A cool breeze blew through the air as Pelle approached the Shady Corner, his cane clicking against the gravel. The town had been quiet lately, a rare occurance since the Riven's adoption of the town a little over a year ago. He let out a sigh. The only thing worse than a town under siege is a town under silence.
"Barmaid, A bottle of your finest Rican Red," he called with a flourish of his hand. "And do be quick about it. I haven't had a good drink in ages."
He took his seat as close to the middle of the establishment as the tables would allow. Pulling out his mirror, he began the constant prooning and preening that he was apt to do. Afterall, it takes dedication to achieve beauty. The bar maid walked by and hastely set the bottle on the table, partned with a wine glass. She left just as quickly, not without leaving a dirty look first. It didn't bother the riven though. He just poured himself a nice glass and waited to see what may come about.
The riven offered Althena a sly grin. "All the greats have their critics. It's what verifies their greatness." He watched from the corner of his eye as she walked to her table. He finished off the wine in his glass and began to pour himself another. He didn't have anything else to do for the rest of the day, he figured it was time for him to relax.
A new comer pushed the door of the tavern open, making his way inside. He was wearing a dark blue cloak, carried a staff of a light wood. He eyed the two patrons who were already in the tavern, but deciding that this was probably a safe place, took a seat at one of the tables in the very back. He took out a leather-bound book from beneath the cloak, setting it on the table. He took out a well of ink and quill, flipped to the next page in the book, and began to scribble.
Silence engulfed the tavern, the only sounds were the scratching of the quill and the occassional ding of the tip hitting the glas sink well.
Althena stepped into the tavern, pausing briefly to enjoy the cool interior, glancing back to watch as the doors swung shut. A frown creased her brow as a familiar voice called out. Shaking her head, she stepped forward, walking toward her favorite table, quickly sidestepping as the barmaid made a quick retreat from the Riven. A slight smirk crossed her features as she stepped passed Pelle's table. "I see you are charming the locals as your usual," she commented as the barmaid paused, a questioning look on her face. Smiling gently at the girl, the healer nodded, continuing her trek to the far table.
