Rasiri hurried around his newly aquired space in the tower and set up all of the thing he would need. His hands worked swiftly as he put up the framing of beds and set up incense around the room as well as a small podium on a dias. He smiled as his work neared completion and he put up practice targets and laughed when he finished. The space was open and well adjusted for his pupils. "I am so glad i got this space, maybe people will start to be interested now... Now just to find students." Rasiri walks over to a small wall safe and channels a bit of energy into it to pull of Dalgoon's Book. "I hope this helps like i think it will."
"It's not in the Library. it's in my hands." Rasiri nods and looks at the book. "The only reason i have it here is that i am intending to use it to teach. This town knows far too little of Esprice and i am borrowing a space from the Brotherhood. I am here to start a seer's college, 'Learning in the higher powers of your dreams'. I could use some help you know. You are the only really accomplished or established seer in this town besides me." Rasiri smiles wolfishly. "If you could hold back your sneers and jeers and arrgoance for a little while i think we could work well together."
Solas opened his mouth to mutter a clever quip, but opted to stay silent instead. He sighed heavily, before pinching the bridge of his nose.
"I have to admit, Cassitran, you have a point." He knew he would come to regret those words. "The people here are ignorant to the ways of the Esper, and the power of the Astral." He takes out his pipe. "You mind?" He lights it without waiting for a response. "Those who practice magical arts tend to lean more towards the healing power of the Prime. The ones who practice more..." He trakes a long drag on his pipe before exhaling a thick plume of gray smoke. "Offensive magic lean toward the destructive nature of the Maelstorm, or worse, the Pit." He spits.
Leofrick appears out from the shadow of a book case, and strode forward to Rasiri and the empyrean standing together. "Good day Solas, Father. Not everyone is ignorant in this town to the ways of the Esper, You both are proof of that. But dark arts, healing or, the Esper be glad others wish to learn magic in one or more of the many forms in portrays itself. But, to other things, what would like me to do father?"
Solas shakes his head, a smile playing across his empyrean features.
"The bastard son of a bastard son. Only an uordeq would advertise something so convoluted. And technically speakin Rasiri here ain't much of a Cassitran either. Ol Alexi disowned him." Solas begins to adopt an almost dwarven accent before clearing his throat.
"you're right about one thing. Regardless of where a magician draws their power, there magic is o less legitimate than mine. I wasn't making any attempt to put esprice on some sort of high horse, master Leofrick. I was merely pointing out the fact that it is rarely learned."
"Oh, no doubt m'lord Solas, I've only seen a handful of seers in my time, healers and warlocks ar another story." But you've finally got your wish Father, you will finally set up the Seers' College." Leofrick pats Rasiri on the shoulder and procedes to a chair against the wall to sit.
Rasiri had asked Janos to show up at some point in the tower to learn. So he had. The fey scratches his messy hair and yawned. He didn't sleep much. Weird dreams that all seer's got weren't the problem. The fact that Jastery was a city and didn't have much in touch with Nature was what really made him grumpy. Nevertheless he showed up at the Tower to learn. Though he often claimed his powers to be a gift from the natural world, he knew better, but never enough to satisfy is intense interests.
Rasiri smiles fainly at Leo and snickers, "Now lion, i told you not to advertise. You won't be so happy about it later i can assure you." Rasiri's face becomes serious and he glances at solas, "This is what i have so far Professor Solas, A fairy and a half uordeq but i a m thinking on spreading the word. mind magic is far too powerful to be left alone. Especially in a town like this that could use any ounce of extra power it can get. But to be completely honest... I don't think seer's are the only ones in need of higher learning. This town has many needs... even more now that the threat of the Dracolich is back. I don't envy the people that died trying to fight him last time. It was almost a slaughter house. The healers have the Healers Den the fighters have their Hall and now the mages need to rally together if we are going to face this threat on any of the ones to come. Most people don't think i have the good of this town in mind, but i do. I really do. I fell in love with this town and it's inhabitants a long time ago when i first stuck my ugly face around it. We need to be ready. So as long as you are still around or anywhere in the area.... I could use you help." Rasiri takes a long sigh and looks at the ground at solas' feet. "I wouldn't give this town or it's people up for anyplace or anyone in Orn." Rasiri's face glazes over in a kind of nastalgia. "But anyway. Lion, Wings, We need to get to work." He then walks over to his podium and stands there for a moment.
