[For the sake of simplicity, I am just going to post everything in The Healer's Den, even though I will be involving The Town Post in my post.]
Chataya walks up to the town post and there places a notice that reads:
Help needed to rebuild the Healer's Den. We have lost all our tomes on healing and herbs, and all of the herbs and medicine that I have been gathering and organizing, as well as all of the beds and linens. We need to start from the ground up and rebuild the entire building. I need everyone who can to come and help.
You can find me at the burned-down Healer's Den.
-Chataya
She walks away quickly and finds her way to the Healer's Den grounds, and leans her weapons against the small tent she has pitched there. Walking to the rubble, she starts sorting through the mess, placing trash in one pile, salvagable items in another, and building materials in another.
Akon grumbled back at the bear. "I can't damn well understand you, Ohren.....don't be daft." Her words were harsh and short towards the druid as she walked up to the burned down healer's den, eyeing the sight. Her eyes wandered up the few bits of it that still stood errect, and the sights of the blast marks.
Akon nods solumnly to the Ixifar, all emotion yet again tucked away under the dark rings of her eyes. She merely nodded at the woman and made a subtle "Mn..." Dropping her armor to the side and keeping her dagger at her belt, Akon knelt among the other two and started rummaging through the burn remains, trying to gather any remenants from the bombs, or any other unusual bits of the rubble.
"Tryin' to cover up fer yer associates hoot?" Taklinn asks as he walks up to the scene. "Bunch of folk wantin' to be messin' with undead sounds like yer kind of scum." he grumbles as he views the damage to the Healers Den, looking disdainfully at the burned pieces of wood and timber.
"If I recall....you ran. I didn't." Akon said, in a quite undertone which burned something fierce. Something seemed to be bothering the woman, and her dispossition had turned quite sour. "I'm just glad I am not finding the remains of the comrades you left behind burried under this rubble...and instead only that of charred walls and wood." She kept sifting through the rubble, eyes never lifting from the ash as her hands were covered in the soot.
Akon's eyes flare up silently, her red hues turning a stinging red like hot embers as she bows her head and rubs her brow. Closing her eyes for a moment and pausing her work, a slight furrow of her brows creases as she rubs at them. She takes in a deep breath to herself, and lets it loose slowly, though her shoulders remain stiff, as her burning eyes only subside slightly with the nursing of her brow with her finger tips. She sets her jaw clamped shut as she rises and tosses some of the rubble aside, still searching for remains of any of the bombs or items the assailants had used while cleaning the ash and chared remains away.
Victor walks up to the group with hammer in hand and a small cart load of supplies he is pulling behind him.
"You have my help lady Chataya. I have brought a few supplies with me from the wizards tower. There is some lumber, nails, and a few left over stones. I am no carpenter, but I know a little about building ."
Chuckling lightly at Akon's words, the dwarf meets her glare with one of his own. "Why with the mighty Akon Nivarian here, I thought the day was won. The town has no need fer us stupid dwarves as ye like to say it. And I didnt leave alone lass, we took but a few of us to cut off the head of the Bloodrinkers cult. Ye still had mighty people here to watch out fer town. Or are ye implying that ye couldn't handle the situation on yer own?" he muses, eyes still burning, but face smirking slightly.
"And don't ye be thinkin' to hide the truth. Yer more wantin' to see if there are any playthings under the rubble fer ye to stick yer hands in and reanimate, burnin' their bodies to a crisp and spoutin' off questions that ye want answered." he says stone serious.
"No I don't believe I will be chastised by you of all people fer makin' rash decisions without thinking of the consequences." He nods to Victor, and tips his head in a slight bow to Chataya before walking away chuckling to himself.
The horned bear that had been following Akon slowly shifts and turns into Ohren. "Raawrggr raw rrggr grr." He shakes his head for a moment and stops. Then he starts again. "What I meaned wus dat I seened peoples working and peoples leavin as I was bleedins on de ground. De important tings is to member dat the bitey peoples is de ones who dided it. " He rolls his shoulders and starts to get to work on the debris of the healer's den. Ohren begins singing a deep haunting song from angor with references to eating the hearts of your enemies as well as drinking their blood in celebration.
Damian rolls up looking the least bit interested in doing a honest days work. Damian here reporting for clean up detail. Ive been ordered by my boss Kulzu Sanguinus to help clean up this mess. Being im a squire and all.
He starts picking up burned out timbers and tossing them into a trash pile. I swear the boss is gonna get somehting foul in his drink. Something right foul indeed......
