Tournament in Jastrey?

Dolin and Berendor approach the town post, laughing boisterously and speakingly gruffly.  Upon reaching the door, Dolin promptly nails a colorful scroll up for all to see.

TOURNAMENT IN JASTREY:

Entry Fee, 1 gold piece

Come one, come all to the Odd Coin Tournament, hosted by Dolin and Berendor Forgesplitter!

SINGLE COMBAT

All entrants will be randomly assigned to a bracket.

The rules are simple!
1. The fight will take place in an open area with mundane weapons, first contestant to tap his rival ten times wins the match!  After each tap, the fighters reset to their respective sides before reengaging.  An impartial judge will be present to oversee the proceedings.
2. No magic, items or ranged weapons allowed! (no actions either)
3.  Each competitor may choose his or her gear, though a shield must qualify as small!
4. If the contestants both agree to the forgoing of any of the above rules or additions to them, then it is allowed.  (Additional rules could include a fight to the death, magic allowed, etc. etc.)  Keep in mind however, the above rules trump changed or added rules so long as one contestant prefers the above rules.
5. The first prize winner will recieve 70% of the total entry fees, second place recieve 25%, and third place recieves the honorable mention for 5%!
6.The winner of each individual match will earn a portion of the bet earnings.

Oh yes!  There will be betting!  Onlookers and contestants alike may bet on each fight, even their own!  To bet, a ticket must be purchased for 5 silver or one ticket per gold worth of vendable (An 8 gold vendable gets you 8 tickets) .  You may purchase as many of these tickets as you like and turn them in for your pay out upon winning.

GUILD AND GROUP COMBAT

In addition to single combat, there will be team battles upon request.  After forming your team, you must find another team with the same number of people to compete against.  Once you've done so, you can inform either Berendor or Dolin Forgesplitter and it will be added to the schedule.   Betting and rules (and rule changes) will work the same way.

The average earnings of a winning ticket is 1.75x your investment, though returns vary based on pot size and degree of favorability. (if you bet on the same guy as everyone else, you won't get as much. If you bet on the underdog and win, you earn far more)

So if you're a capable challenger, have faith in your friends, or you're just feeling lucky, sign up for the Odd Coin Tournament and earn your glory!

--A sign up sheet is placed below the poster

[--PM either myself or Dolin(Squidicecream) if you want more details or have any questions about the tournament. Early entrees are appreciated as they will give us an idea of how many people want to participate  Also, the more people who participate, the more fun it will be, so even if you aren't confident in your ability to win the entire contest, sign up and see how far you can get, you might surprise yourself!  It's only one gold to enter and it'll be a hell of a good time!  Post below if you wish to publicly announce your entrance into the tournament or if you want to taunt others!  GRUDGE MATCH! Thanks! =D ]

Thorlond walks over to the town post looking for new thrills. Seeing the colorful document he begins to read. When finished he takes his finger and brings it to the bottom of the page. A small arc of electricity connects the two and he moves his hand in a flowing motion. When complete he steps back to look at his work.

THORLOND FORGSPLITTER is printed in scorch mark where the arc touched the page.

With that done he turns mumbles to himself, "With the spirits of storms I fly." A small thunderhead cloud forms at his feet and he flies off in the direction of the mines.

Nobody walks calmy over to the poster and reads it...smiling since the first time he entered this town. Swiftly cutting the tip of his finger etching his name in blood under Thorlonds name. Walking away laughing he mutters loud enough for everyone around to hear.

"With how this town fights, this should be easy money"

mockenly walks back into the shadows. ignoring anyone who try to catch his attention.

Barbaal passes the town post on his way to the tavern. He notices people scribbling on a certain parchment. Confused, he walks to the colorful scroll to examine it. This didn't help his confusion.

The ecstatic Dolin rushes over and asks the angori, "Are ye entering the tournament?" completely oblivious to Barbaal's confusion.

Binx followed close behind Barbaal, a small dark shadow in his wake. She stopped behind him and watched the illiterate Angori struggle to make out the words written on the paper for a moment before silently stepping closer and reading it aloud for him, her tone bland and indifferent, tinted with the Uordeq accent.

Barbaal, struggling to put the idea of a tournament together, finally snaps out of his confusion. "OH! It's just a bit of fightin! I love me a good fight!" The excited Angori, takes out a small knife, makes a cut on his hand and smears his handprint on the scroll. "That should do it!" Barbaal looks proudly to Binx and they march on towards The Shady Corner.

Berendor returns to the poster some time later, a scribbled note in hand.  He tacs it just below the original poster in plain view.  The note reads,

'Whoever wins the tournament, will face the champion in a fight to the death in order to claim his title.  Only those with great bravery and prowess should enter this fight as it will be quite perilous.'

Berendor continues on into the tavern to drink the night away.

Idris approaches the town post looking more dazed than usual and stares at the tournament post for a good five minutes
"maaannnn i cant even read right now"  Seeing all the different handwritings and smears on the board though, idris didnt want to be left out of whatever it was, and with that he took a regular sized doobie from his bag, lights it, and uses it to draw his sigil on the poster. As he was walking away he could be heard saying "i wonder what that was all about"

Richter approaches the post and carefully reads the sign.  Looking around to assure who was in his presence, he quickly writes "Richter and Shadra" as a 2 person team for the tournament.  Chuckling, he says to himself, "She will hate me for signing her up for this, but it'll be good for her."  Richter relishes in what he has done for a couple seconds and then dashes off quickly to make sure he isn't caught.

stiers walks up and reads the post
and signs the paper

Zwey notices the post as he walks into town, before introducing himself to the denziens of the village. he reads what is on the board, and spies the tounement sign up. he grunts, that would be fun. maybe one of his possibly new found friends would foot his bill in exchange for his winnings (or, some of it, mans gotta eat and buy gear)

Zwey, you can't post on the forums until after your first event.  You can participate in the tournament once you get to the event, but just try to remember know one knows who your character is yet and forum activity is only allowed in the out of play posts.  Thanks!

Dolin can be heard throughout town shouting:
"MAKE SURE YOU ARE SIGNED UP FOR THE TOURNAMENT, TRUST ME YOU DONT WANT TO MISS OUT!"
