Hey everyone! So I'm thinking about buying some Dungeons & Dragons books sometime soon, but I've never owned any D&D stuff before and I've only played a few times. I'd really like to know what version of D&D would be the best one to buy, and exactly which books I'd need. Money is an issue, so I don't want to buy anything that I wont need, but I don't want to leave anything out. Any suggestions?
Yea tim, if i get a game together i am gonna play 3.5, i have all the rulebooks you would need on my computer and i could send em to ya, that and if i can get my group together i am trying to at UNCG then you are welcomed to come down and play with me and my college friends
My advice for you, and this makes me the worst game shop employee ever, is not to buy any. :) That's terrible, right? But seriously, you play D&D with a group and the people in the group are guaranteed to have atleast one copy of the books you need - the player's handbook and the DM's manual. And there are different versions of the game which are all -elaborately- different and you can't use one with any of the others. So a 2nd edition Player's Handbook would be worthless in a 3.5 game. So what you should do is go play with people and see what edition games you enjoy the most... then buy a copy of that book. And, usually, you'll hae to watch ebay for them or the used book sections 'cause Wizards of the Coast won't sell you anything but their latest edition. Bugger, huh?
