Thalenir emerges from the merchant's hall with a pack slung over his left shoulder. His right arm hangs limply at his side. Despite being freshly bandaged, blood stains can be seen along the its length, and a black burn mark in the shape of an "S" can be seen on the back of his hand.
He looks skyward for a moment, ascertaining the positions of the stars in the night sky, then turns, drops his pack, and locks the door to the merchant's hall with his good hand. Finally, he withdraws a note from his pocket and tacks it to the merchant's hall door before hoisting his pack and turning to leave.
The note reads:
To whom it may concern,
I have taken a leave of absence from Jastrey in order to better study my condition. I intend to return by the Second's Second of Nenhrelock, five days from the time of this missive. If you have any legal concerns, please address them to Sheriff Kevass until my return.Regards,
