Lore is Live

The next item on the downtime development agenda is complete, or at least set up enough so that work can proceed. The lore module allows us to define lore articles that include both a "Common Knowledge" entry that anyone can read and a "Full Article" entry that only qualified characters can see. Qualifiers include things like races, classes, skills, conditions, levels, etc., and any lore article can have any number of qualifiers.

I'll be working over the next few months to build up a bank of articles on a variety of topics. If you have an idea for an article, you are more than welcome to contribute it. If your article is accepted into the game canon, you'll be awarded boon in line with the quality of the article, not to mention a byline. If you're not sure whether and article idea will be accepted, feel free to pitch it to me or Nick before you get started.

I've recently added a feature to the lore module that allows plot members to define lore qualifiers for monsters. Characters who meet these qualifiers will then be able to view a monster's license in the same way they might view the full text of a lore article. Obviously, this is a replacement for the old monster lore system, which was cludgey at best, and should make the Monster Lore skill much more worthwhile.

What can I say? When I get the itch to work on something, I get it bad. I've added two more important enhancements to the lore module. Firstly, you can now go to your character sheet and click on the Lore tab to view a list of all lore to which your character has full access. Secondly, plot members can now grant specific characters access to lore articles. This won't show up on the normal list of qualifiers, but will allow that character's owner to read the full article as if they were qualified.
