Picking up Bianca

Poppy makes her way through the library looking for a certain ixifar. The fae looked a little on edge. She was a paler then normal and looked exhausted. "Athena?" she called out as she made her way about shifting the weight of a pack she was carrying on her shoulders.

Althena, in the midst of studying, glanced up from the pile of books she had gathered.  Frowning as she recognized the voice, and the concern within that voice, she rose, dusting her hands off upon the apron she wored about her waist.  Straightening, she stepped to pick up Bianca, who was slumbering in a basinet not far from her, and made her way from the library.  "Poppy?" she called out as she made her way toward the fae, cuddling the Riven child close.  "Whatever is the matter?"

Poppy smiles softly at Athena. "I am fine, it has just been an long day." She said laughing lightly. "I had to gather some things for Bianca. I came to pick her up for a week or so to tend to her stitching among other things." The fae said nodding lightly. "We will be making a small trip away from Jastery for a short time"

"Ah," Althena muttered, shifting Bianca slightly as the child awoke.  "That is good.  I have no experience with caring for a Riven child, and have already learned that my field medic stitching will not suffice." She smiles at the vampiric fae as she shifts Bianca to her hip.  "Where are you traveling to?" The Ixifar asks, adding, "And will you need anything else for Bianca?"

Poppy nods softly. "I think I have everything I need." she said. "Ah yes, I have found something to fix that, part of the reason I am taking her for a while." She said shifting the sack that was on her back to the front and pulling out a set of needles and thread that were of very fine quality. "I was able to get up with Pelle, and get a hold of these." "We, will be going a little bit of everywhere, Sirison, Upper Mestar, Rica, Nastal among other places. Her parts are starting to wear, rot, and are starting to get a bit too small. I dont want her to get an infection so I need to find her some replacement ones."

Althena nodded, listening as the fae explained the care, maintenance and reason for the trip she was currently undertaking.  "Thank you, Poppy.  I know Bianca," she lifted the child, who was now giggling, trying to reach forward to the fae before her, "will appreciate it, even if she does not completely understand it."  Tilting her head slightly, she hands the child off to the fae, "Hold one moment, though.  I want you to have the sling I have been using to tote her around. She sleeps quite well in it."

Goose pushed the door of the library open and stepped inside.  He took a look around and let out a whistle, taking in the sight.  So much knowledge among the shelves in this room; this is exactly what he needed.  He had been one of a few tasked with the protection of Bianca, but he knew very little of Rivens, their cultures, or their lives; his life prior to Jastrey had limited interaction with other races.

Unsure of the protocol for being in the Library or where to even begin, he decided it best to see if anyone was around before beginning his search.  "Hello?  I am Goose Igaly.  I've come seeking knowledge."

As Althena passed from the library, wherein she left Poppy and Bianca, she heard a familiar voice.  Shaking her head at the once-again disturbed peace, she stepped toward the entrance, sighting the dryad.  "Goose.  There is no need to shout."  She added a smile to take whatever bite her words may hold.  "All who seek knowledge are welcome."  She tilted her head slightly as she glances back toward the common library.  "You are in luck.  Poppy and Bianca are in the room behind me," she tilts her head toward the room.  "I need to fetch something.  You should go in, as Poppy is taking Bianca on a little trip."

With those words, the Ixifar steps to the stairway, climbing upwards to where Marloff's room was.

Poppy nodded taking the giggling child to hold in her own arms. "Yes, I am sure she will catch on some as she gets older. I think she knows a bit maintenance with her is never a huge fuse. " she siad smiling down at the child. "Mhmm? Yes, do bring it down if it helps her sleep." Poppy said nodding.

Goose bows his head slightly to Althena.  "Thank you."  He then walks into the next room to see Poppy and Bianca.  "Poppy, I was not expecting to see you here.  I trust all is well?"

"Mhmm?" Poppy looks up to see Goose, as she is repacking the needles he had taken out to show Athena, while she balances the small child on her hip. "It goes well, I was just picking up Bianca to take her on a short trip. What brings you to the tower?"

Straightening out the white diaphanous shawl, Althena stepped back into the library, and handed the cloth to Poppy as tshe leaned one hip against a table, waiting for Goose's response. The healer was curious as to why the dryad had visited the tower as well.

"We three have been tasked with Bianca's protection, and Garen has vowed to help. Out of all of us I fear I may be the least knowledgeable. I can not expect to help raise a child who's race and culture I know nothing about. I come seeking knowledge."

He pauses. "And with recent events, I think it best that I research Dwarf and Angori culture and traditions as well."

Poppy takes the cloth from Athena inspecting it for a moment. "Yes, this will help for the warm places and many even help with the bugs in places like Rica."  The fae said nodding folding it and placing it in the bag with the other things till she needed it.

