I've added a new line of merits whose sole purpose is to grant story actions. Each merit allows you to learn three specific story actions as bonus actions. They are similar to versatility in that they grant additional actions, but instead of granting any three actions you could learn normally, they allow you to learn three pre-selected story actions that you otherwise might not be able to learn.
I'm sure they're not for everyone, but I've heard a few character concepts floating around that would work well with them, specifically concepts that involve dipping into another class just for story abilities. A few of them have a minimum level requirement because of the level of the story actions they grant, but otherwise, they have no prerequisites. The story merits I've created are summarized below:
- Augur - Allows you to learn Augury, Psychometry, and Dream Walk as bonus actions.
- Constable - Allows you to learn Grave Insight, Hunter's Sense, and Inquisition as bonus actions.
- Dabbler - Allows you to learn Arcane Insight, Evocation, and Disjunct as bonus actions.
- Medium - Allows you to learn Spirit's Call,
