Hey! I think I created an account on here a really really really long time ago...but I've long since forgotten it.
I'm a player from Nero and Village of Aisu Larps, and I'm looking to playing Shards of Orn now...so, does anyone know how similar or different the rules are from Nero? I think I can adjust fairly quickly, but I was just wondering.
I'm not sure what I'm doing character-wise yet. I'll probably either play as an NPC, or be a fairy, elf, or ixifar. The class depends on which race I decide to play.
I'm looking forward to the October event! I'll be bringing my dad along as well, giving that I'm only 15. But he likes to Larp too (:

My husband and I both LARP and our kids, mother in law and father in law are coming along as well. We have catering for this event if you are interested. Welcome. Shards of Orn is the first LARP I've ever been too, so I wouldn't know much about NERO or any other LARPs. But I love it. Other players tell me it's very much like other LARPs, but a bit more layed back and without a lot of the problems other LARPs tend to have. It's so much fun, and all the players are so friendly and fun. I'd get together with these guys anytime just to sit around and hang. :]
I agree with everything the other two have said. Orn was also my first LARP ever and I had never played any kind of roleplaying game. But it has been the greatest thing I've done in a long time.
And to Mr. Stormbringer - Why haven't we sat around and hung out yet?! You live like 15 minutes away.

I'm thinking about playing a dark fairy druid named Athenia. But, I have a question....can druids still used edged swords? And is latex weaponry allowed?
We allow dark races but we are not a pvp style game, have you seen the rule book entry? It will help a lot with the rules questions. As for edged weapons, no classes have weapon restrictions, the classes are built to reiforce a type of play style. Different weapons cost different skill points t use.
So if you wanted to be a druid with a two handed sword, you could. But it would cost you a lot of skill points. And as for the foam latex, yes we use them.
Hello Athenia. Mechanically, a fairy is a fairy (well, until I do bloodlines, anyway), but you're welcome to have cosmetic differences for character background reasons. Another of our resident fairies, for example, is said to be half-fairy, half-lynx, which explains her savage nature.
Speaking to the NERO ruleset, we have some similarities. Things like white headbands for going out-of-play or calling "Hold" to institute a game pause are likely things you'll recognize.
The core game system, however, is a large departure from what you're probably used to. Magic, for example, exists side-by-side with other extraordinary abilities in something we call the action system. You can still do a lot with magic, but it uses the same system of preparation, execution, and defense as actions used by other classes. On top of that, most abilities, as well as armor points, automatically come back after a minute of rest, so PCs in our system are ready and raring to go most of the time.
Anyway, I would encourage you to read through the game guide if you're curious. If you already know a thing or two about boffer LARPing, you should know more than enough to jump right in with a little orientation.
