Rebuilding

Early the next morning, a dull repeated thud can be heard in the woods outside of Jastrey. If one were to draw closer, the sound became more and more clear. Axe against wood. The sound continued for several minutes before the crack crack creak, brush of branches and crash could be heard of the felled tree. Akon wipes her forehead free of the slight beads of sweat. For once the woman wasn't armored head to toe. She wore a simple set of leather pants, and a leather vest. She then went to work copping off the branches along the trunk. Each branch came off with one mighty swing, as she quickly worked the length of the tree. (Strength 3).

Ohren wakes up with a splitting headache from the night before. He sees Akon working on rebuilding the tavern. "OH CRAP! I gotta get back to  workin on da lodge!" Suddenly Ohren bends over and starts retching up everything from the previous night. "Oh, Im never drinkin dat stuff again." Ohren turns back to his own construction, and very carefully resumes the work he put on hold the night before.

Katri stretched her arms over her head as she approached Akon and the tree she had just felled. Upon seeing her mentor hard at work alone, she quickly discarded her cloak, mask and weaponry- bow, sword and quiver- under another nearby tree.

"At work awfully early after last night my Lady. Perhaps you would like the small help I could give?" Katri asked, already picking up an arm load of smaller and medium sized branches and sticks and placing them in a pile near by and out of the way. She would save the big branches for last, the ones she would have to drag or need help with rather than carry quickly.

Solas approaches the three carefully. With his blindfold in place, he turns from the sheriff, to the Angori newcomer, to the Uordeq. This is something I must do. He thought to himself. Placing his hand on his sword threateningly, he simply watches the three.

Still moving the sticks and limbs that Akon had cut from the tree, Katri notices Solas approach. From the corner of her eye, she sees him take a threatening stance. she laughs lightly. Dropping her load of wood onto the pile she had created, Katri picks up a rock, her voice soft and sing-song, "Find salvation in distress~" [10 ice].
"Here, Solas. You seem a bit over heated this morning. This should help cool you off." Katri tosses the now frozen rock over to the angry looking man.

Solas takes a step backward, clutching his chest in slight pain. He coughs slightly. His other hand moves from his sword to the strap fastening it to his belt. He smiles lightly as he undoes the strap. Solas carefully props his sword up against a nearby tree. He smiles at the Uordeq. "Sorry about that. I was miles away. I didn't mean to come off so hostile." He rubs his chest. "You folks need a hand with anything?" He asks, with a certain cheerfulness back in his voice.

"I see. Well, you could help me move some of these branches out of the way. I am not sure what else needs to be done at the moment." Katri replied, not entirely sure she believed him, but not particularly concerned either.

Akon then nudges the tree with a push getting it to sit neatly on the ground, huffing slightly. "Mmmn, Katri, can you use them magick fingers of yours and conjure up some cold water?" Akon shoots a glance over to Solas, noting his change in character. "Glad you could show up. We will need a two handed saw. I brought one right over there." She nods over to a pile of tools. "Cut off a section of the trunk there, then cut it in two. I'll help you prop it up after that."

Solas smiles and nods. He moves toward the hand saw, picking it up. He then goes to work cutting the Trunk. Solas' smile slips suddenly. "Akon." He says. "Im sorry." He goes back to work furiously cutting the trunk.

Katri nods at Akon, acknowledging her her request. She pulled a cup from her bag, "Find salvation in distress." [5 ice] [5 ice]. Two small plinks signified the dropping two smalls ball of ice into the cup. "Hope is a desert running dry,"[10 fire] Katri held the cup near enough to the fire she conjured at the end of a small twig for the ice to almost completely melt.  Dropping the stick, she stepped on it to extinguish the flame and walked the cup over to Akon, "Here you go, Lady Nivarian."

Akon takes the cup thankfully, wiping another drop of sweat from her brow, smiling and nodding to Katri. "Aye, thank you, Katri." She takes a sip and looks over to Solas, then offers a genle smile, tossing the comment away with a flap of her hand. "Eh, don't worry about it. Though I appreciate the appology. Greatly." She smiles softly. "But let's move on. It's the here and now that matters. And here..." Akon goes back over to the tools and picks out a much larger saw that has handles on both ends of it. "If you both vork on it, you shall accomplish zis task much quicker." She hands the saw off to Katri to take over to Solas. She then hefts her axe over her shoulder again, and begins gazing at the trees to pick the next to fell.

Katri blinks a bit at the sudden pronouncement of Akon's accent, but takes the saw offered and says nothing. She turns and carries the saw over toward Solas, offering him the other end. She smiles slightly, "I'm afraid my upbringing has left me little knowledge in where to start on this kind of hard labor. I will follow your lead."

