Strange Figure

Submitted by Jose M. on Wed, 7/13/2011 at 2:34pm

Far down along the road of Jastrey there is a strange figure Walking towards the town, unable to be clearly seen from the distance is a weirldy shaped figure, coming closer and closer towards the citizens of Jastrey is.......                                                                   What appears to be a Goblin but the goblin has some strange gear on him, a weirdly shaped back pack what looks like, and a strange mechanized sword with what looks like tiny spikes, wearing some strange googles, and a black coat.                                                    The Goblin Walks past the people outside the tavern and makes way towards a tall shady tree, and starts to set up a make shift workshop table.

Still standing by the post, Wyndfere sees the Goblin walk to his tree and watches him like a hawk. By the time the workshop table is built, he strides over to the green creature, casting a shadow over his table, and stops.

"Have you lost your way, Greenling?"

"No im sure this is the right town Im here too meet my sister, but while here i guess i can make work to spend some time also,I can repair some items from time to time, and i can enchant most items when you need them."

"Perhaps you might be useful. But to me you're just a Greenling. Another creature that has wrecked havoc on many towns. So tell me, what makes you so different from the others?"

"well i was born the same as everyone a mother and father, with alot of sisters, and brother but my parents saw greatness in me that i could bring all the goblin tribes together in peace and harmony,                                                                                                                                                                                 so my father an alchemist as he was tried to change me and make me more civilized it worked however i do tend to have violent mood swings and end up making havic as well regular goblins tend to do,                                                                                                so with hopes of finding a solution to this I made way for a city that had a great alchemist but instead i found an master engineer and he taught me all he knew and made me his diciple,                                       he soon died from old age and I left the city, I soon then got word that one of my sisters has knowledge of an area that has the legendary sword that can bring all the tribes together and bring peace so i made way to here as fast as I could and here we are know."

As the goblin tells the story, Wyndfere listens but with little interest. When the story ends, he scoffs, then: "A Greenling?... Bringing peace? Please, I've heard of fairytales, but none as much as this. As for your sister, I haven't seen her or many goblins for that matter. But in any case, a family should stick together, so you have my blessing on your quest. Could I get your name in case I need to find you?"

My name is Ig Nishon, my good Ixifar friend, and may I ask what is yours?

"You may call me Wyndfere. And you best not cross me, I may just decide to have your skin turned to deep fried Golbin chips. But I bid you ado, I have other business to attend to. Farewell, Greenling."

Wyndfere turns about and stides toward the tavern.

"no need to be hostile good lad, well farwell then."

In sheer forgetness Ig Nishon almost forgot about the letter that a strange hooded fello gave to him on the road towards Jastrey, also that he told him to find a man known as the chicken of death or something, so he made way towards the towns post and put up the letter the man gave to him.

Rivka paused as she entered Jastrey, taking in the sights, and looking a little nervous again as she spun in a slow circle.  Spotting Ig Nishon's table, she headed in that direction, keeping a look out for her brother...

Katri watched the little female spin slowly as she entered town behind her. Casting a curious look at the table Rivka was heading for, she only gave a slight shrug and continued following the goblin. She kept her eyes open for another unfamiliar greenling that would presumably be the brother they were looking for.

After finishing posting the letter from the strange man on the road Ig Nishon goes back towards his table, and he notices  another goblin, he wounders who it could be and in a second he realized its his sister, almost as if able to fly he leaped for joy back towards his table to greet his sister, completly ignoring the stranger in black next to her.

Out of over excitment Ig Nishon trips over him self half way to his table

Rivka grinned as Ig Nishon stumbled on his way to greet her.  "Clumsy, clumsy," she snickered.  As he got back up, she gestured to her new friends.  "Nice peoples say will help find Val-Tor."

"Oooooh thats nice, Hello nice people, what is your name?"

