Setting the stage

With night well settled over Jastrey, Thorne waited, mask half-hidden beneath her hood and wings pressed close to her back beneath a cloak. The vampire had nestled herself against a tree facing Jastrey and drawn the shadows tight around her like a warm blanket. [Blend]

Nearly exactly on time, she saw the bobbing form of a messenger making his way down the road, mindful of wild animals but otherwise seeming quite unfettered. Just as the man passed she allowed the shadows to melt away and turned to approach his back. Hunched ever-so-slightly to further shield the glint of metal she called out in Irish lilt, smooth as warmed honey.

"Please sir...if ye'll give pause f'r just a mom'nt. I saw y' came from the dir'ction of town. I can't find m' way in the dark."

The soldier turned to face, and from his expression the vampire couldn't quite tell if he'd bought the line or if he planned to berate her. But neither mattered as she lifted her head upward and caught his eyes inside her own. Like a snake moving toward a mouse, she ceased to blink, reaching out with the blood magicks in her veins to draw his focus into the depth of pure black eyes. [Charm]

Vampiric will swept through the brief connection, smothering human instinct beneath it and gentle voice turned into a delighted sing-song hiss.

"Please dear friend...come with me...protect me from the shadows. I must get home or things will go horribly horribly terribly wrong."

Leading the soldier from the road, like some story of a piper gone wrong, she made well sure to lure him as far as she could before the enthrallment wore thin. When she felt the first inkling of slippage in the spell, the vampire moved from his side and her half-step forward to fall a bit behind him. And just as planned, when the man started to shake her hold a pale hand snapped out from beneath the cloak and cracked off of the back of his skull. [Strength 2]

As the man swooned, the vampire swept in, one arm moving beneath his shoulders and its mate beneath his knees, cradling the soldier like a prize as she began a quick forest-covered trek to the tower.

[The conclusion is in a blog post here: http://www.ornlarp.com/blog/birth-and-death It does involve (dependant on opinion) mild to moderate violence but has been carebeared down for those who wish to read. Ye be warned.]