Solas smiles at the two Uordeq. He sets his own saw on the ground before taking the other end of the large saw. He laughs at Katri's comment. "It's just like the old masters used to have us do." He tugs slightly on his end of the saw as if trying to start. "In order to accomplish the task we must work together." He pauses for a moment, before chuckling. "Heh, that seems like such a long time ago now." Solas catches himself quickly. "Right, well." He looks down with a snap. "When I pull, you push, and when I push, you pull." He begins to tug again on his end. "It isn't so hard."

Katri laughed, "I had assumed as much, Solas. I meant, you decide where we start and such. I'm not quite dumb enough to not assume the saw would work that way." She shook her head slightly, and fell into rhythm with the saw. "You did training similar to this then?"

Akon looks genuinely pleased at the two as they work, and then turns back to her task, eyeing up each of the trees until she finds a particularly straight one. She then flutters her eyes closed, mumbling a few dark works to herself, and her next breath seems to take in much deeper, her red eyes burning slightly as she opens them again. (Str 3). One could almost see the strength flowing through her limbs as she hefts the axe again, the first swing biting deep into the tree's flesh. Blow after blow, the Uordeq makes quick work, hacking into the tree base.

Solas pauses for a minute, then lets out a hearty laugh. "I didn't mean to imply you were stupid." He said, sawing back in forth in rhythm. He chuckles half to himself, half to the Uordeq. "Well, it wasn't all similar to this, but that's not to say the masters didn't make us saw wood from time to time."

"I can understand that only parts of your training was similar. Not all of my training was alike either. Not that I had hung around at home to complete it." Katri laughed, glancing at Akon with her last sentence. She continued sawing in time with Solas, paying only what attention was necessary to the tree.

Akon seems to be quite engaged in what she is doing before pausing as the tree begins to groan. She then makes her way over to the other side of it, and lands one solid thwack just above where she had made the wedge on the opposite side of the trunk, sending the tree down in a long groan as the crack of brances and thud is heard as it hits the forrest floor and settles. Akon closes her eyes again, and runs her hand along the bleeding trunk. She says in almost a whisper. "Thank you..for your sacrifice that we may be protected."

She then pushes the tree slightly off its stump, and lets it settle on the ground. She walks back over to the two, and lands a hard balled fist on the edge of the tree trunk, cracking the rest of what hadn't been sawed off. "If you can remove the branches from the other tree, then I shall begin vith managing this vone..."

Solas smiles thinking about his training. His smile becomes light chuckle. "I suppose I didnt technically complete my training either." He says remembering the events. He turns his focus back to sawing at the tree, in rhythm with the Uordeq.

Solas flinches slightly at the sound of the crashing tree, and is of course caught completely off guard by Akon's flying Uordeq Warlock Fist of Doom. He is taken aback, coughing awkwardly, as if out of nothing better to do. "So... start... that tree?" He points toward the newly fallen tree.

sits up from his hand made perch in the tree. "What the bloody hell is all that ruccus?" jumps down from his perch with Bow and arrow set and ready to fire a shaft thru the thoat of what ever is out there. walks closer and disarms the bow and puts the arrow back in the quiver. "What in all that is Prime is going on?" he says as he notices the Sheriff, the blind 1 and another working on cutting up a few trees. "Damn can't a guy get some rest?" he laughs a lil

Akon looks at the short log they have cut off of the trunk and nods over to the other fallen one. "Aye, lop off the branches if you will. There are a few other axes in that pile." She then starts a wedge in the log, making ready to split it.

Looking over to Keyoda. "Oi, Lad, you know how to swing an axe? See if you can help hmm? We are making to rebuild the tavern."

Katri shows no surprised at Akon's actions, but snickers a bit at Solas. "Yes, she wants us to clear the branches from that one now." Following Akon's instructions, Katri goes over and picks a slightly smaller ax from the pile and begins walking over to the other tree. She spares little more than a glance for the stranger ranting about sleep.

"Just so happens my lady i have my own. Father made this for me as a special gift. Among other "special gifts". he pulls the axe from the strap on his back and begins to make quick work of the branches."any others ya need help with?"

Solas looks to Keyoda. "Sorry for disturbing you." He says, with a smile. Solas tosses the saw into the pile and retrieves an axe. He moves toward the newly fallen log and begins hacking away at the branches.

Akon splits the log, adding two notches in the curved part of each one, laying them flat against the floor. "Aye." She waves Keyoda over. "When I lift, slide the half logs under eh?" Akon then readies and focuses, then hefts the tree up for Keyoda to slide the logs halves under to prop up the tree off the ground. She repeats it at the other end. "And do you know how to strip logs, hunter?" She says, taking a small break before going over to the tool pile to dig out an odd hoe looking tool, but with a straight blade rather than a curved hook.

