The Captian stood hunched over the wreckage that was his ship. He felt betrayed. He knew that between having to repair the wreckage and waiting for the locals to heal his bard's affliction that he would not make it back to town for at least two months. He felt that this was because the town that was willing to share in the trip and share in the glory of battle was not willing to share in the burden of repairs. His rage was building at this abandonment, he only hoped that his crew would soon show up to take some of the work off his hands. This was an offense he felt should not go unpunished... though the empyrean was wise enough to know that his anger was clouding his judgement... he thought that perhaps the best move would be to find another home... to never return to Jastery. He knew this would take a great deal of thought. But perhaps a place were he could be respected, appreciated, or perhaps even worshiped as a king... But the allure, perhaps illusion, of companionship and family he once found in Jastery seemed to be diminishing. He took a swig from the 92 proof he held in his hand and then looked down at the bottle, feeling disgusted by his own vice he smashed the bottle against the remains of the ship and prepared to embrace the power and clarity that he knew the alchohol inhibited. The captain then allowed his scar to open up on his hand and purged his blood of the poison he had imbibed for years. The change was immediate as he stood up strait he felt he had a better understanding of his crafts. Murphy Belle then sat down legs crossed and let the waves of red wash over his soul as his rage and hatred of bloodbrand, of those in town that wished him dead like the one called Kirell, and above all esle of this most recent betrayal. It fueled him. The Captain then thought of his abititions: For Bloodtide, for power, and above all else respect. And with that focus the wreckage of the ship began to knit itself back together as they were encompassed by the same waves of red that permeated the Captain, the work was slow with just one mage behind it and all the rewiring would have to be done by hand, but by doing show it would also ensure that noone other then crew would be trained in its operation.
The Blood Mage's voice seemed unnatural when he spoke as not only did it boom from his frame and resonate with the power emanating from his very core but it was the first time anyone had heard his voice without any kind inebriation since he was just a boy. "Lylonna, your help would be appreciated, and i agree to your terms but you should know." The Captain paused for a moment before continuing. "There may not be many scraps left, I intend on using everything on this island i can get my hands on to make sure such an embarrassment as her last flight will never happen." Once again the Captain paused this time as if considering his next words carefully. "She once sailed under the moniker of The Stratus and then under my command she took the name of The Crooked Beak." Captain Belle's voice echoed with a hint of sorrow. "But The Crooked Beak is dead, and with it the era of my own drunkenness and remorse." Once again there was a pause. "Today we begin building BloodCloud." He said proudly. "For the greatest treasure of the seas and skies is indeed that Crimson life force from which all living beings draw their power, whether they realize it or not." The Captain seemed to turn towards Lylonna without really moving at all and it was revealed then that though his eyes where open no iris could be seen there were as two blood red circles glowing with rage and emotion. "But anwser me one question Lylonna, This alliance you propose, shall you be joining the crew as the ship's official engineer to fight by our side? Or will this be just for the duration of the repairs?" The Captain smiled but there was something sickly and twisted about it. "My crew is and always will be well treated and well paid, as well as having the protection of our numbers. And as our experience grows so shall our power." The Captain Extended his left hand slowly and the closer it got to the Gnome the further the scar on the hand opened, as if promising the power that blood can offer to those who know how to use it.
FuChu sighed heavily as he carried his supplies upon his back. He felt a disturbance in the air and immediately hid slowly tracing where it was originating from. He slowly made his way to the wrekage and caught sight of his very good Gnome'y friend, and a man he had seen before known as the Captain. He seemed very diffrent and the strange feeling Fu was feeling he could tell originated from the Captain. He furrowed his brows in concentrated thought. He stood and walked boldly towards the wreckage. He looked at the air ship up and down, he felt his memories move before his eyes. The battle in the air, he noded as he touched the once whole hull. "Taichou!" Fu called turning to face him. "you look like you need aid." Fu grunted some looking over the damage "if possible, upgrading should not be done just yet. Basic repair so your ship fly's. We take back to you're port then with proper tools, proper help, proper materials, upgrade. I will honor your kindness with kindness my own, direct me Taichou we shall make her fly once more" Fu bowed to Lylonna.
The Captain kept his hand outstretched towards the gnome but turned his head to the new visitor. Revealing his reddened eyes. "Your help would be appreciated. Though I am not certain about my return to Jastery. It seems most of the town has abandoned me here. Once she flys again I am willing to drop the two of you off but beyond repairs...she must be rebuilt here and now...better than before...Bloodcloud must be unstoppable"
As Leofrick pulled himself out of the wreckage, He turned and Yelled to the Captain. "Captain, we might be able to salvage some of the interior mechanisms from this, but everything else inside pother than the beds are shot im afraid. " Leofrick called back inside the ship and started looking for parts of the hull that he could salvage to make grapeshots. "This is starting to get ridiculous with the captian, he keeps getting drunk everytime the town needs him to take them somewhere, people will start to not trust him anymore. But I must make the best of it and try to help him."