Upon Haven's arrival, Glimmer emerges from the woodline. She somberly surveys the rubble and looks at Akon. "Keep yer tounge in yer cheek while on these grounds, Akon Nivarian. The last time I saw your hands on a body, it fell apart. You are a disgrace to this ground. I don't care who you've healed with a bandage and a silver tongue, you'll never belong within this Den. Glib is...was..." Glimmer sheds a tear, looks to see Taklinn disappear over the top of the road line, and turns to Chataya.
"And you, Lady Chataya of the Ixifar. It does not matter who went where during that battle. Taklinn had his reasons, as did the citizens who went with him. More was lost here that night than this den. Do not chastize the brave for their actions, as they do not chastize you for yours. They all thank you for the work you do. Have you even spoken to Haven? This was her home long before you came here, and it's her home now that's she's returned to us. I thank you for keeping ill words and fighting at bay. I will do what I can to assist you. I've helped rebuild more than one thing in this town. The important thing is everyone is alright. Stones are stones and wood is wood. We can't start anew. But I suggest you talk with Haven. She's been through more than most understand, and you two should be uniting in this. Learn from her ways. Reach out to her and hear her. She will guide you and teach you beyond measure. I ask this for the town as a whole."
Glimmer walks to Haven then and pulls a pouch of cookies. She whispers quietly 'It's not much Habens, but cookies makes me feel betters when my tummy bear is hungries and sad." She sifts through the rubble beside Haven, keeping a watchful eye on the woodlines.
Taklinn returns some time later, bearing a large timber on each shoulder. "We use these to help shore up the mines shafts to keep em from fallin' in on our heads. Course there ain't really a need for them until the mines get cleared. They should make fine rafters." Taklinn sets them down roughly and then goes about looking at the site carefully; stopping every few feet to inspect the stone under parts of the rubble. "Bah! The foundation is still in good shape I would say, though there probably ain't much other'n that can be salvaged. Thats the risk of building things out of wood rather'n stone I'd say. Though I admit, construction is much faster above ground than below." he says with a laugh. "Course what do I know, the last thing I had a hand in building was destroyed in its first battle. I'll head out and get ye some more timbers, and see what else I may find. Perhaps some stone can be found that could be used fer a fireplace, hearth, and chimney." he says as he walks back out into the woods to gather more building supplies.
Ohren's ears perk up at Glimmer's mention of "bear" and "cookies". He looks back at her with a large grin on his face expecting to see her with a bag full of cookies for him. As he sees her handing them to Glimmer his face droops into a sad frown. "Cookies?" he askes curiously.
Taklinn waits a bit for Victor to catch up and says, "Aye lad. I've quite a few materials I have been gatherin' fer me own dwelling. Never got around to constructing it though, and dont plan on using them at any rate. We can take much of what I have gathered and use it to rebuild the Healer's Den." he explains as they walk off to his secret stash of building materials not far into the woods.
Galdor approaches the destroyed Healer's Den to see many of Jastery's residents already at work rebuilding the wreckage. He notices the Uordeq warlock sifting through what seems to be a heavy pile of timbers. "Here, let me help you with that," the elf says as he continues towards Akon. He notices a glint of anger in her eyes, but thinks nothing of it. She is an Urodeq after all.
Akon looks to Talkin as he passes, saying loud enough so he could hear, yet still quietly, yet her tone was sincere. "I'm sorry for what I said."
The Uordeq then turned her cursed red gaze towards the elvin man offering help, though he did not see anger in her gaze when she locked it upon him. It was something deeper, something far more unsettling, and complex than such a simple emotion. Yet her eyes were the only indication that something was amiss. Her face was set like stone, emotionless in features, which were bland in comparison to the embers in her gaze. She kept her focus on him for a moment, those eyes settle straight upon him before she nodded. "Thank you." She said simply. "If you find any remnants of what the assailants may have left behind, please inform me." She said as she went back to cleaning up the mess.
"Will do Miss. I doubt they'll be needing whatever they might have left behind." And at that, Galdor got to work moving rubble out of the way of the construction site. The while searching for whatever remains the warlock was asking for while secretly wishing none would turn up.
As Leofrick walks up to the rubble of the former healers den the smell of smoke and ash fills his nostrils. "I still can't seem to comprehend those imcompetent fools would destroy a place for weaklings to rest, but I might as well help rebuild since I'm living here until I can fix my own problems." As Leofrick began to clean up he kept noticing the little metal parts showing up more and more frequently. He began to collect them to see if anyone knew what they are from.
