I built a human rogue, selected his actions as:
Precise Strike 2
Search
But then I picked Scoundrel as his merit, which, if I'm understanding correctly, should give him Search as a bonus action at level 1.
Doesn't this mean my rogue should have three actions? Precise Strike 2, Search (as a bonus), and then something else of my choosing?
If so, how can I respend? The form doesn't allow for that.
Hey there, hopefully I'll be able to answer your question fully (also, try to adjust your character before early tomorrow morning, as character sheets will be printed then).
First of all, to respend your character, go to the "Spend Boon" selection under your Character (not sure if the option is there before your first event, but I'm pretty sure it should be). There, you will see the option to "Fully Respend for Free." This option will be present until AFTER your 4th game, at which point it will cost Boon to respend your character in any way.
As for the Scoundrel merit:
When you pick the merit, it gives the ability to choose those actions as 'bonus actions.' If you have already used all of your allocated actions, I'm not sure if you can get to the action selection page to add them, so my recommendation is the following:
1) Pick your Scoundrel merit
2) Pick all of the actions that say 'Bonus Action' - these will NOT count against your action count in any way
3) Pick your Proficiencies
4) Pick all the reamining actions you want (I would not pick Search again, since you already got it for free)
For future reference, it's recommended to know what you want to go for ahead of time. Some actions won't show up until the proper proficiencies are unlocked, some merits won't show up until the prerequisite actions are unlocked, etc... Obviously, we don't expect you to know the ins and outs of the site as you're starting - so good job reaching out for help!