Akon stops short just outside of the tavern door, most of her features hidden and cloakd in her multiple black layers. "What is all this then? More goblins..?" She makes her way over to the other new male goblin looking none too pleased. "What are you doing here? And what is this mess?" She says, gesturing towards the table, a bit of harshness to her tone.

"Hello rude dark person, you look the same like the person I meet on the road two days ago, and this mess is my workshop"

Akon chuckles. "Rude dark person hmm? I really should start keeping a book of all the names I have collected. So what is -your -name then? Grand mess maker? Indignant bobble collector?" She snickers. "I mean no harm. Relax. And you must excuse me, no sleep and having such a racket going on doesn't mix well. Regardless, I would highly suggest you move your little errm...workshop..elsewhere. This particular area is prone to be raided, robbed, destroyed, burned, warped, vanquished, ran into by a blind man, or shifted into another plane of existence....to name a few. And I'm sure you wouldn't like that to happen to your.....well, what ever you call them." Akon says, rubbing the back of her neck, her tired red eyes peering half open from under her hood, her harsh tone falling into one more of merely exhaustion than annoyance.

"Thanks for the information ill move inside to the back then, and also *Pulls out a bottle* ,*pulls out a capsule* "take one of these it should help you fall asleep, you look likr you've been to hell and back, by the way do you know a lad by the name......(forgot the name) uhmm   wormchair, splithair, deadbear.......

Akon holds her hand out, taking the small pill oddly, holding it between finger and thumb and eying it curiously. "Zarmchar? No..haven't seen him. Not uncommon for citizens to come and go from this town." Akons eyes roam from the pill to the table, noting the various marks of what looks like failed experiments. "And you didn't mention your name. I am Akon Nivarian, town Sheriff. And I'm afraid I'm going to have to forbid you from putting all this in our tavern. However, you are welcome to take up residence in one of the town lodges or cabins just down the hill there." She points far away from the tavern. "I don't believe anyone is using that particular residence at the -very- end there, and you would be far less likely to have your...work...disturbed.."

She then wraps her hand around the pill and folds her arms over her chest, letting her hood fall across her eyes again, lips seen only as she speaks. "As for your residence here. It is simple, you seem rather the intelligent sort for your kind, so I'll be brief. Don't cause trouble, don't destroy things that aren't yours, don't take anything without asking its owner for it, and don't give me reason to keep an eye on you, and no harm shall come to you. In fact, should you require protection from any of the more judgmental types among our citizens, you have right just as any other here to seek me out for protection. Welcome to Jastrey..." She says blandly, a slight sigh to her tone.

Zanna snickers at the reactions of the little Greenlings and Akons reaction to Ig's workshop mess. She then shoots Akon a slight glare as if to say "Be nice."
Zanna then bends down towards Ig and says with a smile. "I'm Zanna Martindale, seems you are an engineer of some sort?"

Ahh yes that was the mans name Zarmcher, he said that hes going to hell blah blah blah, and to put that letter i put over there on the town post, and thank you ill move down to the cabin, and forgive me my name is Ig Nishon, thanks for the help then sheriff, and the man i was speaking about said if I see you too give you this letter personally, you do appear to have the accounted name on the letter, and your the only creepy red eyed shadow-folk living here so here.

Doran rushes around the tavern to see what all the commotion was about.  Clearly with as much going on in a backwater adventurers outpost such as this, someone might be in need of protecting.  Rushing into the town square with shield raised high and sword at the ready, his heavy footsteps silence as the rattling of his armor comes to and end as he sees the town sherif has already presented herself before the assembled masses.

He lets out an exasperated sigh, hoping to see a little bit of action before he returned to the training yards where he had been setting up a proper gauntlet to instill discipline on the untested paladin recruit, and to see what sort of task he was setting himself up against.  "Well, hello again succubus."  Doran says gruffly to Akon.  "Seems you have everything in order here, nothing needing protecting I suppose?  No dastardly deeds? No fiends out of line?  No vile undead to be laid back to rest?"  Doran sniffs the air and begins to absent mindedly stroke his beard.  "I be smellling the rot of the undead.  Its close, isn't it?  Point me in the right direction so that I may smite it, and then lay it gracefully back to rest - though perhaps in a few more pieces than I found it."