Solas's look was stern and cold. No smile played at the corner of his lips, no eyebrows cocked in curiousity.
"Terrible things are happening in Jastrey. And they're going to continue to happen. You don't need to be a Seer to see that." And he believed it. He knew, on some deeper level that Orn was getting darker. He turns toward the new apprentices, Leofrick and this 'Wings' fellow.
"Lesson number one. Magic is a manifestation of what you believe in. You can't weave together a spell you don't believe in." Solas seems to zone out. "Mine comes from a desire to see to it that someone stands between the darkness and those it would devour."
Solas smiles, not a grin, nor a smirk. For once, there is no sarcasm or arrogance in the smile, only a smile.
"A long time ago I made a promise to a dwarf, to appoint myself a protector of these people and make myself an enemy of anyone who would do them harm." Finally he looks back toward Rasiri.
"It's not going to be easy, Rasiri. But then Nothing worth doing is ever easy."
Janos, as a fairy, didn't really understand the way these people were talking about magic. For fey it was simply a part of them. Even their 'none magic warriors' still were intrinsically magical in a way similar, but not quite the same as the imperians or the drakna. "I'm not sure I understand what you two are talking about..." He said a tad confused. Though this confusion would probably be mistaken for pure ignorance on his own part rather than just having a different frame of mental reference.
Glimmer enters the tower and follows the voices she hears. Wondering why Rasiri and Solas, Leofrick and Janos are about, she turns into the room. "Hello darlings. My dear Janos! The tower suits you dear. Hello Solas! And I suppose hello to you as well, Leo." Glimmer takes a decided stance, pulling out a pouch of cookies and tossing them to Janos. She then notices something amiss, and her face turns a very hot shade of pink, before screaming directly in Solas' face. "SOOO-LAAAAAAAAAAAAS! What in the WINGS is THAT doing here?! Are you serious? You can't be. You jest you pesky pesky blind mind. THAT is surely NOT the ONE THING you SWORE would never enter this tower again!" Glimmer eyes the Book of Dalgoon wildly and begins speaking a mostly unheard language of her people to Rasiri. "Loscadh is dó ort, Go mbeire an diabhal leis thú. Imeacht gan teacht ort, Titim gan éirí ort!" ("Scorching and burning on you, may the devil take you with him. May you leave without returning, may you fall without rising!") Glimmer turns back to Solas, tears streaming down her face, as she places her hands on the walls of the tower and bows her head. Speaking to Janos, she says "You know not what this is. Nor the powers it holds. It will see this tower destroyed again, nye a heapin mess o' crushed wings ye shall BE!" "You swore..." she says to Solas as she turns to leave the room.
Solas starts to answer Janos's question but is interrupted when Glimmer enters the room.
"Glimmer wait!" Solas shouts after the fae. "I didn't brin-" he stops himself, beat. "you're right. I promised you the book wouldn't end up in the tower, yet here it is. For that I sincerely apologize. I was responsible for the book. I turned it over to Rasiri, here, who rented some space from the brotherhood. He let the thing cross the threshold of this place. And although that doesn't absolve me of responsibility, and therefore blame, I figured you would want to know."
Glimmer, eys wild, turns on Rasiri "WHAT possible reason could you have for bringing that back here with it's history? For some stupid College that doesn't involve ANY of the owners of this tower? How many times has the tower fallen because of that book? HOW MANY! You care NOTHING for the people of this town. You care only for yourself, as any Uordeq would. Oh but wait, you aren't even technically that. They don't recognize you as one of their own anymore after that little run in with Alyial, now do they? Yet again, you just don't listen. Now I see the allegience to Akon. At least she's proper in her destruction. You hide behind a book to make you look big and mighty. You've nothing left, do you Rasiri? Don't call on the Dawn. We've left you, too. You know what's worse? I respected that book enough to leave it in the hands of someone knowledgeable enough oto handle it. Solas gave it to you, and the first thing you do is the very thing he knew wasn't so. You shouldn't have it. I hope it never opens for yo, and that it tears everything you love away from you. This tower is MY HOME! I took care of this place, and it's rebuilding when the Brotherhood was away. Either the book goes, or I do. Do you want to uproot a Fae from her home? I don't care WHERE you take it, but it, nor you at this point is welcome here."
