A newcomer arrives

Weylyn looked up at the tower, the place where he had been told the library was situated. Interesting that so rough and tumble a place as Jastrey had one, though they did get around alot. Though to be honest the library was only the secondary reason he was here, he'd been told this was the home of the local mage's guild and after having settled down in the area it was probably time to at least make token introductions at the very least.

The fox ulf pushed open the door and stepped inside, rapping his knuckles on the wooden frame to announce himself as he closed the door behind him, his tail flicking instinctively as the doors closed. "Hello? Is anyone here?" He called out in a voice not much louder than normal but carrying in the stillness.

"Please forgive my hesitation at acknowledging your arrival." Marloff step out of the shadows cast by the bookshelves
"I wanted to be sure you had not come with others harboring nefarious intentions."
He tests the side of an iron teapot sitting on a large oak table. Mutters a quiet incantation and steam rises from the spout.
"Care for a spot of tea? The herb grows wild around the tower. It is quite pleasant."

Weylyn's ears twitched as Marloff stepped out of the shadows. "Oh, no need for that. I suppose the way this town is, caution is expected. And a cup of tea would be nice." He said following the other mage. As he watched Marloff heat the water he tilted his head slightly. "Are unwanted individuals that common?"

"No, my furry friend, unwanted guests do not seem that common place here. But as you say, this town does give one pause." Marloff pours a hot cup and sits. "So young one, is it knowledge from the tomes you seek?"

Marloff opens one of his books and thumbs past a few pages, "Now I know who you are. You played at my gaming table just a couple nights ago. Did you not ? You must have sought me out to settle your tab. Very honorable move my friend."

Weylyn chuckled "Honestly I wasn't aware this was where you stayed." He said fishing a few coins out of his belt pouch anyway since it was as good a time as any to pay off the minor debt. "I mostly came to browse, and pay my respects to the master of the mages guild I heard resided in the tower." he said placing the coins near Marloff

"I thank you for your patronage. Please look for me at taverns again and bring your lucky friends as well." Marloff scoops up the silver, "Rune, yes Rune is the one you should seek out. Frankly I am surprised he has not shown himself yet. Be patient, I am sure he will soon."

A pinpoint of blue light appears in the dead center of the library. After a moment, it widens into a howling blue portal. Snow and cold usher in the construct Rune. The golem notices the two enjoying tea, and mercifully closes the portal behind him. "Hello, Marloff. This one has the mana you requested." emits from the construct as it takes four chunks of mana and places them on the table. The golem's blue gaze settles on the fox, and emits: "Hello, welcome to Dalgoon's Tower, Home of the Docents. What can this one do for you?"

Marloff looks over the pieces laid before him by the construct, "Very fine specimens they are too. You are too kind to this old mage. Many thanks to you." After warming his cup, Marloff continues, "I believe this furry fellow seeks you out."

Weylyn bowed slightly at the waist in greeting "I was told this was the home of the local mages guild and the library. It seems that my companions and myself seemed to have settled in the town recently and I was interested in paying my respects and potentially joining. It's certainly more in line with my skills than trying my hand at farming" He explained

The construct nods when the ulf is finished, "This one will speak with Glimmer, and see about getting you moved in. The only current requirements is that you must be able to translate tomes that we find, and aid those in town in thier search for knowledge to the best of your ability. This one is suprised the fae has not already made herself known, as she is fond of animals."

Weylyn's ear twitched as the golem mentioned the fae being fond of animals "Thank you very much. Translation is not a problem and i don't mind helping as needed. " He agreed before tilting his head to the side "Glimmer is another member of the g- Docents?" he said correcting himself on the name.

The tower has grown quiet again and the cool night air drifts across Marloff's face drawing his gaze towards the window. The moon is new and the heavens shine brightly above the darkened town.
"Sure is a beautiful dance this day."
Marloff snuffs his small candle to let starlight fall across the table.
"So soft and sweet..."
He stops mid-thought to start a new.
"Althena will be expecting me. Time for this old man to shuffle off to bed."

The construct nods again, "She is. She has been instrumental in the founding of the guild and making this tower habital again after the Sons took control of it. Glimmer normally keeps to herself when it comes to most guild duties, however. If she does make an appearence, she provides tea and cookies." emits from the construct. Rune points to a staircase leading upwards to the next floor, "The dormitories are up there, take a room and make yourself at home."