The dwarf raises his shield again, taking a defenisve posture, his tassets clank as he paces around the group trying to track down the smell of rotting flesh.  Taking mental count of those involved a dumbstruck look crosses over the dwarf's face.  "Umm, succubus?  Am I in the pit? or are we letting goblins run a muck around town now too?"

Katri suppressed a snicker at the conversation between the goblin called Ig and Akon. Her eyes give a slight roll as she watches the glare pass from Zanna to the sheriff, thinking to herself, 'Oh yes, that will be effective. She laughs aloud at the dwarf's greeting before making her own, "Hello again, Lady Nivarian. And you, I vould assume, are Rivka's brother? I am Katri Cassitran."

why yes, Zanna I am a engineer,  I was trained under the arm of Trentan Weiscloud in the city of Thera. Sadly he died and soon after I heard word of my sister having insight on the mighty sword val-tor so I came here to Jastrey to where she said the people where nice and could help us.

hello,  Katri Cassitran, I am Ig Nishon student of Trentan Weiscloud.

"whats this a little person?, how nice this town sure has alot of surprises."

Katri adjusts her mask and looks around at everyone before turning back to Ig and Rivka, "So about this sword? Can you possibly give us any more ideas about what we're doing than Rivka, Ig?"

"alas all I can say is that it can bring peace amoung us."

"So, just to clarify, ve are looking for a lost sword that only you two seem to know about and that vas lost gods know how long ago. Not mentioning that ve don't know vhere to start looking?" Katri raised a skeptical eyebrow. These goblins would be interesting indeed,

"That is why my sister here, is a Shaman, she can speak to the spirits of the world and tell us how to find it."

"I vill take your vord for it." The Uordeq shrugged.

Turning to his sister he asked " so Riv, has you found where the sword is?"

Zanna eyes Katri contemptuously for a split second then goes on to glance at the new Dwarf. She listens in on the conversations around with much interest, all the while sneaking glances in Katri's direction.

As the dwarf approached, Rivka took a few steps to the left in an attempt to keep Zanna between herself and the paladin. "Rivka no break laws!" she said hurriedly as the dwarf looked between her and her brother.

Still not taking her eyes from the paladin's blade, she answered Ig without looking at him.  "Nice peoples don't know of Val-Tor or where to find it," she said with a slightly exasperated sigh.

Akon scarce but rolls her eyes at the loudly clanking paladin, letting her eyes crease closed with annoyance and brow furrowing slightly at the noise pounding against her head. Though she lets her tone remain cool and smooth as she speaks once more, all her features hidden to the world save for her lips. "Sir Doran, was it? I generally do tend to my duties as Sheriff, yes. I was elected for a reason you know...Regardless. And I am -not- a succubus. If I were, I assure you, your guess about being in the pit would probably be far more accurate......" She pauses a moment, her tone continuing in a bland near monotone. "As to your question regarding the undead, you'll find plenty over that way." She unfolds her arms to point a solitary finger towards the monastery. "Go knock yourself out. Though I would advice you refrain from running in there over zealously, for I can near guarantee you will bite off more than you can chew alone. As for the stench, well, that's me. I need to bathe really, after toting around the rotting corpse that is in the tavern." She juts a thumb over her shoulder. "You're welcome to take a look at him if you want. I have named him Bob. We were trying to figure out exactly who or what is down in the monastry making all of these undead dance, and I brought us up a fresh sample to ponder over. Now then...."

She turns her attention back to the goblins. "Let's take the logical first step shall we? What does this sword look like..." Akon rolls her shoulder slightly, then rolls her neck in a sound crack, stretching it from side to side as she returns her arms to their relaxed and folded position.