"That my lady I have not done. I haven't the need. I find it more useful to keep trees looking natural for what I use them for. Kinda hard to blend into the woods when they look like a living quarters and the like."

Katri sets up on the opposite side of the tree as Solas and sets to hacking off it's branches. She made a mental note to never again gripe about the training she had as a child. The monotonous work quickly set her arms and back to aching. Once to the bottom of the branches on her side, she took a moment to drink a bit of the water she had conjured up earlier.

"Yep, whelp, time you learned then. If you will?" She then shows him how to strip the bark off the trees to the smooth layer below. "Not too deep, but if you leave the bark on, it will make the wood rot. Do it just like this see?" She demonstrates again, then offers the hoe off to Keyoda.

Morzoth wakes next to a smoldering pile of ash under whats left of the boar he killed the day befor. Standing he takes a peice of the meat and enjoys what breakfast is left. He starts to run through the woods dodging trees and vualting over boulders as he does every day for training. As he is making his rounds through the woods he comes acroos a group of towns people two of wich he has yet to meet. "Aye sheriff do you be needing my help"

Akon nods. "Aye, we need all the help we can get. Grab a hoe and start strippin if you will! Just like this. " She goes and finds another hoe and demonstrates how to strip the log of its skin.

Morzoth takes the hoe and tries his best at imatating the sheriff instructions." im guessing this be for the smouldering ruines in the middle of town."

"Lady Nivarian, shall we begin to cut this tree as well?" Katri asked once the branches were cleared. She held out the cup of still-cool water to the warlock to pass around to the others.

Akon nods. "Aye, for the posts that were destroyed." She then goes over to her own flask, and sits against a tree, relaxing a bit, proping one knee up casually. She then puts down her own flask, taking the cup from Katri and smiling at her forsight. She nods. "Aye, just like the other one. Just saw a bit off the end there."

The young Uordeq nodded and picked up the two-man saw from earlier and carried it back over to the tree that she and Solas had been working on. She offered him the other end, "Just like the other one she said, a bit off the end. You'll probably be the better judge of where."

Solas soon finished his own side. He sighed, wiping the sweat from  his brow and resting for just a moment before moving to assist the Uordeq with the two man saw. He gave the new Angori a passing nod before getting to work on the tree.

Morzoth looks at the man somewhat puzzeled." Good day forgive me if im being rude but how is it you can see me. im not sure i have met your kind i was raised around mainly humans."

Solas looks up at the Angori, stoping his work suddenly. A confused look plasters the Empyreans face. "You know, I've never really thought about it." He says, thinking about the question. He goes back to work. "Magic I guess." It takes a few moments for him to get back into rhythm. "The name's Solas, by the way. Solas the Farseer. Or just Solas... or just Farseer."

Morzoth chuckles a bit at the reaction to his question, while finishing the log he is doing. He moves on to the next. "The names Morzoth it is a pleasure to meet you."

Azrael strides up to the group bearign more hoes, axes, and saws for the work ahead, as well as lengths of rope for hauling the timbers to the remains of the taven. Strapped to his belt are a dozen flasks of water. "Here are the rest of the tools you requested mistress Nivarian. And I see you have found new recruits for the day's work in my absence, it is a good thing I thought to bring so much water." He chuckles to himself and picks an axe from the pile, inspecting the edge before hefting it to his shoulder. "Where would you like me to begin Mistress?"

Akon looks up from relaxing under the tree. "Well, we will likely need a few more posts. I think two more trees will do. And we can gauge the rest from there."

Azrael nods to Akon and steps up to a nice, sturdy tree. He sets his axe down long enough to remove his tunic before begining to chop away at the tree, steadily removing wedge after wedge of wood as he works to fell his first tree of the day.

artimis walks up from a shaded tree and loloks around then nods to katri and akon lwhere do you need me?l

Akon smirks and chuckles, getting back up. "Start gathering the branches, and separating out the longest and thickest of them. We will use them for the base to thatch the roof. Once we have the trees free of their bark, we will need to carry them to the tavern together."

artimis nods her head and begins her task watching everyone carefully still hesitant around them not sure what to think of most of them.

Akon freezes and looks to the sky and all around the group as the echos of screams and horrors of the very earth groaning sound all around them. "Immortals..." She whispers, muscles tensing. Then the crack and crash is heard from the center of town. She looks around to the others for a moment, before grabbing up her axe and darting towards the center of town without another moment's hesitation.

Katri froze for a moment, unsure of what was going on. She saw Akon dart off and a moment later, her cloak was slung around her shoulders and her quiver and bag around her waist with her bow in hand. She did not utter more than a gasp before taking off after the older Uordeq.