Shortly after the arrival of Galdor, the form of Kollista can be seen approaching the wreckage of the healer's den. Little hands reached up to clasp the brim of her hat in distress as she looked over what was left of the clearly decimated building. She muttered to herself with a glance to the familiar Ixifar woman. "What a mess, what a mess... Poor Miss Chataya..."
She spys a familiar fae not to far away and scurries over to tug at her shirt hem with wide eyes, "Mama Glimmer! What happeneded to the healer's den? It lookses kinda... gone."
Waiting for the cover of night, Wreynn spends the day in his chateau just outside of Jastrey. Catching wind of the recent attack, he feels a touch of remorse that he wasn't able to do anything for the town, yet still doesn't exactly feel welcome within the walls. One day, he figured he'd understand why Akon puts up with the hell she's given, but even he knows that she deserves it.
With great care he finishes wrapping a small package of dried meats, fresh fruits, breads and cheeses as well as an assortment of dried herbs, bandages, and tonics that he kept stored away from his old adventuring days. He didn't seem to have much of a use for them these days, perhaps he could earn some goodwill from the town with this small token.
In the darkness of the waining moon, his shadow slips through the town gates and neatly lays out the assortment of foods and medical supplies. He moves quickly, and quietly, not saying a word or making a gesture to anyone he may see on the street. No sooner than he arrived, he vanished leaving the gift behind placed neatly atop the building supplies left for the reconstruction project.
In the night, a big bear shambles by the buiding site and catches a wiff of the food in the packaging. He heads over to where the food was left and looks around cautiously, checking to see if there was anyone around to claim the goods. Sniffing at it again, he grabs the bundle in his mouth and quickly scurries off back to his hut with his new found treasures. Looks like Ohren isnt going to need to stock up on supplies in a little while.
From the woodline, Glimmer hears what sounds like an animal parading through the rubble. She watches as the bear she knows as Ohren's other half steals the package Wreynn had left earlier. A shriek of half elation and half terror emits from the sugary high fae as she flits straight out of the woods in persuit of the bear. As she rounds to his hut, she beats on the door screaming wildly "OHREN YOU SHIFT RIGHT NOW AND GIVE ME BACK THAT PACKAGE! I WILL NEVER EVER NEVER GIVE YOU NOT ONE SINGLE COOKIE NOT EVER AGAIN! BAD BEAR! BAD BAD BAD BEAR!" Glimmer continues screaming and says "If you don't give it back right now, I am going to Uncle Wreynn and telling him you've stolen posessions he meant as a gift to the den. Don't cross my Uncle Wreynn Reinholdt. YOU'VE BEEN WARNED!" Glimmer taps her foot impatiently at the hut door, looking back to the den to see if anyone in town has heard her commotion.
Glimmer stamps her feet and looks a bit wild. She swats the bear straight on the nose and rolls up some parchment from her pouch, beginning to swat all over the bear yelling "If you EAT one more thing from that package I will be so mad at you Ohren! Turn back into yourself right now you unintelligible ninnie! Who steals a gift from the Healer's Den/ Your a DOODAD YOU SILLY NAMBY PAMBY BEAR! I'm only gonna say this one more time before I get Uncle Wreynn, or any other Reinholdt I mayhaps come across. GIVE ME THAT PACKAGE!" Glimmer pops 3 candies into her mouth, chewing and smacking them wildly and hiccupping as she normally does when upset.
Glimmer looks at Ohren and says "Stop being rediculous. You want to keep it? Keep it. You should be ashamed of yourself. I'll let the other healer's know of Wreynn's good intentions, as I saw that, too. I'll also let them know where his gift is located. Never ask me for a thing again Ohren the Bear. You'll get nye a thing. Glimmer turns her back and begins walking towards Wreynn's cabin.
Glimmer turns around and says "I understand plenty Ohren. I was a druid for a long spell of time. Just because I no longer practice doesn't mean I've forgotten what shifting was like. I know you aren't aware of what you've done. It doesn't make me any less angry, however. That package was meant to stay at the den. Our Uordeq have a hard enough time in this town and if on e of them does something nice of epic proportions such as leaving a gift for healer's, then they should ALL know about it. If you'll take it back to the den, I'll personally help you forage for your winter stores." Glimmer tosses a package of cookies to Ohren and says "Train your tummy bear, you beast!"
Ohren looks at her. "WHO BRINGED DIS I DON KNOW! It was jus der! It could be poisoneded. And who leaves food out in de open like dat! It could attract... well... bears... but any ways I all wants is you saysing sorry for hitsing me for no reasons. I was just tetecting dis fur laters."