Zanna, keeping her eye on Rivka every now and again, listens to Akons tale of the undead. She then turns and listens more intently and looks in the direction of the tavern where Bob is being held. She looks down trying to hide a smile and chuckles lightly at Akons slight sense of humor.

Akon's hidden eyes look over at Zanna's chuckling through her hood. But upon seeing it was in relation to what she just said, her lips curl ever so slightly in an amused grin, offering the slightest hint that there was some chance that the warlock perhaps was indeed making a dry pass at humor.

"Guarded by the union of the sleeping dragons, parched by an endless thirst, Val-Tor awaits for the champion of the immortals."  Doran mumbles, quoting prophecy and legend.  "Old wives tales and songs from beyond the great gate.  There are artifacts of legend still lingering from the shattering, but only for those that prove great worth."

Doran glances over to Ig's table as he rifles through his things offering a quizical look at the more exotic items on the bench.  Under his breath, but loud enough for the goblin to hear Doran utters, "I wonder if he's got any fancy oils and waxes in that kit of his, the armor needs a bit of a polish again."

Akon's wry barely there smirk fades when the dwarf speaks again. "Mmmmn...." She raises a hand to rub at her chin. "A blade that by goblin legend brings peace and unity to all clans, yet it is parched by an endless thirst....seems rather ironic don't you think? It also seems like something I would prefer would be left unturned. I'd rather not see unified goblins with an unquenched sword of immortal championship. Can't say that paints a pretty picture, even in my mind..." She smirks slightly. "Wouldn't you agree?" She asks to no one in particular.

"hey little person your armor is looking quite dirty, you should get it cleaned"

Zanna narrows her eyes at Akon's reasoning. Thinking she may be right. She then looks at Rivka and Ig and turns and sits on a rock nearby, listening in on the conversation at hand, all the while deep in thought.

"But Rivka follow rules!  Rivka and Ig be good!"  the female goblin said, as if that should alleviate all the concerns about two goblins finding a legendary goblin sword.

"Legend say," she said conspiratorily, as if she was letting them in on some fantastic secret, "Val-Tor's blade is blacker than the night, engraved with a dragon breathing fire and the hilt is encrusted with gold and jewels."  Her voice sounded lustful.  "The dragon breaths fire from the sword."

Akon tilts her head up ever so slightly so that her eyes can look at the others gathered around with a look that would hint 'does anyone else but me think this is a bad idea?'But before she can go on, an arrow wizzes by her head with a fluttering note attached, making a thud in the tavern. "What the...?" Akon says as her gaze follows the wizzing sound. "Excuse me a moment...." Akon says as she unfolds her arms and makes her way back into the tavern to retrive the arrow.

Akon comes back with arrow and note in hand. "Message for you, Ig. Seems you've come to the right place at the right time." She says, sliding the note onto his table which reads:

Looking For An Engineer To Replinish My Bomb Stock And Maybe A Few Extra Items Of Interest
 ~Keyoda Dragonfire~

Well as nice as it seems to work again, Im afraid i cant do it for free products like bombs arent cheap Ill need about 7 gold.

Akon shrugs. "I would not be this Keyoda individual. I'd look for a buy with a bow about yay high." She holds her hand up to match the description of the man who wrote the note. "Talk to him, not me."

"well when I see him I will ask, but without funds and items i cant."

Doran turns around to the loud mouthed greenskin and smiles, jingling a small coinpurse at his side.  "So, I here ye be needing funds.  We'll that be something I might be able to assit ya with."

Doran walks over to Ig standing up straight and tall to measure his height against the goblin, standing lightly on his toes for good measure to make sure that he's towering just few inches over the goblin.  "And just who are you calling shorty?  Squirt?"

Amused with the dwarfs attempt to scare him, Ig Nishon replies "Im pretty sure I called you shorty, but yeah you think you can help me with funds?