Lyonna was taken aback by the change in the captain's voice, and a bit frightened by his red eyes. As he extended his hand toward the gnome, she took a few steps back and stared at him for a few moments. When FuChu approached and broke the tension she moved closer to her dwarven friend, ready to duck for cover if needed.
"Now I've seen scary Uordeqs with red eyes and harsh voices, but that's to be expected. But you, Captain, there's something quite unnerving about you now... And please do not take my offer to help for more than what it is. I offered to lend my services, not join the crew. I offer to help because it suits my own personal interests in procuring your scraps."
The Captain calmed himself a little, his eyes no longer being 'Blacked' out by the red but merely sporting a heavy tint. "Forgive me, I have done away with alchohol and i find it easier to find my focus." The empyrean retracted his hand and thusly his scar closed. He turned away from his guests and sat back down to continue his blueprints and crafting. "Regardless your terms are excepted and your help would be much appreciated."
he had been sitting a fair distance away standing near a tree his arms crossed and his brow furrowed in cencentraition, he trys to judge this new change in the captain, the eyes, the focus a slight unerving monet but he shakes his head and lets it pass knowing that he too has a rage built in him that he cannot possibly let out, he takes a measure of his respect for the captain and smiles inwardly, he chuckles at the encounters thus far and takes his time emerging from the woods he quickly surveys the ship careful to dodge the occasional magicaly charge debri flying through the air he sits beside the captain with a brotherly hand on the should but just a light touch not to rbeak concentration. what is it that needs to be done capin ?
*he chuckles and stands his eyes light a sadistic gleam, he bows briskly to the captain and wastes no time finding some new metals {uses mining ?} he quickly finds his old stash from the explosion of the healers den form way back when he provides quite a few scraps but to everyone else he just seems to have found them lying around in random places he places them near the captain with a slight bead of sweat across his brow because some of the stashes were hidden IN trees.
well i have some materials captain but of course i cannot provide for a whole ship by myself
Fu smiled and placed a gentle hand on his Gnome friend. he walked aways from the debri and draws his blade. He concentrated standing in a combat ready stance. Channeling his energy he slashed threw a tree in a single strike. At first the tree stood tall unwaviering, but Fu smiled happily to himself as he sheathed his blade. The tree buckled under its own weight and fell. Fu grabbed the base of the trunk and began to hull it over towards the captain he set it down inbetween two rocks so that the wood was suspended. "Taichou how would you like this cut? I was thinking we can use the wood to seal the holes." Fu nodded his head towards the new faces that emerged. "Taichou i understand how you feel, I am new to this town as well but look at your numbers. Your nakama, or your companions rather have grown no? If you wish to leave town so be it but not everyone has abandoned you." Fu grunted and stretched as he prepared himself for presicion work neccssary to shape the wood.
"Yes it will be used to fill the holes Fu, but not as simple round plugs if that's what you were thinking cut them into boards" The Empyrean said, voice resonating in the trees. The Captain could here the winds of madness whistling due to their vicinity to the edge of this shard and thought to himself that it sounded distinctivly different then the void at Jastery's edge. He thought for a moment about the town he called home and thought it best to return. FuChu was right, the crew was growing and if i am to lead them i cannot lead them off of the shard they call home. at least not permanently. Murphy Belle smiled his same crooked smiled as the ground under him rippled with force and the ship lifted a good five feet off the ground. "Get it cut quick and patch the holes in the bottom first." He said with a great deal of strain in his voice.
Fu sliced with great dexterity slashing the tree into firm boards. Fu quickly stacked the boards motioning The man next to the captain to place the boards where ever they were needed, Fu quickly left in search of more sturdy trees. Like before he sliced, the tree buckled and he carried them back to the site. Sliceing as quickly and accurately as he could he produced many fine boards of wood for the repairs. Fu continued to work dilligently allowing nothing to draw him from his focus. Fu was in awe of the captains ability to lift an entire ship. 'So this is what magic users are capable of ' Fu thought to himself as he worked. ' Most impressive' Fu sliced faster and faster until he felt he had enough planks to repair the ship. Fu brushed the sweat from his brow off and moved to begin patching the ship's bottom
Janos wondered over to the ship. He didn't really have anything to do, and as a new part of the crew he guessed that he should start acting like a member of the crew. He already saw that several people were helping out; gathering supplies, fixing parts of the ship etc.