"Oh Ohren. I gave you cookies. That is an apology when you are Fae. It just didn't look honorable, and I know you meant well, but it was from my Uncle Wreynn. And I will fiercly protect those posesssions." Glimmer suddenly tackles Ohren in a large hug and plops 3 pouches of cookies at his door.
Kulzu approuches with his armor still on as ever. Ahh Master Dwarf..Taklinn always good to see you and glimmer. Bowing in respect....glancing over at Ohren....ahh I knew if there was cookies here then a Ohren wouldnt be far behind I see. haha....Ohren ever good to see you. I can see even Akon made it out as well as our new gnome in town. It looks like everyone is out helping.
Finnally spotting Damian shirking off his duties...Damian this place wont pick up itself!! Ive been in the mines all morning..In FULL PLATE mind you...it builds character...just like good honest labor helping the community. Kulzu starts digging in with gusty into the wreckage of the den. This place should be rebuilt in no time.
Delvin wandered into the fix-it-up party a bit late. His usual peppy demeanor was overshadowed by his sense of responsibility. After offering a nod to the other's he'd set about the work of removing the larger chunks of debris. He drug these debris away from the other piles, intent on possibly keeping them if they weren't needed for the rebuilding.
Delvin toiled until the sweat beaded upon his brow and stung his eyes. After a moment he'd find a few glass jars. He'd stooped to pick them up, turning them in his hand in an attempt to figure out what they were, "Ah, Apothecary supplies?" he'd ask to whoever happened to hear him, another idea of how he could help filtered into his noggin.
Akon sifted through the rubble and noticed Leofrick's gathering of small metal bits. She wandered over to him, trying to see if she could make anything out from them. "Probably just remenants of the building and their bombs....damnable creatures." Akon muttered, still seemingly unhappy about the whole situation. She then went over to Chataya and placed a gentle hand on her shoulder. "I'm glad you are alright..." She said, looking over the rest of the rubble. She then nodded to the others which were present which had been caught up in the disaster, before she made her way towards the farm land and brought back a wagon cart drawn by a small quarter horse.
She then went about her usual order of duty and started gathering the bits and remains and corpses of the Blood Drinkers, loading them into the cart. She sighed, then led the horse on out of town, choosing to dispose of the mess outside of the walls of Jastrey.
A shadowy cloud appears in the middle of the ruins of the healer's den and Rasiri appears. Rasiri goes around to see if he can help clear up a bit of the broken bits of what used to be the healer's den. "Wow... i should have tried harder... If i had this might not have happened." Rasiri mutters out loud to himself as he picks up the remains. "At least we could rebuld and it could have been worse..."
Ohren approaches the rubble with a large apparatus straped to his body, pouches all along his sides and a large shovel like attatchment on his front. He lifts his head and carries it over the ground and sets it down infront of the debrie. He looks like some form of fuzzy tractor, if there were such a thing back then. "Rar grr rurr grrrarrrh"
wondering almost aloud weather or not he should help these people still being new to jastrey he walks up to the burned healers den and chuckles slightly " well it charred nice didnt it..."
*he walked around picking up and sorting through most of the rubble that had blown outwards finding akward and random pieces he uses his skills as an alchemist to find most of the healing herbs checking again to make sure he was correct he carrys around a small case on his belt stocking it with various supplies for chataya he also searches the signs of battle noticing several tracks and trampled places but he ignores them going about his tasks*
Quietly moving around and trying not to attract notice after Glimmer went chasing after Ohren and the package left by Uncle Wreynn, Kollista watched as others gathered and sifted through the debris, on occasion even bringing supplies to replace the ones lost. She herself went through picking up bits of the wreckage, seeming to also look for anything salvageable. Occasionally, a small, dirty hand would reach up to tug the brim of her hat as she slipped in and out of the other people helping. The Gnomeling hadn't said anything else, but would give a little nod to anyone who might say something in her direction. Her ears did pick up bits of conversation here and there, however, and she began to try to piece together what happened to the den in her absence. Something about bombs and damnable creatures.... That would have sounded delightful to her if it hadn't been the nice healer lady's home.
It was getting a touch crowded, Kolli noticed when she looked about as she pondered bombs and evil creatures. She could feel the little sense at the back of her mind that told her the change was coming. Cringing unnoticeably, she shook it off and began to hum softly to herself as she worked. No no, her nasty side couldn't come to play this time. This crowd was not the right place for that side of herself. She would need to behave and prove to Mama Glimmer and Miss Chataya and the others that she wasn't a bad-news warlock... Most of the time.