Glimmer turns to Solas and says "While I understand you have things you need to accomplish, learn from this. This is what that book does. Why you've handed it to Rasiri, I'll never understand, as you are much more capable of dealing with it's atrocities during your training. You're forgiven, if he gets it out of here."
Glimmer rights her skirts and turns to Janos. "Be careful, Fae. You know not yet the dangers within. You weren't here when it tore this tower down, on numerous occasions. You know the meaning of a Fae's home. We have no mounds here. That's not safe. This and the Dawn are all I have."
Cail, perturbed and distrubed in from his studying by all the noise from the next room, stood from his chair with a low growl in his throat and stepped purposely and with a fire in his eyes in to the doorway of Rasiri's room and said with utter frustration, "Can we PLEASE keep the noise down? Some people are actually studying in the library across the hall."
Seeing Glimmer in the room as well, Cail tried to make up for his previous statement by saying, "I apologize for my tone, but as all of you may well understand, utter silence is of the utmost importance in my endeavours."
Leofrick looked at the fairy that came in from the door. "Madam Glimmer, I hold no grudge for you or other fae. As for the book, Father may do with it what he wills to do so, even if it causes his downfall." Leofrick stood from his chair and took a book from the bookcase. "The book may be an issue to you, but to others not as much dear fairy."
Rasiri stops and stares daggers at the Glimmer. "Okay glimmer. Have it your way. All i ever try to do is help. EVER try to do. I thought the seer's of this town could benifit from having it but you you and your stupid Dawn and the Brotherhood and the Ring! No one wants me to help!! Noone will let me! All i am is someone that tries... I try to be there for anyone who needs me i TRY to be the best uordeq i can POSIBLY be and I FIGHT MY VERY NATURE AND FOR WHAT!?!?! TO BE TREATED LIKE A LEPER AND A SINNER BY EVERYONE I PROTECT AND FIGHT FOR!! THIS TOWN IS MY HOME TOO!!" Rasiri walks over to the podium and grabs the book and flings it out of the door over glimmer's shoulder with all of his might. "IF YOU WANT IT GONE YOU SPARKLE JUNKIEI THEN GET IT OUT OF MY SIGHT" Rasiri turns and looks away for a second and dips his head. "Oh and Glimmer? If the entire Dawn feels this way, tell as much as i love them, Tell Thalenir and Taklinn to procect their own damn secrets." Rasiri Flips his hood up, and turns to everyone else. "I'll be back to teach tomorrow. until then class dismissed." And with that he turns on his heel and sweeps through the door, turning into a wisp of black smoke as soon as his foot hits the doorframe.
Leofrick looks at Solas. "What would a Grimoire do to me Solas, it's not going to much more damage than what's been done to me my friend. But since you asked for it so kindly, here." Leofrick tosses the book throught the book back to the empyrean and turns to find Rasiri and mutters. "It doesn't want me to have it anyways."
Solas wears a blank expression, He does his best not to show emotion as he strides over to the book, bends down, and picks it up. Once he has it in his hands he lets a smile flash on his lips.
"Back where you belong." He turns to Glimmer. "I do apologize for all this. Once again, we see that the book is back in my possession. And once again I will promise to keep it that way." He gives her a warm and friendly smile. He reaches into his pouch and produces a piece of candie. He offers it to her. "I've taken to carrying them around, what with all the fairies running mail around town."
Janos caught the cookies tossed at him and proceeded to munch on them until while watching this entire drama play out. The enpassioned cries from both Risiri and Glimmer were really quite powerful. If they were thespians of some sort, they would probably have been rewarded. However this was life and nothing of the sort happened in their world.
"So.....story time? Cause I've no idea why all of that just happened. " He finished his cookies. "Thanks for the cookies, by the way." He still sat where he'd been sitting for a while, the two that remained.
Solas saunters into this room in the tower, taking long and deliberate steps. His long coat flutters elegantly at his ankles. Both hands are behind his back, giving him an air of purpose, if not arrogance. Securely blocking his eyes is a black slip cloth, but clearly visible is his stern expression.
"Cassitran." He says, putting will into the name. "What is all this? And most importantly, what are you doing with that?" He nods at the blue and silver Astral grimoire. "I made a promise to madam Glimmer that that book would not end up in the library. I'm sure she'll be none to happy with me if she finds out its back in her tower." Solas seems to glide across the room as he moves closer to the uordeq. "tell me, Rasiri. What is it you plan on doing here, exactly?"