"I wouldn't have said it if I couldn't do it, but I don't expect the same from a goblin."  Doran's knuckles whiten and his mouth feels dry as he begins to make an offer that he's sure to soon regret.  "I can help you with funding a small venture, but I find myself in need of a page while I'm here.  Someone to keep the armor clean and dry and help me with the straps, the buckles, the ties, and the fittings.  Putting on all this armor to dash galliantly into the face of evil certainly isn't a one man job.  Ya gotta have someone ye can trust to make sure it all works properly - and maybe someone with a bit o' oil and some wax and polish."

The dwarf pulls out a small purse and jingles it up and down a few times so Ig can hear there's plenty of coin to go around.  "What say you goblin?  Work for me, and I'll see to it that more than a few silvers come your way.  And If'n ya prove to be trusting, I might even tell you more of the legend of Tor-Val."

"well I need funds but working for someone isnt my idea as an engineer, I work for myself to make things better, and creat new things, But I can still shine and clean/fix your armor when needed just come by my shop, when you need it. But you know at a Fee of 1 gold for shining, fixing, and or cleaning, and as for learning more of Val-Tor I think great adventures will help me to learn of it plus it can give me more ideas, of things to make."

Rivka's ears perked, "Dwarfy know of Val-Tor?"

Akon's eyes shift back over to the dwarf, hidden still behind her hood though she can see him clearly. Her eyes roam over every opening, every bend, every weakness and strength, every fold in the metal as her trained eyes as a warrior past would before she spoke cooly. "Though I've not time to be any sort of squire, should you require the aid of a knowledgeable hand in getting suited, I shall offer mine should you accept it. No payment is necessary. However, I could do with some help of miner's hand, if you carry knowledge of minerals and ore?"

Zanna gets up from the rock she is perched after thinking to herself for awhile. She then walks slowly over to Akon and whispers just to where she can hear her. "I think you're right about the greenlings. We may want to keep an eye on them. We all know how tricky goblins can be." She then narrows her eyes slightly towards Katri. "I'm also curious of that Uordeq girl."

Akon dips her head down slightly to allow her ear to be readily accessable to the whispered words then she looks along the crowd before merely offering a nod, passing a glance towards Zanna as if to say we shall talk on this later.

Zanna nods to Akons look as though she understood and goes back to sit near her rock. Listening to the dwarfs rambling of shining and armory.

Rivka eyed the empyrean whispering to the uordeq, straining her oversized ears to hear what was being said, but to no avail.

She sighed and sat down on a rock next to Zanna's perch, contemplating where to begin her search.  As she pondered, something wriggled in the goblin's messy hair and a large black and red spider untangled itself, rested on top of Rivka's head for a moment.  Then it hopped to the goblin's shoulder, walked down her arm, and sat in her hand where Rivka stroked it absentmindedly.

Akon's red eyes fix again on the goblin female, but slowly take on a very oddly confused look, as if she wasn't sure what she just saw was reality or illusion. Slowly her brows crease as she watches the goblin pet the spider.

As if she felt Akon's gaze locked on her again, Rivka looked up and squirmed uncomfortably under the uordeq's stare.  "Uh...  Sheriff pet Skeezicks?" she offered uncertainly, holding out her hand with the spider.

Zanna sits thinking to herself and notices Rivka come sit next to her. She offers a slight smile and looks in Akons direction again, then out of the corner of her eye see's a huge red spider crawling down Rivka's arm. Zanna then jumps up and squels and backs away quickly.
After she becomes aware of the embarassment she cause for herself she mumbles as her cheeks turn red, "Arachnophobia..."

Akon's eyes shift to Zanna, before she unfolds her arms once more. A hand reaches towards the spider and pats it once....pats it twice....then holds her hand just above the creature, the warlock seeming to sense the delicate life fibers of the tiny creature under her palm. She lingers there, pausing as she feels the sensitive balance of life and death in the arachnid, fingers flexing slightly, before she pulls her hand back and giving a nod towards Rikva. "If you will excuse me." She pulls her hood down further and turns, walking off towards the lake. "I'll be within earshot should you need me."
