In search of a mentor...

A figure is seen in the distance. The stranger is wearing a hooded cloak, with the hood off. As the figure gets closer, he can be recongnized as Nirvianae. He walks up to the post with a piece of rolled parchment in his right hand. After glancing at the most recent postings, he unrolls the parchment and pins it to the board.

It reads, "I am looking for a knowledgeable sorcerer. I wish to further my skills. I will be in the tavern everyday for a week at midday for an hour if any be so willing to help."

Nirvianae then throws on his hood, puts his hands in his sleeves and walks back in the direction from where he came.

Wyndfere can be seen walking in the distance. He spots the young sorcerer, Nirvianae, and motions to him to come over for a talk.

It's about an hour after midday. Being that the time he alloted to wait is over, Nirvianae leaves the tavern. After stepping out into the brilliantly warm sun, he see a figure in the distance waving in his direction. Not sure if the stranger is motioning to him or not, he ignores it. Though as he continues to walk, he notices that there is no one else around him. He stops, looking at the figure. "Oh, a fellow Ixifar,"  he thinks to himself. Without any hesitation, he walks over to Wyndfere.

Wyndfere waits a moment for a group of passerbys to get out earshot before explaining, "If you need a mentor, I will be more than willing to lend you my assistance. However, you will find that it is not easy to become a strong sorcerer. Your abilities will be stretched beyond your limit to the point where you think you might feel faint at heart. But you must stay strong and keep your eyes on you reward."

He adds, "I will also go out of my way to ensure your safety while I am in Jastery if you fail to keep yourself alive."

He takes a deep breath as if taking on a heavy burden, "But I must ask you this one question: Is this what you want? To become a sorcerer that stands unmatched against blade, sheild, or magic?"

Without any hesitation, Nirvianae bows to Wyndfere. With a firm voice, he responds, "I will do what I must. Never again will I lose those that I love because I am too weak to help them." He stands back up straight, looking right into Wydnfere's eyes, the fire of this Ixifar's resolve burning in his eyes.

"Regardless of what you ask of me," he continues, "I will do it if it will make me stronger. I promise you that I will not fail you."

"Then I must ask you, what do you want to learn first, student?"

Nirvianae points to the post.

"First, I would like to learn about the assault and murder charges against you." he says. "I need to trust you just as much, or more, as you need to trust me."

"The path I walk is one of protection," he continues. "I only want to protect what is dear to me. But harming others with no ill intent against myself does not fit into my morals." He pauses for a second to gather his words. "I will listen to your reasoning, as there is a reason for everything. If your reasons do not fit my morals, then I will have to find another teacher, or even just teach myself."

"Morals are a simple matter, young friend," as Wyndfere places a hand on Nirvianae's shoulder. Then he drops his head and continues, "But it has been weeks, but it feels like it's been months since I've seen my dearest, Aisley. It makes me so upset that I'm not closer to her. I don't mean to hurt anyone, but my frustration and anger turns into rage quite easily.

"Protection is one thing, but when there is nothing you can do - you grow in an unkindly way. I spent many years learning to become a sorcerer, rival Balthero, and get my one love back. And after all that work, after years of solitude and endless daydreams and nightmares of what might be happening to Aisley, I got her but somehow something snatched her right before my very eyes again."

Wyndfere turns to hide what seem to be tears. He breathes heavy, but quickly contains himself, clenching a fist. "And it makes me feel a burning hot feeling inside, but then suddenly icy... And it expands and contracts my bones, over and over again... No one - not you or the mighty angori or wise empyreans or even me - can withstand such torture."

Wyndfere turns about to face Nirvianae, "But I promise you, that I will do my best to show you the true path and steer you away from where I went wrong...

"Just pound my fist and my knowledge and power will someday be yours."

Wyndfere puts his fist up for Nirvanae to pound.

Nirvianae stands there a minute, thinking on what Wyndfere has just said. After a while, he speaks.

"I can understand why you acted the way you did, but that doesn't change the fact that what you did was wrong."
He pauses slightly, then continues, "I have no problem becoming your student. As student and mentor comes a certain degree of standing up for each other and fighting together, but just know that I will not stand by you and defend you in any way for things that deal with your past unjust transgressions, including but not limited to your trial. Anything else, I will help with the best of my ability."

And with that, Nirvianae puts his fist up and pounds Wyndfere's, finalizing their bond of student and mentor.