"Ah, I see that is understandable I heard you and the dwarves had bit of a clash." She said nodding towards Goose. "I can help you some with the knowledge of Rivens, though the library is a good place to start. And know a bit on Angori I ran into a few tribes when I lived in Glesmyr. They are an interesting bunch" she said with a light laugh

Thimble had wandered off from Weylyn as he worked on making copies of a text she'd brought in to make public. She'd found herself searching for bardic books although she wasn't quite sure where to start. Not far from where she began to wander did she hear a small amount of conversation a few shelves down the way, she recognized a voice or two.
"Poppy?" Thimble inquired outloud as she made her way over to the chatting group. "Oh! Sorry, the three of you are busy it seems..." Her words died down as she noticed Poppy holding onto a small bundle and there being tiny wings popping from the bundle. Thimble's head could not have been more tilted to one side, part of her torso following with it. "Poppy... Did you have a baby?"

A typical portal snaps open in the library. Cold air rushes into the room and out steps a snow-covered Rune with three books in one stone hand. The portal closes, and steam begins to rise off the golem as it heats its stones to remove the snow. Rune sets two of the books down on the table, and opens the third. It conjures a quill and begins to number the tomes, seemingly un-aware of those in the room for the time being.

Althena watched as the gnomish paladin entered the room, nearly choking on a laugh at Thimble's question to Poppy.  Just as she was about to correct the tiny woman, a gust of cold air rose as Rune's portal opened, causing the Ixifar to shiver slightly at the golem's entrance.  She watched, bemused, as the golem, seeming unaware of those gathered, began its inventory of new books.

Poppy breaks into a fit of giggles at the gnomes question. "No, Thimble I did not have a baby." She shifted the bundle so the gnome could see the baby riven better. "This is Bianca. She is a little riven that just happens to also have fae wings too." she said with a warm smile. " Me, Athena, and Goose were tasked with looking after her for Tre."

The fae looks in the direction of the gust of ice wind to see Rune paying them no mind. The fae lets out a giggle amused with how absorbed in his own world the golem was.

"Oh! Okay, I see the, uh, the stitches now." Thimble stepped a little closer, her eyes fixated on the small being. "I don't know much about Rivens, I know that they are usually made by others but I didn't realize they were also made as babies..." She paused for a moment as a gust of cold air blew through the library, she turned to see Rune enter through a portal and begin doing something with books. Thimble turns back to Poppy, looking at the wee thing again. "Does she have a name?"

Turning slightly from watching Rune, Althena smiled at the gnome as she reached over to stroke aross the baby's head.  "Marcel named her Bianca," she frowned then, tilting her head slightly.  "I seem to recall a last name, something....Mischief....?" She glanced at Poppy, hoping the fae would recall the name given.

Poppy nods in Athena direction "Yes, her full name is Bianca St. Mischief." "Mhh? yes they are very rarely made as children, but nothing really stops you from doing it" she said glancing towards Thimble's direction

Shifting slightly, obviously a little uneasy at the discussion of creating Riven babies, Althena nods at the fae's words.  "Of course, it took Tregard to create one in Jastrey."  She lifts her eyes from Bianca, a tight smile on her face.  "While I would not have supported his decision to do so, the result cannot be denied," she turns her smile toward the babe in Poppy's arms.  "She is a life now, innocent.  And, I think, that between myself, Poppy and," she turns to include the silent dryad.  "Goose and the Bears, I think she will learn to grow with wisdom, and be able to choose a path that is her own."  She turns back to the other women.  "Most Riven are not given such an opportunity."

She nods realizing the subject matter brought up might make the follower of Avaren slightly nervous. She gathers everything up thowing the backpack over her shoulders. "Well, I should be on my way. If you need me for anything I am sure Rune can assist you in finding me, if I had not returned yet that is." She said nodding as she begins to head for the door.

Althena nodded at the fae's parting words, calling out after her, "Take care, Poppy.  Both of yourself and Bianca."  With those words, Althena turns back to the table, and begins to pick up her books.  She will not be studying any further this eve.

Goose, who had remained silent for several minutes, stepped toward Poppy as she turned to leave.  "Poppy, a quick farewell to Bianca, if you don't mind."  He stepped up Poppy and laid a hand tentitively on Bianca's head, ruffling the hair lightly.  A trace of sadness passed over his eyes before he looked back to Poppy.  "A safe trip for both of you, and may the wind be at your back."

He then turned to Althena.  "Lady Althena, if you would be kind enough to point me in the direction of books containing the knowledge I seek, I will bother you no further tonight."

Althena glanced up, watching briefly as Poppy made her way toward the doorway with the infant Riven. Smiling, she turned back toward Goose. "What books were you seeking, Goose?  I've not a vast knowledge of the library, but I may be able to assist."

"Riven life and culture, please," he replied, turning back to Althena.  "Or, whatever the Library has on Rivens."

Tilting her head slightly, arms laden with books, Althena points toward the stairs leading to the main library.  "You shall find what you seek upstairs, in the main library." She smiles slightly as she turns toward the main doorway, arms still laden with books as she leaves the library.
