A Remembrance

Lia itched at her neck plumage. She was never much good at these things. Her hands carefully spread soft dirt over a small patch to cover a rolled parchment tied with twine. Working steadily was the only way to keep her mind off what she was doing. She pulled three smooth stones from her pouch afterwards and placed them at the top of the small patch. Lia finished with a fresh pulled feather from her hair to place in the center of the stones.

Standing before her work, her face grew solemn. "May your spirit burn and be renewed." She said softly.

"Not much of a body, that." Chirped a voice much too chipper for the somber graveyard.

Spyder sat perched on a near by tree branch, kicking her little boots out in front of her. A soft creak came from the bones that were her wings as they spread behind her, allowing a large black spider to crawl from her wings to her shoulder, then up to perch on top of her head as if it were watching the unfamiliar Ixifar as well.

Lia managed to catch herself before jerking in surprise. Instead, she paused for a breath then peered around in the direction of the voice. She studied the Unseelie fae, noting the spider that took perch on her head. "True. The body is shards away...so this is all I can do to honor the deceased. For now."

The fae seemed to immediately lose interest in the grave with no flesh to be found, but her attention remained on the Ixifar. She pushed off the tree branch but instead of falling, her wings carried her over to this new person. Up close it was hard to miss that one of her green eyes appeared to be long dead and white. Both eyes fixed on Lia as Spyder inspected her with little regard for being polite. "Who are you? Do you live in Jazz-ter-ay too?"

Lia raised an eyebrow and a hint of a smirk slipped onto her lips. Spyder's lack of tact didn't seem to bother her. "I'm alive am I not? So I am living in Jastery in a matter of speaking." Her bright blue eyes locked on to the fae's unusual ones in an unweavering gaze.

The response was not one that Spyder had anticipated and the curious smile slipped from her face, replaced with an expression that reflected a much deeper thought process. "I never thought of it that way..." She said, touching a finger to her chin and staring off into the distance for a moment. When she seemed to remember that she was having a conversation the smile returned. "I'm Spyder!" She chirped.

Lia had a calm expression as she nodded to acknowledge the Unseelie's name. "I'm Lia. So, if you are Spyder, what's your friend's name?" She asked pointing at the arachnid sitting on her head.

The Fae hears noise coming not far from the grave she was sleeping behind. She grumply rolls over not moving from behind the gravestone . Recognizing  Spyder's voice she addresses her " Spydddddder, who is in the graveyard noww?" "I dont seem to recognize the voice on this one, did you summon something again?"

Spyder plucked the large arachnid from her head, checking its markings. The spider took up the majority of her palm. Tracing a finger over the orange markings on its smooth, black abdomen affectionately, she smiled. "This one is Bubbles." She answered, holding her friend out to Lia. Hearing Poppy, Spyder broke out into a fit of mischievous giggles, letting the spider crawl back up her arm. She flitted over to where she had heard the other unseelie and leaned over the tombstone, far down enough for a smaller spider to fall from her blouse and onto Poppy. "Noooo, not this time. I gotta see if I can do that again!"

Hauling a load of logs in his arms, Rastik walked casually towards his graveyard home. His eyes locked onto Lia for a moment and he took a good look at the stranger. He kept walking and noticed Poppy. He gave a silent nod to the fairy. Rastik smoothly walked to the tombstone where his wife perched. He leaned in, gave her a small kiss on the head and continued his march home.

"Bubbles, an interesting choice." The Ixifar commented, her hand slowly reaching up to stroke the creature's abdomen. However, that was not to be as another Unseelie made herself known. It seemed Lia's senses had dulled, or she was just not used to the presence of fae yet. As the other voice called out her head snapped towards its source. Lia studied Poppy quietly, letting Spyder speak with her.
Approaching footsteps caught Lia's attention, to which she passively glanced back. A keffiyeh wearing Uordeq, with a load of what looked like firewood, trudged on passed Lia without even seeming to notice her. "Tch..." She stepped back and found her hand reaching up behind her for her cage; though, she really couldn't place why. Lia glanced back down towards her make-shift memorial. "I'll miss you, master." She whispered and turned towards the path back towards town.

Poppy is startled a little by the spider landing upon her. She picks up the little guy and places him upon her shoulder. "sure you will have other chances" she said giggling to herself. She gives Rastik a soft smile as he passes by them. "Ooooh who is she then?" She said letting her arms drape over the grave as she turns to face the Ixifar. "I am Poppy, who are you?" "I don't think I have seen you around Jastery before?" She said tilting her head at the Ixifar.

Spyder's face lit up in a smile as her husband kissed her head. She watched after him as he carried on, one hand on her cheek dreamily. Her attention slowly turned back to Lia as Poppy began asking her own questions.

Lia paused, and turned back as she was addressed by the fae. "Poppy...I'm Lia. I've not been here long, by my own accounts. Though, there are others who say I used to live here. But, I guess for now it doesn't really matter..." She trailed off and looked between the two Unseelie. Her hand grasped the necklace that hung long round her neck. An old, nervous habit she had. "Well, I don't mean to intrude on your...place. My business here is done. I'll be off." She inclined her head in their direction before turning back around. Her back towards the pair gave a clear shot to the seemingly empty bird cage strapped to her back much like a backpack.

"No, need to rush take our time if you need to mourn...... your master? I believe you said" The fae now intrigued by Lia. "Not being able to remember if you been here or not? That does seem quiet a perplexing problem there" Poppy rose to her feet brushing any of the graveyard dirt from her clothes. Her attention however is caught by the cage the Ixifar appears to be carrying. "Mhmm why do you carry a cage but no bird?" She said fluttering a bit closer towards Lia to inspect it  better. "Have you lost that as well?" She asked in an innocent tone.

The Ixifar paused once more, offering a soft sigh. Her body stiffened as Poppy drew closer and inquired about the bird cage. An eerie yet sardonic sort of smile slid across Lia's face for a moment. "Yes and no. The bird is still here, but not quite whole." She explained.

Spyder had apparently decided that hiding behind a tombstone would physically hide her intrigue, because she'd taken up peering over the stone at Lia while everything below her eyes was obscured.