The fey looked around for the captain and found him. Being a tad lazy he simply glided over instead of walked and landed softly for his large size. "Captain, How may I help...as long as helping doesn't involve iron." He asked with a wicked grin. He wasn't actually planning on being bad for once, yet this version of his grin was all he really had.
The Captain having taken a liking to the fey asked simply asked him to take a letter to the local mailing service requesting help from Jastery's townfolk and sternly requesting the return of any missing corsairs(OOP:haven't messed with the in game mailing system before I would guess you'd just message Heather)
"A chance to meet a local fey...." Janos smiled in a way that displayed the alien thought process the fey sometimes possessed. "Sounds interesting." He plucked the letter from the captains open hand and headed back towards town and off towards the mailing service that was said to be run by a powerful fairy that Janos would quite like to meet.
*he had been busy over the last several days collection iron and of course wood he is seen carrying the supplys to the ship again he drops all the materials with a deep exhale and spits on the ground beside them resenting their heavy weight*
i have gathered all i can i hope it may be enough captain. he pauses briefly and shouts <corsaires i have supples quickly lets lay them out for the ship!!!> *he takes a handfull of wood puts it on his shoulder and carrys half of it to the broken places of the ship*
Valez sat on a rock near by. He chuckled to himself as he watched the exchanges between them. More so he chuckled at the wreckage. He did so love the smell of despair and rage. He was chewing on some bread he had and was truly enjoying the weather. The elf was in a good mood. He watched the captain and his crew trying to rebuild. How fruitless it would eventually be he thought. How very fruitless indeed.
"To this rock?" Valez looked around then nodded. "a nice place to eat and watch fools." Valez broke off another piece of bread and stuffed it in his mouth. "as for why im in this town? Well you'll find out." Valez broke off another piece and offered it to Leofrick.
"Well Valez, I have a... how do you say, disposition in a sorts. You know Rasiri, he's my father, Katri is my aunt on my fathers side and there is a demon sharing my body with me. So that's just a basic explaination of my reason for being here, but I've just come to find out about my family."
The Captain glared at the elf and kept a mental note of his face knowing his disdain and anger though it may lead to his own demise would lead to the demise of others first. He went about his task following the blueprint he had laid out in his head and bellowing orders to those still in the vicinity to get the building done.
As night approached once again the Captain turned his head toward the stars hoping to divine the goings on in town. He had something of an idea from the conversations he had shared with his crew. [Predict?] Though he knew one thing for sure and it caused his rage to build. Someone was going to try and steal his ship.
Making the final adjustments to the ship the Captain attempted to prepare it for the trip back to Jastrey. Dawning his attire not for further work as it appeared no more needed to be done. But for appearances, for his return. Shaving his face, donning his coat, redoing the dye jobs in his clothes and embelishing his tricorne with a long Crimson feather. Removing his glasses and strapping on his Pilot Goggles. A dark smile flitted across his face and a glint of red appeared in his eyes.
"CORSAIRS!" He called out his voice having an unnatural volume and boom to it.
Leofrick was leaning against a large tree smoke rolling out of his pipe when he felt a shudder neither the cold or his thoughts had caused. "Ah, Captain has come to his senses again it seems, Very well Time to see what he needs of me." Leofrick finishes his pipe, picks up his shield and sword that were leaning up against the tree and begins towards the voice of his friend.
Having been curious about the airship from the start, and also looking to scavenge any usable parts for her own top-secret experiments, Lylonna made her way towards the wreckage. Upon seeing the captain working by himself, and no other Corsairs around, she felt obliged to help at least a little bit.
"I told you you shoulda' tested the weight capacity before loading it up with all of town! ...Well, no, I guess loading it up with all of town is one good way to test it... But attempting a test flight while drunk is not the best idea either--makes it kinda difficult to tell if the ship is swaying or if it's just you!" The small gnome giggled at the idea of tinkering-under-the-influence. "Well it seems to me that you've got quite a bit of work to do, and that it may be beneficial to have such an experienced engineer--such as myself--lend a hand." Lylonna noticed the smashed bottle and blood, and decided it best to lecture the captain on the gnomish optomism in failed experiments. "So you know now that we know this ship as it was, was barely able to transport all of town. And rather than build it how it was, we are presented with an opportunity to upgrade and improve upon the previous design. I mean--imagine if we had just one more Angori with us! We never would have gotten off the ground! And if that were the case, we'd end up having to tear the whole thing down and built it again instead of just rebuilding it! And once we get the weight capacity thing figured out, we can look into adding some ballast mechanisms to stablize all that weight..." The gnome started to trail off as she looked over the ship and her mind went back to parts for her own experiment. "But anyway, I'd be willing to lend my services on one condition--Any cogs and bolts and various scraps that you can't reuse for the ship I get to keep for my own... purposes. Sound fair?"
