmm," mused Cail as he put a hand to his chin. "I don't remember the rain being especially gracious as of late nor are we in any celestial cycle of particular note. Have you used any special fertilizer recently?"

Cail walked towards the tomato plants with a raised eyebrow when he finished speaking listening for the Farmers response.
