A large black cauldron can be seen sitting near the site of the healers den reconstrucion project atop a pile of slowly burning everwood branches. Inside appears to be a solution of mostly murky water with an oily scum starting to appear across the top as it heats. Periodically a small bubble will form and rise out over the mixture rising a few inches into the air and popping harmlessly.
"Thanks for the vote of confidence," Wreynn scoffs, still kicked back and laying next to the tree in the shade. "I try to do something nice for town, like bringing this large pot that I found off in the woods, and everyone says not to touch it. Eh, I suppose it's probably better that way. A watched pot never boils they say, and it's going to take some heat to get the gunk out of that pot before its usable anyway."
Tregard moves to the side as Haven brushes past him. The gnome squints at the indolent Wreynn and trys to remember what Glimmer said about him. He shrugs and circles around the cauldron. He pulls out a quill and paper and begins to dicate.
"Bard's Log. Orn Date: Third's Second of Gephirel, 5,727 NB. An unknown liquid has been spotted boiling near the Healer's Den. It's appearance has caused the unflappable Haven to flee and the urodeq Wreynn to well... act like a urodeq rogue. The liquid has no discernible smell and looks like goblin bath water. Its viscosity---"
Tregard stops dictating and shoves a stick into the pot.
"Thanks Treygard, I've been meaning to do that," Wreynn says indifferently while watching the gnome plunge a stick into the soupy mixture. "While you're at it, would you mind tossing another couple of logs on the fire beneath it. I've set some everwood to burn, so it will last a long time, but it rarely ever gets hot enough to do the trick."
Wryenn yawns and raises his arms over his head stretching before pulling a small brass watch out of his pocket. "Should be about time.... maybe a little while longer," he says, trailing off while muttering to himself.
"Not particularly," Wreynn replied, "but it looked looked a pretty solid pot to me. The kind you need to boil lots of hot water for cleaing towels, linens, and the like." He thumbs his chin for a moment before continuing, "Though, now that you mention it, a few years ago I heard rumor of Corvax and Garith going out into the woods with a sack of stuff and... nah, there's not a chance in the pit that that could be their pot......."
Tregard jots down "Visocity=thick, Dissolves wood in seconds." He glances at Wreynn and nods his head. " It is a solid pot, considering what its holding. Hmmm.. I wonder if..." The gnome searches and finds a good sized stone buried in the ground. He takes off his robe and rolls up his sleeves. As he squats over the stone, he asks "Who's Corvax and Garith?"
As soon as Treygard bends over to pick up the rock, the contents of the cauldron begin to reach a rolling boil. A syrupy mixture of ooze, sludge, and wax begins seeping off the top of the pot and popping as it hits the fire below. A small trickle of light begins to form at the surface of the mixture, and then expands rapidly, shooting upwards as a pillar of solid white light in the size of the large cauldron.
"Corvax and Garrith? Well, you could say the old grove keeper, and I suppose now his replacement. They're two of the guys from the brotherhood." Wreynn spits at the name before continuing. "Haven't seen much of Corvax in a while, but you've probably seen Garrith around, used to call himself High Lord Mayor for a time before an unfortunate incident with a Dr. Weisclouud."
Wreynn visably jumps when the cauldron begins to emit the beam of light and then quickly regains his composure, with the exception of a hint of a smile creeping up at the corners of his mouth. "Well, if we're lucky, you might just get to meet him yourself."
Richter approaches the cauldron, watches the boiling and then looks around. Seeing no one else claiming this concoction, he shrugs and walks away.
