Rune is seated in a specially carved stone chair in the library. The construct is caked in plaster, stone dust, and paint of various shades. The golem's lights and runes pulse dimly, as if it is tired or drained.
Rune's lights brighten as it's spoken to. It rises, and begins to walk upstairs. "Come, this one will bring you to your rooms."
The newly refurbished level does indeed have a fire place in the center of the room, with several odd chairs surrounding it. As Rune walks into the room, small motes of conjured light fill wall sconces. Rune starts off to the left of the fire, running its hand along the wall while speaking, "This one put in several fixtures and furniture. They soon gained unique properties. The lights are one example." The golem pauses at a small chest of drawers. It opens a small drawer, reaches in, and pulls out a greatsword. It closes the drawer gently, and sets the point of the sword on the ground before continuing, " This is another. Most containers are larger on the inside." The golem uses the greatsword to point at the doors that line the wall. "These are the rooms where we will stay. They developed personalities, and will only let the residents inside."
The door simply swings open, and a cheery "Welcome Home, Swift" emits from the keyhole. Rune nods at the door, "Your door will welcome you, but bar others from entering. As the room is new and un-occupied, it immediatly imprinted on you." Rune puts the sword back into the drawer. The construct then walks over to the bronze fire pit and -conjures- a small flame. Flames roar to life, despite a lack of anything to burn. The fire also produces no smoke, but does provide warmth to those who can feel it. Rune seats itself in anouther one if it's stone chairs, await for the others to claim rooms.
Malkonius, having followed along with Swift and Rune, decided to chime in.
"A'right then, where is it that I'll be stayin'? Let's see if'n it'll hold up to a Dwarf's preference. Just pick any door then, that right, Rune?"
Malkonius walks over to the last door in the hall, and reaches out to open it.
At the sound of Rune explaining the doors imprint on those that open them, Glimmer flits full speed ahead at the door to the library, smacking into it with a loud "THWACK!" After several desperate attempts to claw at and hang onto the door, she slumps sullenly on the floor. Her right hand shoots up in the air before she uses it to dive into her pouch, withdrawing her precious crayon set. She begins drawing pictures on the door and can be heard saying "Well since you won't prints on me, I'll prints on you. You're my door now, door. You hear me door? YOU'RE MY DOOR!" She continues coloring as if this is perfectly normal behavior.
"Well, I guess I'll be staying here.", says Swift. "It has been awhile since I have stayed in one place for so long. Ixifar have a slight wanderlust streak."
"Ummm...." Swift raises an eyebrow.
"Glimmer why don't you make signs for each door instead of drawing on them."
Rune stands and walks over to the fae, his stones groaning and scraping in protest. "Glimmer, you must approach the door calmly, and present yourself to it. Your previous attempt barred the door, as it percived it as an attempted forced entry." The golem glances at the now graffitied door, but says nothing.
At the suggestion from Swift, Glimmer tilts her head to the side, cocking an eyebrow at him but saying nothing. She pulls a paper from her pouch and begins spelling two words to the best of her ability. She begins to consider Rune's words and stands to face the door, moving slightly behind Swift and Rune, placing her hands on Swift's back as she calls out to the door. "HELLO DOOR. YOU ARE MY DOOR AND I AM GLIMMER. AND YOU ARE MY DOOR. AND THIS IS MY RUNE. YOU HEAR ME DOOR? I'LL CHOP YOUR EVERYTHINGS OFF IF YOU MESS WITH US! GOT THAT, DOOR!" Glimmer then sits back down and begins stuffing cookies in her mouth. The paper she was writing on now hangs on Swift's back, unbeknownst to him. It reads "FRY ME".
The door in front of the dwarf swings wide with no protest.
The door in front of the fae shudders, and sheepishly opens a small amount.
Rune observes the fae place the paper on the ixifar's back, and in his typical analytical fashion states; "Fae custom, malicious intent common amongst unselie courts. Not worth mentioning." Rune re-seats himself across from the ixifar before addressing him. "This one has no expectations. A larger group of Docents will result in more knowledge gathered and preserved. As this organization has no leader, nor any structure, people can come and go as they please. This one learned that structure and mages do not mix."
Rune at first does not answer. It silently contemplates the question before offering; "There are few things that are purely harmful in this world. Many things are like steel or stone; while the materiel itself is not bad, its what you make with it. The only knowledge we should never seek are the Words of Undoing."
