Rune walks with purposeful, heavy footsteps to the center of town where a large board stood. Various bounties, advertisements for brothels, and scams were posted here. The golem walks up to the board and swipes a stone arm across the entire middle of the board. In this space, the golem places a large piece of parchment. The runes that cover the golem begin to glow as the golem raises his right arm as if to strike the board. A hammer appears in this hand, and a nail floats over one corner of the paper. With deft strokes of his hammer, Rune slams a nail into each corner of the parchment.

The Golem takes a step back to check his work. The hammer dissipates but the nails remain. The post reads:

ATTENTION:

Citizens of Quito and the Refugees of Jastrey,

The Ixifar of Purple and Green plumage Tregard has been entrusted by the Society of Scholars with a research project.

DO NOT submit to any tests, agreements, or offers from this ixifar while this project is in his possession. A follow up post will be made when the project is over.

If anyone notices the ixifar missing or acting strangely, notify Thalenir Lestral or the golem Rune.

This is a public safety announcement. Thank You for your time.

"Thats just a bit rude, wouldn't you think Ser Golem?" Pelle asked as he approached from behin the golem. "You didn't even tell them what to beware. How do you expect the citizens of this fine town to make their own decisions?" A faint frown pulled across the Rivens face. "I don't like the idea of all 'this' as much as you. But I'd prefer if the stories I've heard from your friends were not recreated, atleast not here."

The golem, without turning to face the riven, speaks loudly. "The manner of Jastrey's destruction and the project are entirely different spells. One was done by an Immortal, one is a scrap of evil paper." The the base of the golem's staff hits the dirt, as he expects to stand here for some time. "I did not wish to paint a target on the Society. We will have enough trouble killing any rogue mages, let alone those who peruse the projects they were researching."

"Yet it seems that the immortal and the scrap of paper are deeply intertwined, no?" Pelle replied, crossing his arms over his chest. The riven squinted his eyes slightly. "Also, such a strange way to not paint a target on this Society. Afterall, just putting out to the public at large that the new mages in town are possibly dangerous could never have adverse reactions, could it? Do as you will, Stone Wizard. I have things to attend to." The riven offered a slight bow before turning away, walking back into an alleyway near the board.

"Watch the Ixifar." The golem locks its knees and other joints. It's runes go out, but it's eyes remain glowing. Rune remains near the board should any townsfolk or refugees have questions.

Some time later Treyskip appears on road.  The warlock is engrossed in a book and doesn't notice the golem until he is several paces past it..

"Master... " Treyskip greets the wizard, but the gleam of the runes causes to him to stop speaking.  He studies the note for a long minute, and his eyebrows furrow. Controlling his facial expressions, the ixifar turns back to Rune.
"I guess this is your work?" he asks in a neutral tone.

"It is." said the golem flatly. The golem takes note of the ixifar's agitation. Rune's runes glow again briefly, and conjures a scrap of paper. He offers it to the ixifar and says, "We should speak, as we did not get to at the meeting."

Treyskip glances at scrap of paper in the golem's hand.  "Yes, we do"

A well dressed man approaches the post. He wears an expensive looking gray coat on top of an expensive looking red vest, on top of an expensive looking white collared shirt. His graying hair is slicked back, neatly. Giving him the look of a well-off land owner. But the feature that stands out the most is his ashen colored skin, a pale white. He has high cheek bones, and sunken eyes.
He studies the piece of parchment carefully with sunken amber eyes, the color of polished golden coins
"Very interesting." He mutters to no one in particular. "Society of Scholars."

To anyone near the boards, a sound akin to someone slowly dumping water out of a bucket can be a heard. A very soggy golem returns to his post to find a well dressed man observing his post. Rune reaches the board soon after he reads the guild name aloud. The golems runes begin to glow, and various critters run from it's robes before it speaks in a firm, flat tone; "Can this one help you?

The older gentleman eyes the golem up and down.
"I'm not sure. No, I doubt it." He says with a smile that wouldn't look friendly on a tiger. "Where is your Master, the one who made you?"

Rune narrows his lights at the gentleman. "The Creator is dead. He died during the animation spell." The golem's docent glows dully under Rune's clothes as he takes in the old man. When finished, the golem moves to stand next to the announcement.

Behind the golem appears a semi-nude wet Ixifar carrying a large bundle above his head.  He sets the package down and begins unwrapping it. White robe and trousers come off a large book and are set  aside.  Treyskip straightens up and preens his feathers in  the warm sunlight.  "A slight miscalculation on the tide there, Master Rune."

"Ah, I understand." The man says, before turning to the post again. "You're Rune, I take it." He regards the approaching green and purple plummage ixifar with a steady expression. "And you must be Treygard."

"Yes, I am." Rune looks at Treygard, "I have. I watched it one night, but it is inconsistent." The golem's docent blinks twice in rapid succession. The golem looks once more at the old man, "A woman spoke of a sultan. Are you that man?"

The ixifar stops preening. " Treyskip, but I understand how one could be confused. The was a trey trey but he went cray cray. Now there's only skip and the horn."  Treyskip giggles softly, closes his eyes and tilts his head towards the sun.