Leofrick began to pack away the metal he dug up and placed the pouch back to his side. "I might be able to use these for a new dagger or sell for coin if I'm lucky." As Leofrick began to walk away from the rubble, his hand began to burn in pain. "This is the worst time for the Healers den to be gone, this is begining to become unbearable." After the pain subsided, Leofrick began to find a place to sulk, read and smoke his pipe in the shadows of the tavern.
Seeing the rebuilding of the Healer's Den was well underway, Galdor decided his skills were best used elsewhere in restoring the Den to it's former glory. "If you will excuse me, I believe I may help best by trying to restore atleast a bit of our herb stores. I'll be in the forest if you need me." And at that, Galdor took to the woods with great anticipation to be in the forests where he felt most at ease.
Taking a deep breath Jael could smell the burnt wood and rubble of the healers den as he approached. It was strong enough that it made his throat somewhat dry. The cool liquid felt good as he took a swig from his flask. Taking a minute to enjoy the flavor a familiar and welcome tingle shot down his spine. Returning his flask to his side Jael gave a relaxing sigh. He gave a nod to those who were there and began to do his share of the work.
Tregard strides up to the work crew. A quill is between his teeth and several scrolls rest in his arms. Though embarrassed by Skipslip's preformance and traumatized by the hostage ordeal; he walks with an air of confidence.
"I broghtwu sosmo txts n bluwpritn" the bard mumbles. He spits out the quill and repeats " I brought some texts and blueprint. A great building starts with a great blueprint."
[I'm so sorry guys. I suck. I'm sorry for leaving this alone for so long. I'm such a slacker. ha ha!]
Chataya worked through the day, watching and listening to her friends around her. She accepted the gifts given to her, both verbal, and physical, and continuted working. When Tregard approached, she stood and stretched, and walked over to him to observe the progress, acknowledging his arrival. She sees piles of wood that can be reused, piles of rocks that are salvagable, piles of junk that is no use to anyone, and a small amount of herbs and bandages that can still be used. Her heart sweels with pride and joy at the teamwork and care that she saw this day. For once, she felt a glimmer of hope, and this would be very obvious to anyone that looked at her.
Her eyes brimming with joyful tears, she clears her throat and turns to Tregard. "My friend, what a wonderful idea!" She turns so that everyone gathered can hear her, and speaks loudly. "We have wood, we have stone, we have hammer and nails. And now, thanks to Tregard, we have a plan. Let us use this blueprint to start rebuilding this place. We need strong people to grab beams and others to dig holes for the supporting beams to go in to. We need people to lift the rocks and place them as shown on the blueprint. We've just about got it all cleaned up. Let's start rebuilding!!!"
Wreynn can be seen coming down the road from the gates to the reconstruction site carrying a large black cauldron on his back. His pace is slow, and clearly labored by the weight of the large pot and by the time he makes it to the den sweat is pouring down his forehead and he's breathing heavily. Dropping the pot on the ground with a large "thump" Wreynn collapses to his knees and coughs.
"Here," Wreynn gasps, "I figured this might help, "It's a bit waxy inside, but I'm sure that'll boil out just fine. Hot towels, clean linens, and the like should be quite useful once we need to use this place again. I never want to spend time in here again myself, but if I have to, I damn well hope my stay is comfortable." Wreynn chuckles a little to himself and then rests his back against a tree and lets out a long yawn while resting in the shade.
By now, Blisdon's sensitive uordeq ears had been trained to pick up the ominous barks of noise from when a nail is hammered into the familiar wood of Jastrey's town post that his ears could make it out in detail from amidst the other various background noises of busy town life.
Eager to see what's new in jastrey, blisdon departed through tree's, taking various shortcuts he had learned from his time in Jastrey.
Several minutes and a string of vile swears and curses later, The flustered uordeq shaman arrived to what remained of the healers den.
His large, owlike eyes scanned and totaled up the damage inside his head before catching a glimpse of Chataya beginning the rebuilding efforts and called out to her.
"Oi, Chataya. By the creaky leaks o' shards...What happened here? I used to love coming here...Shady spot in the summer yaknow. " Mumbled the Shaman as he bent low and felt some of what remained of the warped and cracked wood around him. "You could drink whatever strange, viscous fluids you wanted till your heart was content and nibble on all the badger meat you could want and nobody would bother you..."
