monks and angori and other questions

first off, affinities are those skill that the class automatically gets? or do you still have to pay the skill cost?

I think you should list the different colors and each could have its own affinity, ie... fighting, magic, hunting... whatever. I also think it should be apart of the makeup. You guys shoul really tell more about them. I think this is a cool race and people will be interested in their history and playing them

thanks WB

The seporate colors that you are refering are mainly different tribes. The racial differences will appear when we feel there is a need for more than one Angori race. We currently provide one racial type for the Angori, called Spirehorn. These are the Noble Angori. The "civilized" Angori if there is such a thing. Thad has hit on the other three "sub" races of Angori. Picture these as seporate but similar, much like wild elf and high elf. Both have poited ears but that's about the only similarity.

The Tribes alternativly are denoted by sometimes striking differences in skin and horn colors. Different tribes are allies and some are at war. This is the only real difference between spirehorn. Colors and combinations for the most part are undefined. So starting a story about your distinct tribe with black horns and gray skin wouldn't be looked down upon.

The Angori lore will hold several tribal colors and variations that are defined already. Such as the blackhorn tribe with blood red skin know for the brothers Kinak and Kodo Blacksmiths of legend. Which two real life brothers need to remind me the name of that tribe for our records.

Heya Wes. Welcome to the party. :)

To answer your question, skill affinities are discounts applied to purchasing skills. No class automatically receives a skill, but skill affinities can make a skill so cheap that you'd be foolish not to buy it. Considering Shamir Ribbreaker is a monk, I highly suggest you pick up Unarmed Combat first.

I assume you're talking about angori. Nick and I briefly discussed sub-races, and we agreed that it's a too early in development to make a slew of different races. The concern here is that new players (especially those with no knowledge of Orn) will feel overwhelmed with too many options. As the game grows, the options will as well, so you may very well see other angori offered as distinct playable races. Personally, I can't wait to flesh out the Scargrim, the Vorhex, and the Dregoth, but right now, you'll just have to make due with Spirehorn. ;)

As far as the lore goes, it's coming. I wish I could say it's a top priority, but there are just too many things that have to work before the game can launch, and lore is admittedly something that can wait until after.