The man turns his head toward the golem. "Sultan? No. I am..." he begins slowly, pausing briefly to choose the words. "Not from around here." He chews on the words carefully. "My apologies Treyskip. If I may be so bold, what is your society's purpose?"

In an instant, every rune, marking, crack and any other gap in the golem's rock burst with blue and green light. The golem disappears in a flash of blue light (Haste, Teleport) and appears behind the well dressed man. When the golem appears, his staff is drawn and resting just a few inches off one of his shoulders, ready to cave the man's head in at a moments notice. "Begin giving any and all information that relates to your Name immediately" Rune's markings pulse in unison, ready to unleash a torrent of the Aether. "This one believes you to be a Son"

Treyskip's head snaps forward and a purple aura surrounds him.  "F..king dwarven constructs," he mumbles.  He glides himself between the old man and the golem.. "Rune, we do not  threaten nameless organics."

The ashen skinned man's amber eyes gleam brightly, as the golem begins to teleport. He moves to react but stops himself, instead falling to the ground.
"Please, please." He repeats, putting up his hands. "I'm sorry. I'm just a scholar. Please don't hurt me."

"Give this one a Name." The golem continues to bristle with arcane energy, be it does lower it's staff.

"Alexander De'Lapore." He says, his eyes begin to moisten. "My name is Alexander De'Lapore. Please don't hurt me. I'm not a..." he pauses to inhale and exhale quickly. "I'm not a- whatever you think I am."

"Monsieur DeLapore, please do stand up."   Treyskip sounds digusted at Rune's haste and DeLapore's weakness.

Runes light glow brighter and he picks up his staff in both hands. The golem quickly slams the haft into the ground while saying, "Into the Aether I Go". Rune blinks out of excistance,(teleport) and reappears in front of the man a moment later, with a stone hand lowered to Alexander. "Please, excuse this one." The golem helps the man up, if the man takes his hand. "Fellow Scholars are always welcome. Can this one get you something?" The golem attempts to -conjure- bread and a goblet of wine in the hand not offered to the man. Rune's staff hangs harmlessly across his back.

The pale man eyes the stone giant's hand warily before grabing hold, and hoisting himself to his feet. He wipes his sunken eyes with a handkerchief.
"No, no." He says. "I'm quite alright." He grabs a hold of one of his own arms and twists his torso, stretching. He lets out a long throaty cough.

The aura around Treyskip vanishes and he heads over to  his clothes.  As  he pulls on the trousers he asks DeLapore. " So what do you study?"

Rune quickly makes the beverage and bread vanish. "Why have you come?"

The gentleman smiles at Treyskip. "I study all sorts of things. Ancient history, magical theory. Potionmaking." he turns briefly to Rune. "And I've come to learn more about this Society of Scholars."

Treyskip flashes a bright white smile at the schlolar.  "And  how convenient that  you happen upon two members of  the Society." He scowls at Rune. " At the only place that inconveiently advertises said group. " Treyskip makes a flourish with his right hand. " Almost like pulling a white rabbit out a very elegant hat"

The ixifar's comment goes completely over the golem's head. It does look at the ixifar and says "Do you think it would be safe to bring him before the Society?"

the pale skinned man's eyes gleam at the prospect. "I was curious as to the nature of your studies." He says. "What is the meaning of this post?" He motions to Rune's notice on the board.

"This one will leave it to the Society as to if you are trustworthy." says the golem.

Treyskip puts up a had to forestall Rune's reply.  He saunters over to pale man.. "That's a private project that should not have been made public....yet?"  The warlock looks thoughtfully at Lapore and the purple aura appears again.  " Are you a mage, Mr. DeLapore?"

The man's brow furrows. "Are you people usually so distrusting?" He gazes angrily at the Golem, golden eyes burning bright. "You post a message about how we should bewary of this Ixifar." A hand motions toward Trey. "I ask you what it is we should be afraid of, what this is concerning, and you tell me that I'm untrustworthy, accusing me of being a son. Who are you people?" He runs a single hand through his hair, readjusting any loosened strands. He breathes heavily for a few moments before regarding Treyskip.
"I know a few arcane tricks. It's been a while since I've done any heavy lifting though." A smile returns to the pale face.

"When your home is destroyed by a petty god, so trusting you will not be." says Rune, his voice as deadpan as ever. A light on his chest blinks afew times before the golem continues. "It is not the ixifar that should be feared, but what he has been trusted with.  The rest of this converstation should be held privately."

The ixifar notices the man's change in tone.  "Yes, this is Society buisness now. But, first...."  Treyskip steps closer to DeLapore and demands " Say Secronus"

The man blinks a few times, unsure. "I'm not sure I understand." He says, a confused tone in his voice. "Secronus." He says the name casually, as if as part of a list. "I can name most of the Immortals if you'd like?" He says. "Do all in your society behave in such a manner?" He asks.

Treyskip laughs in the man's face.. " No, only the crazy ones."   He gestures to  Rune,  "We should find the other members of our guild. The library, perhaps."  The warlock picks up his book and beckons the other two to come.

The pale gentleman just sort of nods, eyeing the two carefully. "Right well," he begins. "I'm afraid this is where we part ways for now. I hope to see you both again very soon." He flashes a wicked smile before walking, head high around a corner. Into the alley way between two buildings.