Rune emits; "The Words of Undoing are used to destroy. They tear at the very fabric of the magical and matieriel words. Once, a necromancer named Jeddit used them to craft a tome of malevolent magics. The magic of Jeddit created the Wraithwood, and it is he who controls most of the undead therein." The golem's lights and runes pulse at it searches it's docent for further information on the topic. "Should you need additional information, you can find it in the dark arts and necromancy section downstairs. Should we ever find the tome Jeddit created, called the Emoditilum, this would like to have it destroyed as it fears the Words lie within. This one realizes it sounds hypocritical"
As if just talking about the Words of Undoing could summon a practitioner of the dark arts, the tower doors creaked open.
"Hellooooooooooooooo" called the Unseelie who appeared to already have one foot in the grave. Spyder flitted in on her skeletal wings, her good eye obviously searching for people while her deadened white eye presumably did the same, even though it was more difficult to tell where that eye was looking.
Glimmer hear's the Fae's call and flits down the stairs excitedly. "HIIIIya Spyder! Whatcha doins' here! Wanna come upstairs and see my door? Rune says I can have a door. The door didn't want to listen so I yelled at it and telled it it was my door and now it is my door." Glimmer takes a gulping breath and stuffs several cookies in her mouth. She then begins to drool slightly and stares at the other Fae's bad eye. Through a cookie filled mouth she garbles out "I can't tell right or not, but I thinks this eyeball is lookin at me. You lookin at me, eyeball? YOU LOOKIN AT ME?!" Glimmer grabs Spyder by the hand and drags her up the stairs. As they near the top, she whispers quietly "Come by here at night when they're all sleepin and I'll show you the dirty dark dungeon!"
Rune rises from it's seat to receive the additional fae. "Greetings, Spyder. This one did not expect to find you this far up the Tower. Welcome, Poppy. The rabbits have been well taken care of. This one is actually having issues controlling their explosive reproduction rate. Assistance may be needed." Rune then addresses both of them, "Welcome to the Docent Dormitories."
Spyder managed to respond while Glimmer's cookies seemed to take her to another place. "Well, Rune said I should come by the tower sometime and I guess it's sometime!" The interrogation of her eyeball made the fae giggle all the way up the stairs with Glimmer, until she whispered to her. She pursed her lips and wiggled her eyebrows in great interest. She gave a small wave to Poppy and Rune, letting her eyes roam. "Daka daka tea." She repeated with little effort to do so correctly.
Covered in layers of road dust, up walks up a tall man robed and hooded in green and a white staff.
"As always it appears you continue to out do yourself, Rune."
With wearyiness, the hood is thrown back to reveal Kaelan.
"I do apologize for my absense but I have been unavoidablily detained in my travel. However, my trip was successful. I managed to bring back a number of volumes of arcana, herb lore, and enchanting that were missing from the library or were damaged when we recovered the Tower when the books were animated."
Kaelan takes off a very large heavy pack and hands it over to Rune. He, of course takes it as if was just a single book.
Rune takes the books and takes them from the bag. The thumbs through them, quickly inspecting them before saying; "Thank you, Kaelen. This one is glad your found these. This one is also experiance relief, as these are not more Tenda Caukfingas tomes, despite their popularity. Please, secure a room for yourself, and rest."
"Thank you my friend."
Kaelan walks down a few doors and places his hand on one of the suite doors. He turns the knob and the door opens to his touch. The door speaks, "Welcome home, Kaelan."
Stepping inside, Kaelan take a deep breathe and let's out a sigh. Kaelan say to himself, "A home. This feels like home. I had no idea my travels would have been so exhausting."
Kaelan begins to settle in to his new quarters.
The books seemed to catch Spyder's attention. Her good eye fixed on each one as Rune looked them over. She crinkled her nose in thought briefly, before moving closer to one of the tower walls. She placed an open palm to the stone, closing her good eye. "How long has this place been here?" She asked, not really waiting for an answer as she mused aloud, "I wonder if anything fun has died here."
Malkonius walks up to the Golem. He knows the task of building dormitories was a huge task for Rune, but he never thought he'd see the Simulacrum so exhausted. In fact, he never thought they could even become exhausted in the first place.
"So, I take it they're finish'd? If ya don't mind, I'd like to see what you've dun with me own eyes. Let's see if'n a Golem's craftsmanship can hold up to a Dwarf's! BWAHAHAHAHAHA!"
He puts his hand down hard on the Golem's shoulder.
"I'm only jokin' o' course! I'm sure it looks great, what with all the work you put into all this! Rest up, but I expect a tour from ya soon!"
