Rune approaches the notice board with a large sheet of parchment in one stone hand. The golem hangs it, and heads back in the direction of the Tower. The paper reads:
"Attention Townsfolk, Rune seeks assistance with the Tower. As the main component of the tower is the library, any applicant must be able to translate and understand various texts. In addition to that, applicants must be able to provide three other useful non-combat skills and abilities.
Applicants who are chosen will earn the Docent position. As a Docent, you will be a guide for the tower and help knowledge seekers find what they need . In addition, you are to help with any research projects brought to the Tower. All Docents will participate in maintenance and upkeep of the tower. Docents are welcome to stay in the Tower once the dormitories are completed.
Seek Rune at the Tower for additional information"
(OOP, This is the "Mages"/tower guild. You must be at least 3rd level and have translate, and 3 other story actions on your character sheet. Any class can apply, but Translate must be on your sheet. The guild is public, simply apply to get your name in)
Mittens strolled up to the missive and for the first time in the long time, she smiled. A tower, mages (which were as good as wizards), and a job that involves books rather than people. The most puzzling aspect of the missive was a rainbow crayon scrawl demanding cookies.
"Fey," Mittens muttered grouchily, and checked her bag to see if her emergency fey sweets were stocked--they were thank the immortals. Relaxing into a crouch, Mittens approached the Mage's tower, lookig around suspisciously for fey. Dealing with fairies was always chancey, and mostly she wanted to appease the creature so she could settle into a position she was already comfortable--tower cat.
Glimmer was nowhere to be found, so Mittens pocketed the cookies once more and climbed the stairs on all fours. Even though her knees bent the wrong way, it was still managable and a great deal more comfortable than walking balanced on two legs. So precarious, having only two feet to stand on. It was a wonder humanoids survived at all. Once in the tower, Mittens looked for Rune, her claws scratching on the floor as she went. If she were human, she might have called, but that was not the way of cats. She would wander, aloof until she found him...or until she grew bored in which case she'd meow until someone paid enough attention to give her directions. Which she would ignore and pretend she knew all along.
You had to have some self-respect as a cat.
Glimmer sneaks out behind Rune and withdraws her large rainbow wax crayon. She places the crayon to the paper, writes a message, and then flits back to the tower. It reads as follows:
"There is a small application fee of three cookies per application as I live here, too. Bring them straight to Glimmer and don't anybody tell Rune. He's my pet rock. Be nice."
